I live this dude and he definantly has the chops to play but being able to get an audition was probably somewhat easy. His dad is Max Weinberg aka the drummer for the E street Band. Jay has also filled in for his dad before
@sergeantsilly52398 жыл бұрын
I don´t know if someone knows this but, at his first meeting with Corey, Jay was 10 years old, and it was at Slipknot´s 2001 concert in the hammerstein ballroom in New york. His father Max arranges an meeting for his son Jay to meet Corey. In the moment he was meeting his idol Corey taylor for the first time, he stayed beside his father, and shyly like he was, his words won´t came out. And now, 15 years later, he is part of the band. You wanna know, why i´m telling this to you ? Why do you think it came to this ? Was it luck ? NO. It was really hard work. If you work for your dreams, they maybe come true.

Jay seems to be so much more of an authentic drummer compared to Joey. The thing I never really understood about Joey was that he had triggers on everything and didn't actually use his second bass drum (used a double bass pedal and the other drum was just for show), also that big spinning platform thing Joey had his kit. Jay must be so refreshing for Slipknot's stage crew. Not that Joey is a bad or unauthentic drummer, he was actually a big influence on my early drumming, just that Jay seems more grounded, literally.

As a drummer it is hard to explain to people that the feeling of separate bass drums or playing a double paddle is totally different, I now play 2 bass drums but I had more control with the double paddle.
@Howitchewstofeel5gum5 жыл бұрын
Plus one bass drum with a double pedal is much less of a headache for the audio engineer. I think Joey just was much bigger of a presence in the band. He was a founding member and one of the main songwriters, so he had much more say in the band's affairs and got to stand in the limelight a lot more than Jay. Jay is also a great drummer, but I doubt that he has the standing in the band to demand a 10 minute drum solo with a spinning platform.

@@alfiedelevaldrumz5874 honestly (to me at least) Joey's songs have been easier to learn and play than Jay's have. With songs featuring Joey, you just need to have the speed and stamina to play them, other than that, they're alright (not for all songs of course, disasterpiece sucked donkey dick to learn 😂) while Jay's songs can have both speed and ingenuity. for example, red flags from WANYK is one of the most difficult (and one of the most fun 😂) songs I've personally ever learned from any band excluding meshuggah.

Jay is the best drummer in the world in my opinion simply Bc he doesn’t use triggers, his kicks are always tight, on time and punchy, his snare is snappy and you can tell his toms are naturally resonating... he doesn’t have to rely on turning his kit into a tap machine to be on time and be tight, not to mention he’s playing this shit naturally where most drummers have to use triggers to play that clean
