​@@mkv2718 I have hypothesized that the perfume "weapons" will be a class of pure elemental damage. Which for 1 makes sense and for 2 would be unique. I guess spoiler warning: The gameplay footage we have shows the standard fire perfume, which may be faith based. As well we see a blue perfume, which may be int based. Iron Pineapple mentioned the possibility of a lightning perfume which would be either faith, dex, or maybe both? If so then this class might have "weapons" that cater towards multiple build types, like all weapon classes tend to. Or at least I hope so. Would be kinda disappointing if they all required 1 specific build to use...

well I don't think you will upgrade DLC weapons with stones. Because then you would be just instantly able to upgrade any new weapon to max lvl and that just doesn't seem fun.

In regards to the tip about crafting, I too don't use a lot of craftable items, but I highly recommend you remember to always bring bone darts with you wherever you go. Why you may ask? Yes they have terrible damage, but remember that enemy posture regenerates very quickly when they go for a certain time (six seconds I believe) without being hit. So I always throw bone darts whenever I'm retreating for a heal, or waiting for an approach, using this simple strategy earns me so many more critical blows that it has completely transformed how I play. It's now a fundamental tool that I bring into every boss and miniboss. Plus it makes critical blows easier to land against bosses your playing defensively against, which you'll be doing more since we're unfamiliar with these new boss movesets. I recommend binding bone darts to a pouch so you can use a simple button combo to use it immediately. Oh and they're immediately available and stupid cheap too, just kill a few wandering animals, you'll thank me later.

Now this is a good tip, especially for heavy weapon builds, since they do high poise damage but, being as slow as they are, give you fewer attack windows. This means that your strategy to keep the enemy's poise from regenerating too fast mitigates one of the downsides of using heavy weapons

@@brodericksiz625 I didn't mention it in my comment, but yea I've doing a run with the Guts colossal sword, mainly because I'm trying to learn a playstyle I have a lot difficulty with before the DLC. I couldn't imagine how challenging it would be to get consistent posture breaks without this tip. But with this tip, it actually makes colossal weapons easy mode. Because the weapons' inherently high damage their critical strikes are beefy and they break posture stupidly fast even with pokes, so long as you stop posture regen. Plus there are a lot of situations where it's too risky to approach with a colossal weapon, but this tip gives you something to keep track of while looking for an opening. Keeping focused is key.

Ziostorm, you're actually the first Elden Ring content creator (that I'm aware of) to promote leaving key NPC's alive for the DLC. Indeed, I have been doing very much the same. I've kept Melina, Malenia and Gideon alive. I did finish Millicent's questline, but have not even breached the fog gate to Malenia. I like to say she has "diplomatic immunity" until the DLC comes out. I've also refused to burn the Erdtree, but I do have a save with the Frenzied Flame on NG+2, as well as one without it in its first playthrough.

4:34 I had one case when this really helped when I ran through Farum Azula in the location with birds and dragon attacking with lightning near bridge to Maliketh (Everyone surely knows this place), then dragon tried to burn me to a crisp with breath attack but I survived with low hp, I was baffled at first because I was certain my character should be dead and then I saw “Your message was appraised”

The only thing I won't do here is play with a group, I hate playing Fromsoft game online because of all the messages and blood stains around, I usually clear everything offline so I get a more immersive experience, then I turn on online so I can help other players fight their bosses.

For anyone who is gonna start a new character Don't need to play the whole game again you can just go kill greyoll then kill godrick do varry quest go to the mohgwyn palace rune farm lvl up around lvl 150 which is an ideal lvl for first playthrough get all bell bearing upgrade 2 to 3 weapons you will need and then just go enjoy the dlc this will take only 10 to 15 hours

It's important to remember that is not possible to maintain any kind of relation to Melina, and also get all bell bearings, without exploiting a warp glitch to get to Farum Azula early.

I found an amazing video showing the inspiration for the shadows lands of elden ring from GRRM's a song of ice and fire. It's from a youtuber called "the disputed lands" and the video is called "The Land of Shadow inspiration DISCOVERED... hiding in the ANCIENT LORE of ASOIAF." I think so many videos of elden ring lore in the community have really overlooked this. I think that the scaffolding of the elden ring story was built off of this. The video is only about 8 minutes long too but it says soooo much!

I’m going in with an int/fai at 45 each, Prince of death staff, deaths poker, and golden order seal, maxed at lv120, at least for now, with both incants and spells at about a 60/40 split. It’s my favourite build, and I’m yet to burn the tree. I thought I’d stop there, go into dlc and see how I fare, I think it will be a good challenge and I can enjoy completing the main game again with new weps and spells and anything else they give us. I have a lv 200 I completed the game on if I get desperate, with all the kit, so I’m covered if I get trounced. Can’t wait! Look forward to more great content from you as we explore more of this truly epic game.

curious if anyone else shares my current predicament. i began putting shameful amounts of time into ER upon the announcement of the dlc, like i'm talking nonstop playing, but consequently got burnt out around a month or so ago and haven't played it since. and so now im just desperately trying to un-burnout myself so that i can actually enjoy my time playing the dlc when it comes out, but no matter how many times i boot up the game, i get this sort of mental block that is like "nah, let's do something else". idk, is anyone else dealing with this? i have never been able to experience playing a fromsoft dlc right when it drops and im going to be SO frustrated if ive ruined that chance for myself by falling into the "ive hyperfixated on this thing so intensely for so long that i have burnt out completely and will not be able to return for at least another 6 months when the cycle begins anew" trap that i know damn well i am prone to falling into and yet fell for it anyways😭

Already ahead of you! I have two characters in front of Maliketh's and Malenia's fog gates, waiting for the DLC before burning the erdtree, so Gideon is still at the roundtable. I just couldn't help but grill Melina in the Flame Peak already. I needed to play through Farum Azula to get some cool stuff for the DLC... So the only things left for my characters in the base game are Malenia, Maliketh, and the Ashen Capital/boss rush. I'll be playing once blind with the first character, and then with the second character after watching all the content I'm already saving up on KZbin! Let's see how long it'll take...

A lore tidbit I had on my mind recently that I think should be looked into is one of the first lines we hear from Melina. "One of his/her kind is sure to seek the Elden Ring. Even if it does violate the Golden Order." First, _all_ tarnished seek the Elden Ring, so that's not a bold statement. Second, they do so nominally to _restore_ the Golden Order. Third, she shouldn't know about unleashing the Rune of Death until we take her to Leyndell, if we believe her about not knowing her purpose. Finally, it sounds like her true goal from the beginning was to violate the Golden Order. She's merely looking for a tarnished who is willing to go that far in order to reach the Elden Ring. You get the Elden Ring, she gets to violate the Golden Order, you both get to achieve your goals. But what was her goal really? Did she always intend to unleash the Rune of Death? Was she lying to us about not knowing her purpose? Where does she go when you take her to Leyndell? Does she die to the Flame of Ruin? What is she really trying to achieve in all of this? It doesn't help that we know almost nothing about Melina aside from what she herself tells us.

I don't always agree with you Zio, and we've had a few back-and-forth's. But I respect and appreciate you giving us spoiler free content when everyone else is racking up views with the new preview content. I am staying away from spoilers as well. A lot of people don't consider that things like art direction, new weapons and their animations, locations of castles and landscape etc. are very spoiler-y content. fun fact: if you charge a heavy attack without a weapon on the horse you wont bounce off the mausoleums so you can just run around the foot twice and clear them all out. Takes just a few seconds.

I highly highly doubt the base game mausoleums will duplicate the DLC remembrances. There will likely be a DLC specific way to do this.

I am overleveled af for this, lol. I meet the requirements to wield EVERY weapon and cast EVERY spell/incantation currently in the game. Being able to switch to just whatever tf I feel like at the time is really nice, lol.

I’m avoiding most spoilers. I saw some of Steelovsky’s video where he shows off some of the new weapons and some of the new weapon classes, but I essentially just skimmed through the video because I didn’t want to know all the new stuff that people have found in the early access DLC. I cannot wait for the DLC. Also, I can’t believe you’ve never used the crafting system. Maybe since I PvP a lot, it seems more crazy since so many crafted materials are necessary especially for invasions, but still. There’s a bunch of craftable items that are great for PvE as well. It seems so strange not to take advantage of this mechanic.

yeah for sure, I use it for warming stones when in a pinch, cracked pots, cotton boots, prism stones, arrows, throwing knives, crystal darts for setting imps/watchdogs on eachother, betwitching branches (see above but for hoomans) the list goes on

I started another play through when they announced the dlc launch. Haven't had much time, so i'm only at carrion manor. I plan on doing the minimum to enter dlc. That way, I can take the new weapon types back to the base game for a different experience to finishing the play through

I think its more likely for Melina/Malenia to be involved if you see their quests to the end. Giving Malenia her "dignity" back and freeing Melina from her bodiless state. When Millicent removes the needle its description states it's free from rotted blood, but has a layer of dew clinging to it. Whatever part of Malenia Millicent is, I think you're reuniting them when you give the needle to the Aeonia. There's a lot of lore hinting that Malenia in particular isn't dead when you beat her. And Melina is very clear that she wants to burn, and I wonder if her presence might be felt in the DLC as a result.

Crazy theory. Miquella is said to have wanted to help his sister melania and cure her of her curse, he also wants to cure himself of his. The game states that he abandoned his fate, one cannot simply abandon their fate as the fate of the demigods is guided by the stars, as an empyrean it can be speculated this his fate is to become the new god by creating a new great tree, As evident in the game, however we also see that his tree didn’t succeed and he was kidnapped by Mohg, Miquella abandons his fate and his flesh to enter the shadow realm. Maybe he wants to achieve something in the shadow realm that is greater even than him creating a new tree and by abandoning his fate he anticipated Mohg taking him, that’s how he abandons his flesh. You can’t use the strength of a god if you’re unconscious in an egg. It’s also said he has the allure of a god, since abandon implies he did it deliberately to abandon his fate along with this flesh he might have used his allure to convince radahn to stop that stars thus stopping fate. This was so he could enter the shadow realm from being in his egg, it’s said that radahn quickly rose to fame in his younger days after stopping the stars, since the demigods fate is guided by the stars is safe to say that all the demigods knew that radahn had stoped them. So after abandoning his fate he knew Mohg would take advantage of his cocoon state but not before melania would think that radahn stopped to stars to deliberately mess with her and Miquella’s fat e. After seeing that the both of them might not be cured and her brother couldn’t become god she got angry and challenged radahn to kill Him and release the stars. While she was off fighting, Mohg came and took Miquella from the tree, basically killing him which allowed Miquella to enter the shadow realm because his flesh was now useless and his fate and been stoped. Now to enter the shadow realm we must kill Radahn, possibility implying that to aid Miquella we need to set his fate in motion once again, he basically altered his fate by pausing it and continuing it again?.
