There are a few minor changes I would make, but I’d keep it all in-theme. Like the kitchen counter I would make a cream color. I would balance the colors in the upstairs bathroom countertop/cabinet combo the same way. I would also look for a master bedroom wallpaper that doesn’t make my ADHD brain meltdown while looking at it, but keep it 70’s style. Assuming the furniture stays, I’d replace the metallic, reflective table by the sofa with something wooden and cream colored like the other pieces. Overall, I’d just make it MORE consistent. I’d also love to keep it 70’s authentic where possible. Like 99% of it is fine. It tickles something deep in my brain that I like.

To answer Sarah's question, as a kid I was made to attend both Church of God and Baptist services, and I was told that Jesus was crucified from his wrists. They said the hands would've been impossible, since the nail wouldn't have been able to catch onto any bones and thus keep the person suspended. Now isn't that a fun and cool fact for a 7-year-old to learn at 9 in the morning? 🙃

@madietucker66312 жыл бұрын
I’d read that it was his wrists that he was nailed through, and not his hands. The victims could not hand by the hands because the skin and tissue would tear and they would fall from their cross. Whereas the wrist, the nail would hold between the bone and the victim would be able to hang their weight. Most were tied from the wrists. Sorry for the school report.. but I had to share what I’ve heard. Idk who this helps but, happy Saturday!
@Sara-eh7di2 жыл бұрын
I didn't know this but I'm also not mad about learning this. So what you are telling me is that they use the nail as a hook between the bones? Interesting.

Based on findings from archeologist of criminals who were crucified there was no damage indicated to the hands (bone) and was mostly nailed via wrists and their feet. Based on the Bible from Greek translation they used one word for both wrist and hands (cheir). While in Luke 24:40 Latin they use the word (manus) which refers to hands. There’s also several other verses mentioning hands over wrists.

That's so interesting, was there a large sample size of individuals and how much was found of the carpals (wrist bones) compared to the metacarpals (hand bones)? The wrist bones are usually harder to completely recover, just because of their size so it's the sort of thing that can really limit analysis. Maybe the methods of crucifixion varied throughout the empire and over time? I've seen quite a few depictions where the feet are supported with a small step, and a nail through the wrist seems like a much quicker death - idk how quickly he's meant to have died
@littlekate45232 жыл бұрын
@@experiment35 so from the research I did they don’t have that big of a sample size (5-10 are speculated as it is hard to know for certain especially with wrist bones). In the Bible, Jesus died quicker than the other criminals (hence they stabbed his side to make sure he was really dead). His death took about 6hrs while normally other criminals would take 18-48hrs and normally died of suffocation. It is speculated due to the brutality Jesus experienced before the crucifixion (bound, court hearings, beaten, tormented, etc.) is the reason he died quickly. I haven’t seen any depictions where there is a small step but it makes sense. Also although I have no real idea for sure whether it was the hands or wrist (and personally I don’t think it matters) the religious leaders could’ve hung Jesus by the wrists as he was crucified during Passover and they wouldn’t want his body there for long. Personally I choose to believe in the hands just based on the original language used on the Bible.

The green house was genuinely really nice- It reminds me of those old white ladies who dedicate their whole life to a single colour (like the pink lady and the green lady and I’m pretty sure there’s a yellow lady) It’s such a pretty green colour, and there’s such a variety and consistency, it’s genuinely really nice and weirdly comforting Also the “there’s something weirdly racist about this” when literally the only ‘off’ thing about the house is the fucking American flags everywhere? Very apt. If someone genuinely owns even one American flag, I just kinda assume they’re racist (to be fair, I do the same with people who have too many English flags-)

3:25 I used to go to school in a private christian school in France around Christmas we wouldn't have classes for half a day and instead we'd have stuff on religion. Anyways, one Wednesday, I think teachers took turn reading directly from the bible (I was half asleep, I don't remember everything) and it got to the school priest talking about representation of Christ on the cross. He basically said that Christ with nails in hands is impossible, because since he was on a cross suspend and with his weight it would have impossible not to just slide in between the fingers but in the wrists the bones would make sure he wouldn't fall off. So technically he just taught a bunch of 14 years old how to properly crucify someone.

As for the “vampire that works at the pentagon” warehouse; obviously it was for 80’s-90’s style vampire orgies

Side note sarahs makeup is amazing. Also as an atheist i appreciated this video. The nook in the teal house wall is for a house phone. Youre welcome.

pastors daughter here, the nails went through his wrists. a lot of different translations say hands but during actual crucifixions at the time it was through the wrists. literally crucifixions are so scary though bc they don’t just hang on the cross, the way they die is suffocation. they break the legs of the person crucified and their body collapses on itself. super fucking scary.

3:28 as someone from a Christian School we talked about this so much. My teacher said that it was through his wrists with the logic of, “if he was nailed by his hands they’d hit bone.” (Graphic warning) my teacher believed that Jesus stayed on the cross because the nail was placed between his radius and ulna, so it would go straight though. [and yes i was a gay kid in a Christian school, terrifying]
