i even think he is in his prime here. the first 2 seasons he made with juventus, just before the 1998 world cup, were the best he did in his career. He has never done better than that in a WHOLE season after, even with Real Madrid.

@Paperback agreed, I also like his Juventus days when I think he played more aggressively and physically (he is always elegant!). The world cup 98 success was the crowning occasion. My personal favorite international tournament of his was euro2000 :)

I don't like the Juventus Zidane but the Real Madrid Zidane wasn't bad. He had a good touch. He did not overdo things and all of his touch had a purpose. Zidane got better when he lost his hair.

Zidane is much more a number 8 than a number 10 for me. He was more efficient when his position on the field is lower on the pitch.

Correct. Many compare him to the likes of Maradona, Baggio, Platini etc, but like you said, he operated a lot deeper than those players, conducting play from deep. He reminds me more of Riquelme, Modric, Pirlo and Verratti.

Zidane is Laudrup and Bergkamp (with less goal) Kind of player ( maybe Rui Costa and Glenn Hoddle also). he played number ten with France. he control the tempo of a game, he was strong, technic, had à great visionbut not fast. I think, today, Debruyne he is the closest to Zizou.

Parliamo di playmaker. Allora Crujiff Platini Zico Maradona Kaka Ronaldinho Messi Iniesta Totti . Zidane m piace l eleganza e la sua efficienza nelle partite importanti, lo considero un iniesta d 20 anni fa. Negli anni 80 poteva essere paragonato a Falcao o a rijkaard. Pirlo un grandissimo forse un gradino sotto all algerino e matthaus per molti era migliore ma x me no aveva solo un ottimo tiro poteva essere paragonato a Totti cm tiro e cm corsa ad un bale o robben.
