You know I was just telling my girlfriend this is probably like the third time I’ve ever cried, and been deeply saddened of a celebrity/sports commentator personality but he’s the first athlete that has ever affected me like this. I am a University of Arizona fan and I absolutely loved when he would be announcing the games. The way he could just go on a rant of something probably not even basketball related and you knew he genuinely was sincere with his compassion and his appreciation of life and people. I was born in 85 so obviously I didn’t get to watch him play growing up but knew from a young age who he was and how dominate he was as a player in the NBA, and especially in college, being from the conference of champions and probably one of the greatest college players and most dominant right next to Kareem. His love for life is unmatched to even people I know in my personal life he seem to never take anything for granted, and some thing I appreciated about him is he didn’t care what people thought, and he spoke his mind, and he would speak about real issues, and not worry about, if people were going to not like his opinion. Above his athletic accolades, and his career as a sports commentator, I think his philanthropy, and being a humanitarian, was his greatest of all traits. I am from San Diego, and it was always dope to know that he came from helix high school right down the road and lived in San Diego most of his life and he loved it here. I wish I could’ve got to have a conversation with him because it seems like the people that had the privilege all had something great to take from it. His positivity is contagious and his selflessness especially nowadays is unmatched and I will definitely miss tuning into college basketball and not seeing or hearing him anymore. I think what made this hit so much harder is I been pretty upset and bummed about the Pac 12 dissolving and the teams splitting up and that there won’t be a conference of champions anymore and the fact that he loved the Pac 12 and the rich history we have and now both are gone this year. One of the first things I thought when I heard that the Wildcats and all the other schools were leaving the Pac 12 was I wonder if we’ll still get Walton to commentate and to know that he won’t be commentating not just Arizona but any college basketball games ever again and to know that Walton and the Pac 12, both were taken away this year forever. It just feels like I lost a big part of my childhood and my adult memories. Condolences to his wife, children, grandchildren, and the many friends he’s made along the way. The mans one of the greatest bigs to play the game with an even bigger personality that was larger than life and although the world lost a bright lite who was one of a kind filled to the brim with so much compassion love and a joy for life. I know I’m not alone when I say he will truly be missed by so many but i believe he served his purpose in this life and was sent up to Heaven to be reunited with loved ones he’s missed and like them he’ll be saving a place for all his love ones when it’s their time to be reunited with him again. The world may have lost a great human being, but Heaven just gained a very bright soul

In the middle of them talking at 2:51 when Bill said, have you ever been to a volcano? Has to be the most Bill Walton thing he would say out of no where.😂😂😂. I swear I’m gonna miss this guy immensely when watching my Wildcats play next season because you can’t and won’t find another Bill Walton. Fuck😭

Get high and watch Pac-12 After Dark!... 😃...That was the scene! Even when the games sucked - and they usually did - BW was an absolute treat, eating candled cupcakes, his sundials, and waxing on elipses...RIP, BW. We will definitely miss you, buddy...

Now I won’t say every single Pac 12 game is the greatest game ever but to say that usually the games always did suck is mad wild. We are and were the conference of champions and that’s because the Pac 12 has won more championships and is more decorated than any conference ever. But I will give you that even if a game wasn’t good and did indeed sucked you knew that if Bill was calling the game that he would have you rollin. Literally my favorite sports commentator because he was having so much fun and you could tell he was truly happy. Whether if it was about how bad a basketball team was playing or a vacation he took to where he went to eat that day he had you entertained the whole time. My favorites if you ever watch him in interviews, or when he would go on podcast or radio stations, you let him get going and you just got to sit back and enjoy the conversation. Young old that guy would’ve been fucking awesome to kick it with. I would’ve loved to smoke or drink with that guy and shoot the shit.

@@TheFieldOf68 thank you for the response! Did he indicate anything during that broadcast for it being his final game or just carried himself the way he normally does a broadcast? (Since conference play we were midway through at that time)

His final game that he commentated was Washington state vs Oregon feb 10th. He was unable to even commentate the final Pac 12 tournament due to his health issues which being the last one just didn’t feel right not having the voice of the PAC 12 conference one last time. I almost feel if he was able to it would’ve been a very emotional one for him. One thing I will always remember him saying guaranteed atleast a couple of times a game and literally you could bet your life that he would mention with joy and a lot of pride whenever saying PAC 12 it was followed immediately by “the conference of champions” and like I put in my comment that was really long, but I couldn’t help it having the Pac 12 dissolve and seeing the end or an era known as the conference of champions and Bill Walton passing is just so heartbreaking. I’m seeing my childhood memories and adult ones come to an end and then on top of that we lost an absolute larger than life legend. I was already pretty bummed and upset about the conference dissolving but then to have Bill Walton pass away the same year was emotional af for me. I’m going to miss the rivalries and being able to go to LA every year guaranteed to see my Arizona Wildcats play but even more than the rivalries I’m gonna miss a absolute legend (even though he played for UCLA) that always lived his life like he was the luckiest person in the world and he radiated joy and love. Hands-down, my favorite sports commentator whether it was about actual basketball, vacations he took, the weather or his wife putting up with him. He always had me glued to the tube you just never knew what Bill might say but God bless his soul because he always said it. RIP, the conference of champions. And RIP, the voice of the PAC 12 the one and only Bill Walton.

@@kaspauf06 it was never official, but his health rapidly declined and he was unable to call any of the other games. His health was not something that he broadcasted or was talked about publicly for the most part people were confused on why he wasn’t commentating during the final pac 12 tournament and me I had no idea. And the final game he commentated he was in bad shape but he would never show his pain or speak on it he just was upbeat and basically his normal self but knowing now he was battling colon cancer you could definitely tell he wasn’t his normal normal self. Really is just heartbreaking and super weird that he would die the same year the Pac 12 ended.
