The H creamback has an “airiness” in the upper mids that gave it away

@@beyondthecurvestudios9912 As well as "B" sounds NASAL and odd in the MIDS! I've owned the M Creambacks x 4 and didn't like them, or fall in love. They broke up too early and coloured the sound in a weird way for my ears! I will try a set of H drivers! I really liked how they sounded here, I AGREE AIR and OPENESS, I also really liked the NEO with higher gain, and I really disliked the ALNICO across the board. Great video.

To me, the M Creambacks sound more "spread out" while the H Creambacks sound a bit more focused which is what gave it away. I listened to a lot of your old Celestion speaker comparisons and have been doing pretty well so far with the Celestion challenges. If you ever throw in other speaker brands, I might not do so well. 😅

Man I'm so glad I was right this time and got that A was the H which I have and like very much... But you can mix things up sometimes with the setup quite a bit and well my ears aren't the best in the world 😂

to my ears the Alnico cream has the flattest widest response with a present high end. Closest to a Blue, but not 15w, it's 90.

I love your channel so much and your new videos are just awesome! They’re very fun and informative to watch! You guys are raising the awareness of speakers and cabs importance as a crucial step to getting THE tone in your head!

Creambacks are probably my favorite speaker. They do everything from super high gain to glassy clean really nicely.

All excellent sounds, the M already happens to be one of my favorite combinations of 4. The neo is doing something to my earhole that I don't like in isolation, but I bet it's nice in a mix. Thanks for all the work! These videos are incredibly useful.

The neo does work well in a mix but there is something in there that a lot of people don't get on with.

As I have always said, M plus H together is the best combination there is. It does sound good at any gain level. Provided you have a good cabinet, that is. As it turns out DCC loves that combination for his amplifiers as well 😊

How did you go? They take a while to break in, once broken in they are nice, I like to use just 1 and mix it.

@RG-yz8ov They sound phenomenal! Much smoother than my Eminence red coats. They didn't take long to break in at all. I've been loving the sound out of the box, so I hope they don't change much.

@RG-yz8ov I just tried the cab with my Ceriatone Chupacabra 100, and they fit that amp even better. Unless you have an attenuator, I wouldn't recommend it, though.

Great comparison! I'm particularly liking your new videos a lot. I tried an H Creamback and a Vintage 30 in my Orange CR60 about a year ago (after listening to a lot of your old videos, especially to try to decide on the Creamback), and I've noticed your newer videos sound a bit more accurate to how they sounded to me in-person. I still think the best way to compare the speakers is to look at their differences, since there are so many factors with different cabs that they won't necessarily sound exactly the same in every use case, but if someone needs more brightness or darkness, then getting the respective brighter or darker speaker is more likely to accomplish that. I ended up keeping the H Creamback in my amp. I thought the Orange's stock Voice of the World speaker and the Vintage 30 both sounded pretty similar, with a very thick and a bit darker sound, while the H Creamback sounded like it had a bit more brightness, was a bit more focused, and had a bit of extra sizzle. For the Vintage 30 and Voice of the World, I felt adjusting the mid control didn't really do much, while with the H Creamback, it gave me a thinner, more scooped sound with the mids down and sounded pretty close to the other two speakers with the mids up. I also tried hooking up the speakers outside of the amp (since I didn't have another cab), and I liked the mix of the H Creamback and Vintage 30 about as much as the H Creamback by itself, with the Vintage 30 sound by itself being my least favorite. I felt the more focused H Creamback complimented the more spread out Vintage 30 when played together. I also thought the speakers played outside of the cab actually wasn't a terrible sound - I preferred them in the cab, but they were mostly just a bit brighter outside of the cab and I could get pretty close to the sound in the cab just by turning the bass up.

The M & H sounds incredible together. Currently running them in a custom cab for a DC-30. I've also got an Alnico Cream that I'm going to try swapping in to see the results.

I have a Laney GH30R-112 combo. It came stock with a Cele V-Type and there was a high-mid graininess to the tone, kind of rough sounding. I thought it might be the amp but decided to try the speaker before selling the amp. So I bought a G12H-75 and installed it. The high graininess disappeared and the amp now sounds smooth and well balanced. And the speaker isn't even broken in yet. I'm really happy with my choice. The V-Type is a good speaker, but the G12H-75 is just on another level.

The 70s Creambacks also had different cones than the Greebakcs did . Greenbacks had pulsonic cones while the Creambacks had RIC-1 cones which were made in house at celestion . They switched to Kurt Mueller cones for the Blackback era . The Greybacks and Creambacks seem to be the least popular due to the RIC cones . You can find the odd Greyback and Creamback with Pulsonic cones .

Ever done a 4x12" Celestion blues ? I'd love to hear that with a 1987x head. The M seems to fit my ear. I like Greenbacks but they are always a tad too bright for me, they work well for Blues though. FWIW

Yeah that is good fun, I love blues in a 4x12 but it is quite rare... partly because they cost so much.

my list is m h alnico nad last neodymium. the last is not bad but too ear piercing highs, alnico the opposite very middy. it's a pity beacuse it's not simple to have e neo speaker that sounds good with the benfit of small weight. have you compared to the neo v type?

If I want my home recordings to sound professional, is a 4 x 12 necessary? Or can I double track an oversized 2 x 12 like the superfatboy and legitimately get it sounding as good? If money was no object, if you get me
@ZillaCabs
@ZillaCabs 5 ай бұрын
4x12s are fun and great for playing in the room but a cab like a closed back Super Fatboy or Fatboy will get you really close for recordings. I like playing 4x12s but honestly have no issue recording a Fatboy, I do it all the time.

Thank you - yeah I saw a sound engineer from Hard Core Studios and he uses a 2x12 for semi pro bands all the time so I think you’re right. I have an Engl 2x12 with V30s in atm and it sounds pretty good, but I am gearing up for a Zilla cab with a pairing like the creamback G12M and G12H for a bit more colour without losing too much grit

M sounds kinda "ready to record" H sounds more "metal" and have that vintage sizzle - I like it the most Neo sounds like "Wow!" cause it's raw and aggressive Alnico sounds "creamy" and I think it's good for solo

Just personal preferences of course, but the Neo sounds fine with clean tones, but just looses something with mid gain and up to my ears.

I really like the neo for heavier sounds but it does split opinion with heavier stuff for sure.... and you got it right, speakers are so subjective, it's how you hear it that matters.

I'm not sure combining M and H Creambacks is giving you more frequencies than either would separately. Too vintage for my tastes. Eminence Swamp Thang and an M65 Creamback gives you a nice full spectrum of frequencies.

First speaker you play 1 chord progression, then you switch to the next speaker and play a different chord progression. FAIL
@ZillaCabs
@ZillaCabs 5 ай бұрын
Not a fail, it's called variation. If you need to hear the exact same thing to tell what a speaker is doing then that's the fail. It's boring and not how anyone listens to speakers. Why bother leaving such a thoughtless comment?
@KaiDown
@KaiDown 5 ай бұрын
If it was a sine wave instead, it’d be a much more balanced and predictable comparison.. And everyone would hate it. You can definitely hear the differences in the speaker’s characteristics despite the chord changing
