So bill Walton in his prime is the best center of all time? Prime year vs prime year, this center, walton is the best I have ever seen based on this vid. U got perfect timed blocks, on ball defense. Good box out rebounds, low post scoring, mid range jumpers. even uses the glass. He is unstoppable. And the passes. Wow that's jokic

I'm old enough to have followed his brief NBA career. Walton excelled in every phase of the game. He was a complete center - man defense, rebounding, shot blocking, shooting, and his best, passing - perimeter, interior, and one of the greatest outlet passers ever. He was peak Walton in the '77 playoffs. Can't say I've ever watched a better all-around center in the 56 years watching the NBA. Stats don't tell the full story, he was just phenomenal.

@@benj10s Each are elite passers with their own style to fit their team; Jokic is more ball dominant while Walton keyed the most team-oriented offense I've ever seen. Both led teams of plumbers and electricians to championships. Jokic is a much better scorer but Walton is a far superior defender - 7'3" with impeccable timing - and perhaps the best defending big man ever, so he controlled both sides of the floor.

Can you imagine what the trailblazers in 19 76-19 77 would’ve been, could’ve been had they been able to keep Moses Malone? Bill Walton when healthy was the greatest center ever to play the game of basketball. I know, I saw the Blazers live many times during the championship year including the playoffs and especially his match up against Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in his absolute prime. It was a battle for the ages!

@@idipped2521 He really only stayed healthy enough for two years to make the playoffs and he won a ring both years. It would have been amazing to see the Blazers stay together and go against the showtime Lakers for the WCF and then the Bird Celtics for the Finals. Walton would have done well, but I think both Bird (against Gross) and Magic (against Hollins, probably) would have also done well, too.

As a Blazer fan since day one, I was 14 years old when they won this championship. One thing that was left out of this video was the Lucas-Dawkins "fight " that went down in game two and when they were announcing the starting players for game three in the Memorial Colosseum, Lucas ran over to the 79ers bench and shook hands with Dawkins and I think that deflated the Sixers at that moment and the Blazers won four straight. Blazers went 50-10 the following year until Walton went down with an injury. It was an insanely great team with a great coach!

First of all, a healthy Bill Walton was an absolute force. Not only did he lead the Blazers to the championship but the following year Portland started the season 50-10 before he broke his foot. And an awesome sixth man in Boston 86. Best ever? I guess you gotta say someone is, honestly how do ultimately say one is better. Russel, Chamberlain, Jabar, Malone, Walton, Olajuan, Robinson, Sabonis, O'Neal etc. And then you think you got it down to a group and then you see a vid of Willis Reed taking it to Chamberlain, or Parish dualing with Jabar. Then someone says that the idea is to win, now pick your team. And then I say give me Bill Walton... with Bird, Magic, Jordon, and Ray Allen with Jabar, Pistol Pete, Jerry West, Dr J, and Barkley subing with Rodman and pippen to fill out the roster. They should win some games.

To me is crazy to even ponder what could have happened if 1) Pistol Pete was healthy/motivated in the early 80s . 2) Bird never broke his back, 3) Bill Walton never became so injured neither 4) Len Bias did not overdose. Any combination of 2 of those 4 factors would have easily doubled the celtics chips in the 80s.. All of these conditions being met and they would have get the whole decade plus MVPs and finals MVPs for several players , back to back.

@@TheIcemanthomas The 77 Blazers were not much better team then the Lakers. After Walton was injured in 78 the Blazers were below 50% win team Kareem might be a a better individual player then Walton but no way does Kareem make his team better like Walton cam do. Bill Waltons outlet passing ,& inside the paint passing is superior then Kareem passing ability.

Dr J was not a center. He was a small forward. And Julius did more for the game of basketball than that cripple Walton ever did. The 1983 76er’s have the best postseason record of all time 12-1!!! They sweep the Lakes in 4. At that time, only the 3rd team to do so. Where is Billy boy on that list? I watched 76er’s home games throughout the 1970’s from the second row floor seats in the Spectrum. Sitting next to me was a man who was a top 10 rebounder all 4 years he was in a Division 1 University in the late 1950’s-my dad. He use to watch Wilt play in person. He felt there was no comparison between Wilt and Walton; it was Wilt who was better. He also preferred Moses Malone and Kareem over Walton as well. So if any of you have better bonafides than my dad I might read what your retort has to say. Otherwise, I will ignore you.

@@Notes-From-Underground66 dr choke lost 3 out of 4x in the finals. Including getting whipped by Walton. And Bird whipped him routinely in the ECF. Bird is the goat and Walton is the goat center. Sorry your boy is on a lower level. He can't graze with the goats.

@@debbiehenson1096 You are funny…. LOL. Walton will be forgotten by most people that had forgotten about him before he died! 2 NBA Championships and 1 NBA MVP. Hardly earth shattering! Larry Bird was a better player than Dr. J, but not by much. The Celtic’s and the 76er ‘s met 7 times in the ECC series. It is a 4-3 split favoring Boston. The 76er’s were a much older team. And I don’t recall the Celtic’s ever sweeping the Lakers in the Finals. Dr J was the third player to score over 30,000 points. 5 years in the ABA and only 11 years in the NBA(sometimes the NBA adds numerical stats from Julius’s ABA years and sometimes they don’t). When Julius Erving retired in 1987 the NBA did make a big deal that he scored 30,026 points. But now sometimes they do add the ABA points and sometimes they do not. You are just pissed that Dr. J’s name always is mentioned in conversations that involve the very best that ever played basketball. As Magic Johnson said recently on a program that aired on ESPN, Dr. J could do things in the 1970’s and 1980’s that none of the players can do in today’s game. Oh, who in your immediate family was a great player in NCAA Division 1 Basketball. I hear crickets…. No one!

I basically agree (although he did play more than 3 seasons). There’s no denying what Bill accomplished in college and in his limited time in the NBA (couple of college chips, 2 NBA chips, MVP, 6th Man). But longevity must figure in when you’re talking about all time greatest. Natural ability includes staying relatively injury free. It may not be fair, but there it is.
