Great video! I think UE5 is setting what will be the standard that other platforms follow. I've been putting off learning UE until this full version came out. Will be going all in on UE5 for my Archviz. I'm a residential designer, so I'm not getting paid thousands to make a photo. I need to have something that is fast to communicate design. Twinmotion is ok and easy to learn, but the quality isn't what I want. Keep up the videos they are very helpful! Thanks for making them for us all.

Awesome to hear. Thanks, Mike. I do think UE5 will be the gold standard for this kind of stuff. I also think a lot of people are intimidated by it, but learning it unlocks a lot of potential.

Build a walk-through project with your architectural design, include widgets for notes for people to add comments from pre-determined camera angles, add lighting functions, export it as a WebGL project, host it on your server, give the HTML link to your client. Job done, let the client chew it over externally and read the comments for any potential areas of concern. Easy money :)

In my opinion, when UE is the next gen archviz tool. There are still lot thing which need to be updated, but within 5-7 years things will change. I have been using v-ray in the past for like 7 years, but I had to switch to corona, to many loading times, to many crashes, freeze... it just a pain to work with v-ray. I was a V-ray fanboy, but I have to admit vray is behind of corona. I know a lot a of people will say there are way more things which you can do in vray and to be fair that's true, but you know in the end of the day, I have to ask myself does it worth working on a project 5 hours which can be done in 2? ... so yea I think v-ray has a bad coding or something, because that's isnt normal...(and I'm using 3090, with amd 5950x, the power should be an issue)

I (still) dont think it's mature enough for daily archviz production. Not because of the quality, just purely for his lack of production efficiency. In the sense of a client telling you this or this doesnt work : you have to go back to 3DS Max, change what he wants, re-export via datasmith, hope that everything goes well and/or maybe re-assign materials you had done in UE5, etc. And REDO it each time your client make a new version. etc. in 3DSMax / Vray combo, "WYSIWYG" (What you see is what you get") is the key. You change your model, click render, and with a good post-process setup, for me After Effects, your image is updated. I would use UE5 if the end goal was to achieve an application "game like" where the end user can change materials, change the lights, even change some part of the models, moving in the environnment. For still images or video animations i will definitely stick to Vray / Vantage (Or any usual render, that works too) for now.

That is exactly where I am at for my professional workflow currently too. I do use UE5 when the end goal is something like a virtual walkthrough. That fact is, I need to know both tools/workflows.
@bekachkhenkeli
@bekachkhenkeli 2 жыл бұрын
You don't need to re-assign materials. UE5 does it for you. In many cases you don't need to go back to max. You can edit directly in UE

@@bekachkhenkeli What about Materials you have changed in UE ? Or new materials created and applied in UE ? I have tried Datasmith in the past it never was a perfect "link" You cant really edit modifications on buildings in UE.

Great video. 2 questions: 1) How long before you release your UE5 tutorial? I'm really keen to get going and DVIZ have just released a course with a special deal expiring today! If yours is almost done, I might hang on. 2) Do you offer this cabin model for download anywhere so we can try it too? I followed your links but can't see this one listed.
@Learn-archViz
@Learn-archViz 2 жыл бұрын
I already have an Unreal Engine Course, but it has not been updated with UE5 specific features yet. That is coming in the next few months. It is just a very good foundation (IMO) in Unreal Engine. The existing material translates very well to UE5. I have not made the cabin available, but I do have a couple other full 3d models that can be downloaded and experimented with.

After using vray for about 10 years ! Actually I'm not agreed with you , my plan is migrate to UE5 (I work with ue4 for about couple years) because you can make a realistic photo too ! If you can't reach this quality that's not mean UE5 can't do that! Any way good luck bro.

Unless you are the type of artist who likes to stay in front of your screen all day and night, stick with vray or corona alone.. But if you ara an artist who likes to live the other side of life to the satisfaying details as you like your renders to be, then explore on new ways such as Unreal.

I would love to switch over from vray but you cant even straighten verticals during my play with it. Basic arch viz requirement. What do you think?
@Learn-archViz
@Learn-archViz Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that is annoying. You can kind of do it using camera tricks, but it is not the same as the capability in VRay. Anyway, I don't think this completely replaces the need for VRay overall. More so, it ads other options and capabilities that are very intriguing.

Hi! would installing vray plugin on unreal solve the photo realism problem?
@JagdeepKaler5171
@JagdeepKaler5171 Жыл бұрын
oh... why not use the path tracer insted inside the unreal engine? I dont know what people are onto... I see a lot of comments about using Vray and blah blah... Its just a render engine... same result can be achieved with cycles, octane, corona, f-storm, arnold, luxcore and even unreal engine lumen.... The photorealistic problem in this particular example was because the artist didnt worked enough on the scene... Had he given more time, the result could have been on par with any physical renderer and that too realtime. The only downside that I see is the caustics, but those are not much of a concern for archviz scenes.
