I had a Zhiyun Q2 gimbal earlier this year but it would not hold my phone very well, it would shake if i tilted it. Maybe my phone was too heavy? Anyways, i liked the size of the Q2 and that I didn't need to have the ZY app open all the time to use the gimbal. I could use it to take videos via the regular Samsung camera app. I would like to get another gimbal that has a reach like this one, but I love the feature of not having to only be on the specific gimbal app. So you said that after you sync the gimbal to the CAMI app that you can still use the stabilizing benefits with any other camera app like the regular app that comes with the phone??? I have a Samsung S8 for reference.

Yes! On this Zhiyun gimbal I do not need to use the ZY Cam app after the initial setup. The app has to be set up when you first get the gimbal but it doesn’t need to be used after that. I’ve only used the app a few times but only when I want to be able to use the shutter button the start/stop a recording. You can use any camera app you want and pretty much all the other functions will still work on the gimbal. Hope this helps!

Also the shaking means the camera or gimbal head is off balance or there’s too much weight. I’ve experienced that on an older smartphone gimbal I have but not this one.

I plan to use this for shorts/tiktok videos. Is the gimbal good when walking or when I'm in a moving car? I want my shorts to not be shaky since my phone doesn't have stabilization.

You can hold it after extending the selfie stick, this way you reduce shaking!

Do u know how to solve activation failed problems? Recently I can't connect with my mobile...the gimbal became useless now....

Maybe check the internet connection on your phone while activating. Or uninstall then reinstall the app and make sure Bluetooth is turned on on your phone. Hope you get the gimbal working!

Amazing to me. All you covered, in such clear detail, is totally untouched by the manufacturer of this device! They don't show or even mention the telescoping selfie stick, let allow that a download is required before you can even begin to set it up. Totally unbelievable! Either I have the dumbest family AND friends on the planet or the fools that wrote the "pictorial Instructions" (an insulting 4-image, hand drawn piece of wrapping paper with no verbiage in ANY language) are totally indifferent to the customers to which they are catering. Without your video I would have had no chance setting this up and would have returned it for a refund. Thanks for a fine explanation. They should hire you for technical purposes.

The tracking mode is not working. I select the object through the green square but when I move the object the gimbal doesn't rotate to continue tracking the object when it gets out of the screen. What should I do?

Thank you for the informational video, it was helpful. I went through the steps, but although my Pixel 2 XL is connected to the Smooth X via bluetooth the only gimbal button that works is the zoom one. No other button or feature works on the gimbal, such as the joystick or mode button which don't do anything. Is it possible the gimbal is defective or am I missing some steps so that these buttons work? Very frustrating..: (

I just tested the Hohem app and it can’t switch between the front and rear camera while recording.

has anyone messed around with manuel mode? Is it possible to lock the f stop? (It seems it can lock the shutter speed and iso)

Also, when I export the video from my iphone to my computer and then throw it on premiere, it always says it was shot in 30fps, although I keep it on 24fps in the ZY Cam app. Anyone else have this problem?

The amount of access the app demands for this to function is frightening. It needs, essentially, full access to your phone. Location, hardware access, you name it. Very unnerving for a Chinese product in particular.

Yes! You can attach an iPhone with a case on this gimbal. I have an iPhone XR with a Spigen silicon case that I use with this gimbal occasionally. Hope this helps!
