I've never realized that Shabriri was the most hated man in the world because he falsely accused an entire tribe of merchants of heresy and made them bury under the capital, they went crazy and summoned the frenzy, but maybe Shabriri was already a envoy of the frenzied flame
@khandimahn96872 жыл бұрын
No buts about it. Shabriri was already under the sway of the Frenzied Flame. A theory is that he was originally a Nomadic Merchant himself, and had been spreading the word among them. So when the persecution happened the Order decided to lock the whole clan away. Even if very few had converted, it was enough so when they were locked up it was easy to show the rest how to summon the 3 Fingers as a big F-U to the Order.

@@khandimahn9687 A personal theory of mine is that he might have been a prophet and follower of Goldmask like Corhyn. Then Goldmask dies under seemingly mysterious circumstances(there's a goblet next to him in the intro implying poison) and his accusations(possibly at the Golden Order) lead to his blinding followed by the despair that leads him to the Frenzied Flame. He then accuses the Caravan of heresy leading to their genocide and drawing out even MORE of the Frenzied Flame into the world and him becoming the most reviled and despised man in history for this.
@jackreacher74952 жыл бұрын
Man, I would hate it if Shabriri's origins were that fucking mundane. Seriously, that kinda crushed my dreams lol. My friend and I theorized that Shabriri was the origin/first champion of the Frenzied Flame because he was the first man to experience hatred, revile, persecution in the age of the Erdtree. We figured that the in-universe "science" was that, since everyone and everything is just a byproduct of a single point of origin, the suffering one endures is rejected in the same way as the fell curse and Dung Eater's traumatizing way of inflicting it. Kind of like the Erdtree itself was rejecting this pain, letting it back in. That's also why the Two Fingers and Three Fingers are separate - the Three contain all of that human suffering throughout humanity's existence, was cut off, and locked away deep, deep underground, where it wouldn't taint the Golden Order or the souls who are part of its cycle. We theorized, then, that Shabriri was persecuted because he was the first to speak out against the Golden Order, and was then seen as this freak for not being happy with Marika's perfect world. The suffering he endured, not being able to die, drove him to frenzied madness. To us, that kind of origin story is tragic and in-line with something GRRM would write: a fantastical spin on what's otherwise a gritty, nasty aspect of the human experience. None of this boring bullshit (sorry) about Shabriri tricking merchants into the catacombs
@doomrider72 жыл бұрын
@@jackreacher7495 which were you responding to? Khandi Man or mine because I can see that one alongside the Goldmask follower(Corhyn wears blindfolds and the starting class lore is that the prophets faced some kind of persecution) and while a follower of the Golden Order, the Order Healing incantation implies he was disappointed with the pointless violence and unquestioning fanaticism of the Golden Order in finding and enemy to fight as if to justify its own rule and existence.

I see Elden Ring lore as the conflict of life, in the lands between we several lifeforms trying to dominate one another, i belive that since the fire of the giants was dominated by Marika, the lands between fell into chaos, in agriculture, fire is used to "clean" the fields when a new plantation is to be planted, so in a sence fire is the force that keeps balance, and in Elden Ring the fire of the giants it's the only thing that can damage the Erdtree but without the fire (thanks to Godfrey and Marika) life went out of control, the Erdtree grew and "infested" the altus plateu, Rot went out of control and had to be sealed only to imerged in Malenia who destroyed Calied, (there is even an item desciption that says the soldiers of Redahan use fire to keep the rot at bay) and the mountain top of the giants froze. But out of this unbalanced fate, a new fire was born, the Frenzied Flame, created from the maddening music played by the nomadic merchants who were banished to the catacoms by the greater will, a new fire to burn all to the ground. "May chaos take the world"

I always thought that the erd tree was a sort of parasite ever since I first played on release. Just because in chapter 345 of Berserk they go into a long exposition about what the world tree is in that manga. Basically they describe the world tree as a sort of fissure that permeates all of existence and wants to grow and stretch into everything, but there are several mistletoe like tree parasites which are groomed by wizards that leech the energy from the world tree, preventing it from stretching too far, and allowing things from deeper astral planes from leaving their respective realms (Like the idea of evil). Now with this new petrification theory I think the erd tree in elden ring is somewhat of a parasite like these mistletoe trees and it's purpose is to maintain the order and not allow the previous tree or world tree (which could be the old giant petrified tree) from reaching too far into another plane and possibly allowing something to break free. Edit: This could also explain why we see all the other erd tree trunks in the final boss arena, as there are several other mistletoe trees all over the world tree in Berserk, they could be erdtrees from other astral planes all trying to contain whatever the old giant petrified tree is.

Another great video. Regarding the two trees hypothesis, the image above the entrance to the Erd Tree clearly shows three separate entities. The first is the great tree. The second, appearing up the trunk of the great tree looks quite like a mushroom and the third is a tree of light emerging from this point. If the falling star actually hit the great tree up the trunk and destroyed its upper canopy, the top section of the remaining trunk (where the elden beast is located) could look like the crucible we see in the flame of frenzy ending. This provides a clear historical timeline. The Age of the Greattree, the Age Of The Crucible, and then the Age of the Erd Tree, which emerges from the crucible once the flame of ruin has been tamed. Interestingly, when trees are grafted together, the root stock and lower trunk of a hardy species, called the stock, are attached at this same point, to the upper trunk and crown of a more delicate ornamental, called a scion. The crucible section, functions as a kind of haustorium, connecting the two. So the Erd Tree is essentially a grafted tree, which should come as no surprise really.

The erdtree being a dead tree wrapped in gold seems to just be for shadowing that Radagon the Golden is merged with Marika. Radagon imo was on a conquest. As with olden times ppl married to acquire lands and power. With the magic Radagon learned from the Carians and then making his own, he broke Marika out of her enslavement to the greater will. Then given her moment of freedom, she shattered the Elden Ring. I think Radagon and Marika orchestrated it all when they got their chance after Ranni coincidentally stole the rune of death. Food for thought.

So why’d Radagon try to repair it then
@FLYEboi502 жыл бұрын
@@teetheluchador He sought the power for himself as the new "god". For both of their transgressions, they were crucified. @FLYEboi502 жыл бұрын
@@teetheluchador To be clear, he planned to get the Elden Ring by mending it after she planned to destroy it. I want to say they both knew of each other's intent. Because whoever possesses the fully made Elden Ring, their will is not their own(which is why Ranni detests the "greater will"). So since Radagon failed to mend it, she lead any tarnished to come finish the job (which is why Godfrey's guidance of grace or any other tarnish's guidance points to different directions for them to reach their goal). That make sense? Or at least that's what I took away from all this lore stuff.

On the Godfrey Phantom/Morgott encounter thing: I think the reason why the Lord’s Apparition doesn’t appear unless you’ve fought Margit in front of Stormveil is probably to be consistent with Morgott’s motive to follow you. If you never encountered him before approaching the Elden Throne, then 1.) you haven’t seen his ability to create phantoms, and 2.) he would likely not be so determined to stop you before actually seeing you in-person. If you don’t have context for Morgott’s powers, the Godfrey phantom is probably weird - I know many people thought they had actually killed the “soul” of Godfrey, or his spirit that remained with the Erdtree when he was sent away, and were confused when he showed up alive as ever later.

Little bonus theory on top of the fungus theory, I was thinking about the sites and guidance of grace is similar to some more parasitic fungi, that gestate in the stomachs of some creatures like rats or mice. It encourages the infected host to "seek out" cats, because once eaten by the cats, it allows them to reach their next stage in life. So the grace makes me think that the "fungus" is guiding us to where we need to go so it can evolve, and does so to all tarnished, like a hive mind calling it's remnants back to itself.

The jars carry the ashes of people to the trees It could also be their spirits that get sucked up by the tree roots and that's why they glow and give the illusion of a fungi spreading But in this case it's more like vines growing into the tree Why they fully grow at the base but towards the very top there's some spots it hasn't reached yet Just an idea

Man, the travelling merchants story always seems so sad. They seem to be a completely innocent group that faces hard ship and slander for really no reason at all. They are people of the land that seem to only wish to make a meager honest living and play folk music with their caravan. And they kinda get treated like crap for that. It's just not right. I loved that they did music for the people and creatures of the Lands Between to give a more human feel to them instead of making everything insane mindless creatures for you to just whack with your sword. The mythologies and cultures that these ideas came from is part of a very rich history. It was a really cool thing to put in the game but it's also sad to see it used as a part of stories of good people being slandered in the writing. Music is just not meant to be used like that. A pretty accurate analogy for how most internet groups work these days, unfortunately. (Probably why I stay away from PvP. Some of you lack any real honor and put your nuts on everything.) I'm glad that real folk music still touches people and was at least mentioned in the game though. My heart always goes to the ones that face the harshest adversity anyway. Like the omen, merchants, ancestor followers, and the albanorics. You know those are the ones who are the real good people in these games. No agenda, no poor treatment of others, just honest people.

@@AC-hj9tv They could possibly be seen that way. I'm not sure what religion they follow in the game, but seeing as they are nomadic I would categorize them more along the lines of Gypsies as they travel by caravan. It would make sense as there is a fair amount of history of prejudice and discrimination towards them in Europe. Including and specifically done by the Catholic church.

I have an odd theory. In traditional alchemy the soul is divided into mind, body, and spirit. Mind is often thought of as relating to the moon and to female. Soul is more fiery, sulfur, the Sun, male, etc. Also, in Egyptian mythos, the right eye represents Ra/the Sun and the left eye is Horus/ the moon. It's obvious that Radagon/Marika share a body, and it's explicitly said in D's armor description that they share a soul but have separate minds. Is it possible that Melina and Ranni share a mind? D twins share a soul, which is male, but Melina and Ranni could share a mind which is female. Also, Melina has her "moon" eye closed, as well as Ranni's spirit body, although you could argue that Ranni's right eye is the one that's closed. In the two part souls you often see one representing the sun and the other representing the moon, just like a Rebis (again referencing alchemy.) Marika is the Moon (or the white queen) and Radagon is the Sun (or red haired king) The D twins occupy either the silver part of the armor (moon) or the gold (sun) Melina has her golden eye open, and appears at sights of grace to represent the sun (gold, erdtree), and Ranni has obvious connections to the Moon.
@Brinkalski2 жыл бұрын
TL;DR Melina and Ranni share a mind but have separate bodies and souls. They could potentially be closing off their connection to each other by keeping one eye closed.

I found something recently, but the beasts that are hanging from the Pillars of the Bestial Sanctum wear a similar neckpiece to the one Serosh wears. I’m not sure what this means or if they’re similar and there’s nothing else to it. I also noticed something at the place where you get the Cinqueda dagger, the floor kind of looks like an elevator, and in the center your character floats as if there was an inactivated pressure plate. As if there was going to be a way down or up. Again, idk if this means anything but thought at least the first one was interesting enough.

I've got one better for you guys. You ready? All the turtles in the Lands Between... are actually tortoises. Yea, I know, mind blown. If you look close enough on the 3rd to last scute it says it right there; "I am a fucking tortoise". Right below the crossed out "dog".

So when we stick with the theory that the Erdtree is a fungus, then grace would be some sort of spore? Fugus taking over dead bodies via spores sounds like quite the troupe. Yet at the ending, it says "the leaves are telling us...", but fungus do not have leaves. Or we really clear the fungus part and establish a new tree, or the people just don't know better. But I really like the Idea that the mountain top is a tree stump. This could also explain why the whole map is so weirdly shaped, as all of the lands between could also have been a huge ancient tree and with every iteration the next tree got smaller and smaller.

About D's questline, the silver part of the armor is blindfolded to symbolise Justice (Justice is blind) in my opinion
@boii35422 жыл бұрын
The silver armor could be a play on the tarot card "fool", in some versions the fool is blindfolded while walking off a cliff unknowingly. Wasn't one of the Raya Lucaria masks also blindfolded? I think Gael's arena and the arena of Godfrey/Margit fight are pretty similar in theme: ruined buildings, ash or sand, a bunch of thrones/seats. Margit's phase transition, when he shoots goo from the ground has a similar feel to Gael's red explosion thing attack.
@Stormmblade2 жыл бұрын
Clearly the silver armor and blindfold are references to the concept of justice being blind. Because if he wasn't blind, clearly D would be simping for Fia just like literally everybody else /s

Cool note but not really a discovery about the flame chariots - they're very reminiscent of a plot point in Targaryen history (possible spoilers for House of the Dragon if they ever get to Aegon the Unworthy's reign) where after the dragon's died the terrible king of the time got pyromancers to make fake dragons that are basically dragon shaped wooden chariot things, super impractical and quickly discontinued but it's very similar to these since these flame chariots are in the shape of fire giants instead. Probably just parallel thinking but it might be a deliberate reference.

One thing i think about is what if godwyn had that mermaid tale of the crucible BEFORE his death? The only time he appears is in the opening cutscene where his lower half in conveniently facing away from us. His two brothers are omens, theres the crucible knights linked to Godfrey... That would make Godfrey's relation with the crucible even deeper
@orichalonhades52752 жыл бұрын
if he's an omen like his brothers then he would have been sent to the depths of the capital too. He is described as perfect and where the "Golden Line" came from, so there's basically no chance of him being an omen.
@arthurvidalmendes18732 жыл бұрын
@@orichalonhades5275 i didn't say he's an omen i said maybe he was already touched by the crucible, not necessarily an omen. We know crucible knights were discriminated later on but in Godfrey's time they were his soldiers. He wouldn't be an omen just have a fish tail. There is more chance I'm wrong than otherwise but it's convenient we never see his legs or statues with his lower half etc
@GodEmperorOfShorts2 жыл бұрын
I've always kind of assumed he had the tail, since the few (two times) hes seen he's wearing the black cloth at his waist, just like his corpse at in the deep root depths. And the omens might be have BECOME an ill omen after Godwyn's death. Obviously there is really no way to "prove this", it just sort of naturally flows with a lot of themes the game presents.

I think the Erdtree is a sentient being and a predatory plant, like a Venus Flytrap. If you think about it, The whole outer god/ Greater will might just be some sort of hallucination or mind control through vibration. And it's goals are the basic goals of any being: to survive, thrive and reproduce. What if all the guiding grace, 2 Fingers and everything else was created to have a Kingdom of people who protect the tree and venerate it. And it just so happens they went out of there way in this game to drive home the point that Erdtree burial is the highest honor one could have. So basically, have nutrient-rich corpses dumped into the soil where the Erdtree's roots grow.
