That Clausing drill press may be an ideal project for Keith Rucker to rebuild. If he can rebuild saw for Deresta, he should be able to handle that drill press.

There's a good reason why Clausing drill presses are so common in industry. They're pretty much bulletproof.

I had the same trouble with my drill press, could not close the lid. LOL If you take a disk grinder and clean off the area you're welding the arc starts more easily. It is hard to weld through dirt.

I just plain love pouring liquide metals. Your reputation is safe as can be here my friends. Are these for Tally Ho ? With these small drill presses I mount another pulley in the middle of these two to get them slow enough for better/stronger drilling. They will be farther along to not burn up bits. Please contact Leo for you being able to 3D print his Medallions. I need one to copy into Petrobond or Delft clay. Somewhat a finer casting sand that you use here. Possibly a medium you can use for your medallions. Thanks for a walk along with you on this project.

In regards to overhead lighting, vibration transmitted through the light's hangar can cause problems with electronics. By replacing the cast aluminum link that was supplied with the fixture with an elastic strap the calls to hurry up fix the high bay lighting that typically occurred after a rain storm simply ended. A cable safety strap was already installed as a redundant hangar protection for the factory cast aluminum link.

Variable speed and Power feed are nice, both were optional features. Another option was a two speed motor, which gives you a high and low speed range. Several of the ones I've used are set up with two barrel switches. One for FORWARD and REVERSE The other for HIGH and LOW speed

I wonder if those foundry guys were sneeky enough to pour those latch rods around the original castings? Kind of reminds me of my door hinges that they cast so they exactly matched and were all one piece.

Clarke, Please do not run electrical wiring through pipe. Pipe can have a sharp weld seam on the interior that can cut through the wirings insulation causing electrical shorts. Use rigid EMT instead. Randall in Kentucky.

It may be that the feed in Clausing drill is engaged, and that is why the spindel is frosen.

Speaking of your eyes, have you investigated whether lens replacement would help. I know it's kinda spendy but if it will improve your sight. The VA did mine and what a difference between the old yellow lenses and the new clear one and though they corrected some sight I still have to wear glasses. Take care out there.

I know and have seen lots of people where gloves while using a drill press.. but it’s not a good practice and bit dangerous… if you get the glove caught on the bit it will wind up your fingers hand and as much arm as it takes to stall the motor…. I sorry to say I have seen it happen

$200 for an Atlas that works? That's a steal. $200 in my neck of the woods will get you a pile of parts to an Atlas drill press, usually missing the table and/or motor, or the motor is dead. Don't go low balling them, they know what they got. I've seen the same Atlas press on Marketplace and Craigslist for over 3 years at $400, and it's just a pile of parts with half the press missing. The comments are always fun to read, but the guy is "I know what I got, you want it, pay for it". smh....
