Scrolled down a bit and didn’t see any comments like that but for what it’s worth THIS video was the early BTS video where V caught my attention right away. He is hilarious in it and an absolute natural in front of the camera from an early age. It’s really no surprise whatsoever why the Big Hit casting crew who saw him hanging out, while just accompanying his friend to an audition, asked V to audition as well. They recognized his charisma and potential to become a star. On top of that, his deep voice stands out and adds so much. And if you see him live in concert like I did recently in LA his voice is 10x more incredible. I don’t know why I was shocked but I was.
@pslinky2 жыл бұрын
@@raya6532 agreed! His voice live is amazing! (I was at the Dec 1 concert, with my 18 yr old daughter and 77 yr old friend. I'm 49) and Tae def catches ones' attention for sure. My favorite thing about him aside from his voice is the facial expressions he makes, especially when he dances. He makes the greatest expressions. After I've seen whatever video a few times I just go back & try to just watch him (though it's hard because I love them all) & I pay attention to those he makes in the background. So great lol 💜

It's really a shame BTS rarely perform this song anymore. Many people accused BTS of being misogynistic after this song so now RM has professors of women studies to review his lyrics. These lyrics are tame compared to what men sing about in the US. Also keep in mind Jungkook says he's 18 but that's by Korean age. He was really 16 when this song was recorded. And yes bring back rapper Jungkook.

I can agree that they're not vulgar like a lot of western artists for example but the concept still hasn't aged well. it doesn't have to be bad to be indirectly harmful or promote not so great ideas. that being said I think they were just boys in their late teens and early twenties and almost everyone is cringy at that age when you look back at it 😂it is better to have made a bad take and be able to look back at it and see what was wrong rather than being perfect all the way. that's how you grow.

V is a whole damn mood this whole video and makes me laugh so hard. The fashion is perfect and I love it far too much. Since they will likely never perform this live again enjoy the dance practice which is hilarious. Being BTS they made it a teachable moment and RM set a bar to run all his lyrics through a professor of women’s studies to make sure they aren’t objectionable instead of just blowing the controversy off and I appreciate it a lot. But damn this song and video are fun. Plus baby JK rapping.

I love this song so much! 💜 It’s a shame that it caused so many problems for them. Questionable lyrics should always be called out, of course, and no one’s feelings should be invalidated or disrespected. My problem with the backlash this song is got is that most of it is performative, not genuine. People have been using anything they can possibly nitpick on to discredit BTS since their debut, and 90% of the criticism of this song is down to that, not because people are genuinely concerned about misogyny or the objectification of women. If they were, they’d bring up the same and much worse things that countless other artists say in their music. Am I saying that these lyrics were okay? No, they weren’t the best and I’m happy they educated themselves and never repeated the mistake moving forward. BUT, I also think that it was blown way way out of proportion and the performative activism of haters pisses me off more than the lyrics themselves. Stop weaponising serious societal issues for fanwars. Oh and P.S. other people can have opinions on the lyrics that are different from mine. That’s completely okay 💜🥰
@ashonline772 жыл бұрын
imo what people failed to recognize is that the song is called war of hormone, the lyrics were meant to sound like what a hormonal teenage boy would say and they portrayed that well. i really don't see the problem with that.
@Clementinelands2 жыл бұрын
@@ashonline77 Yep! You can 100% look at it that way. But of course, some peoples concern is that teenage boys can influenced by societal norms which feeds into a toxic mindset persisting into later life. You can still be a decent human, hormones or not. If a woman used her hormones at that time of the month as a reason to talk down to people or treat people badly, she’d be torn apart, but when it’s comes to boys, it’s just the ‘boys will be boys’ attitude. Either way, the whole situation was blown out of proportion and most of the people who are ‘outraged’ by this only care about bringing BTS down, not the issues they claim there are with this song. I think it’s important to acknowledge that we all have our own personal circumstances and experiences that feed into how we feel about this situation. I wasn’t personally offended by it, but I can certainly see how it could feed into certain toxic mindsets society conforms to. And I won’t invalidate other women who might be affected by this differently than me.
@kunikuzushis2 жыл бұрын
@@Clementinelands Thank you for your comments tbh because the conversation about this song and the lyrics have turned into Army defending it while invalidating and dismissing anyone who could’ve felt uncomfortable about the lyrics.
@Clementinelands2 жыл бұрын
@@kunikuzushis I think it’s important to remember that we are a fandom made of millions of people, and BTS are advocates for individualism. We’re not here to follow them like sheep, and they don’t want us to be. It would be an insult to their efforts and their intelligence to ditch all critical and independent thinking in favour of a sheep mentality. They wouldn’t want any of us to blindly defend things we don’t agree with just because it’s we’re ‘meant to’ if we’re ‘real fans’. In fact, I think they’d be pretty sad if we sacrificed our personal feelings and experiences in order to do that. I’m capable of forming my own thoughts, and I realise that that’s something valuable for everyone else too. Individualism within a fandom is a strength, not a weakness. This is a family, not a cult.

*Disclaimer: this is going to be one big ass comment about song lyrics* I don't see anything wrong with the lyrics of the song. All boys go through puberty and the things BTS sung in this are just reflective of their experience going through that phase in their lives. This is the reason I love them and their songs.. they didn't hide anything and covered all the feelings/thoughts of a person who is in his/her adolescent...one can see them growing up from then till today…I personally don't find the lyrics offensive and “most” Armys as well..as I agree they are expressing the struggles of dealing with hormonal changes in adolescence, and I'm sorry but sexual attraction is the number one pressing issue in most hormonal teens regardless of gender. There's a couple of issues I take with people who found this offensive. First, the double standard. You can't tell me young women were purely innocent in their thoughts and feelings as they watched these young men dance and sing, they just didn't make a song about it, at least not publicly. Secondly, the entire concept BigHit wanted from BTS is a representation of the youth culture and the issues youth deal with as seen and heard through the lyrics and music of BTS, and of course everyone has or will experience sexual attraction. Yes, they refer to see through clothing and high heels etc, but I've seen hundreds of posts referring to JK's abs, Jimin's body rolls and shoulder "accidents" Tae's tongue...you get the idea, and while many comments aren't necessarily teens it's not a problem. There can only be an issue if the lyrics were implying that I'm only attracted to girls who wear heels and sheer clothing, not sneakers and sweats. Anyone who has experienced adolescence knows however that if they're sexually attracted to someone the person could easily walk around in a potato sack and an adolescent would still be entranced. A lot of people were offended by that line, "Girls are equations and us men just do them". Personally, I took it as "do them" meant they were puzzles to be solved, not a sexual act. RM was honestly shocked that people were offended by the lyrics and that they could be considered misogynistic. It was definitely a learning experience for him. He apologized and has since run his lyrics through a few professionals in women's studies before releasing a new song. They don't really release songs like this any more. But to that a korean Army said translation in English were a bit off, which lead to misunderstandings and explained it saying : “I was kinda surprised it's translation was "do" because that part "do them" CAN actually sound offensive to some people, because the meaning of that word 'do' is not clear. However I can clearly say that it's not meant that way, and Korean version lyrics tell that. Words are more specific, and not controversial in Korean version lyrics, because it doesn't say 'do. That part in Korean is 여자들은 방정식 우리 남자들은 해 which says we men are 해 is a word for mathematics, and it means the 'answer/the final number'. So it means they solve. the complex minds of the girls. 해 DOES have the meaning of 'do' too, but its not appropriate to translate this part of the lyrics that way, because if u say it means "do them, it doesn't fit the sentence there. Since there's no Objectives for that Verb 'do' and that's... kinda awkward. plus. the context and meaning of the whole sentence is talking abt mathematics and Equations so what u said is true. It doesn't mean sexual way”

Regarding all the hate, you either believe you shouldn't talk about anything sexual in a music at all or else you have to agree this is one of the cutest ways to talk about such a subject and still keeping away from becoming offensive towards women.

Once again, your reaction is how my reaction is. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Agreed with you both when u talk abt the choreo, their expression (especially jhope when he slam the car door 🤣)the way they shoot, camera angle, even the lyric itself is 100% matched with the title. Wht a war of hormone. They so damn fetus here 🤣. Really reflect the energy of high school kids/teenagers. Just look how "plum", fluffy is their cheecks (focus on jimin,jk n jin) Yr 2nd best reaction for me. Keep it up guys. (May i suggest you guys react to their dance practice sometime? Fyi, they got plenty version of dance practice like halloween n cute version. For me, their old songs is full of energy/hyped. Mybe bcause their still "young" at that time.)

I love this. I know they get flack for it being sexist, but I really don't see it. It's War of HORMONE and it seems honest about what's going through a young man's mind but doesn't seem disrespectful to me. Plus the song slaps and they look fantastic.
