Science fact about Dark Souls: the Sunlight Spear is not just lightning, is plasma, is described as similar to the sun, that is made of plasma, and a way to make plasma is using electromagnatical fields, this could explain the difference between natural lightning in Dark Souls being blue and miracle "lightning" being yellow, because is actually plasma
@Photoloss2 жыл бұрын
Nah plasma doesn't have a specific consistent colour, not even if we limit it to stars. The sun appears yellow to us but if we could see other stars as close with the naked eye you'd basically get any colour on the spectrum depending on their (surface) temperature. Then there's coloured flames and specifically prepared incandescent devices (sodium and neon lamps for example) which are also plasma but tied to atomic spectral lines rather than thermal black body radiation. Basically as far as Dark Souls goes the connection is "sun"/"not sun" via Gwyn's motif not plasma physics.

The “you’re beautiful” prattling Pate is likely Boc’s mother Firstly Boc has many self esteem issues with his appearance, so his mother saying he’s beautiful would make sense We know Boc and his mother were likely the only 2 Demi-humans that can speak And finally the item states it is in the shape of a Demi-Humans head

I don't think we can say Boc and Mom-Boc were the only demihumans who could speak. They absolutely communicated with Kenneth Haith at some point just before the events of the game. They had staves and learned sorceries from Raya Lucaria. Boc even says he communicates with other demi-humans (it just doesn't go well). Demi-humans are intelligent, but some other thing must have happened to make them non-communicative.
@NatheerTheExample2 жыл бұрын
@@SocraTetris that’s why I say likely, and to rebut, the Demi-human queens are the only ones who can use sorcery, and the staff has the lowest int required to wield it, meaning they are un-intelligent compared to other Magic users. And to rebut your point on saying “Boc communicates with other demi-humans” Of course he did, every creature possesses some form of communication, even ants. So to say that they can all speak English is somewhat strange, and considering Boc likely grew up around other demi-humans it’s likely he can speak in their tongue (so to speak), and he likely learnt English from his mother, and is fluent in both languages (again so to speak, Demi-humans more so roar and make animalistic noises as communication, like when a demi-human agro’s onto you, it holds out it’s sword and roars as to alert the flock) I reckon Demi-humans are intelligent, I mean they can craft weapons, use basic communication, have a hierarchy, from Pinions to Chiefs. These are all basic constructs of what is considered continuousness/intellect, but to what extent their intellect goes is up for debate I think supposedly that the Queens are forced to the top of the Hierarchy from being able to use Glintstone magic. This shows some sort of higher-order thinking as they can learn and adapt to using these new tools (such as weaponry or Glintstone magic) And considering the crystal barrage is similar to Cuckoo Glintstones in the sense that they are essentially a volley of high octane Glintstone shards it’s likely that the Demi-Human queens are using some sort of ability to shatter the Glintstones to fire, or even the spell does it itself. Think about it, we never see any other creatures (aside from ourselves) use Crystal Burst and Crystal Barrage, this is likely due to no writings about the spells existing as Demi-humans can’t speak English (for the most part). Even then they’re both mere imitations of the real, stronger versions of the spells, that being the Crystal Torrent, and the Shattering Crystal. In the description for the Crystal Burst and Crystal Barrage it says “the secrets locked in the faint cogitation of the Crystallians” implies that likely, at some point or another a High Ranking official of the Demi-human society (such as a Queens - of higher intellect of course) witnessed a Crystal using the Crystal Torrent and Shattering Crystal spells (as they can naturally use it), and noticed it’s high effectiveness, this likely lead to them trying to replicate something of that caliber, resulting in the Crystal Barrage and Burst. They would then likely share it with the other queens and use it as a sort of ‘trade secret’ in a sense, keeping it for rebellions. But then during the shattering they most likely would’ve needed to defend their flock, leading them to use it on most they see. And to further your point on Kennath Haight, it’s safe to assume certain, more intelligent Demi-human queens adapted the ability to speak English like Boc and his mother, considering there is the corpse of a Demi-Human Queen in Fort Haight. Alternatively Boc or his Mother could be ambassadors of sorts for the Demi-humans. Now you may also be wondering “what about Demi-human Queen Maggie”, I think personally she is one of the aforementioned high ranking Demi-human queens, and the reason she’s near Azur and his a few Raya Lucarian Scholars with her is probably because she wanted the Scholars to make her learn the Prime-evil sorcery of Comet Azur, in order to dominate the enemy. Furthermore said Scholars are likely enslaved, as near by we find the Hierodas Glintstone crown and the Errant sorcerer set. It’s likely the Academy of Raya Lucaria sent a scout team to Mount Gelmir, lead by Hierodas, (as stated in the Hierodas Glintstone crown: The crown of Hierodas was given to scholars who engaged in nomadic study away from the academy), but were ambushed by the Headless Abductor (which I speculate the demi-humans removed it’s head so it could be a trap for passerbys), and a battle started between the Scholars. The scholars likely lost and what happened next is up for interpretation, but I think likely Maggie is one of the few Demi-humans who can speak English like Boc and his Mother. It would so happen the Scholars likely also went up there to find Azur, for the same reason. However we know Azur doesn’t just hand out the Spell, and likely only gave it to us because he could sense familiarity, that being of Sellen, one of his pupils (probably due to our repertoire of spells - though idk how he did that). Perhaps that’s why Maggie and her army are just standing there, perhaps they’re waiting for travelers like us, to ambush and kill out of spite, that we can learn Comeg Azur, but they can’t. Edit: jesus, i’m sorry I had to make you read of that 💀

@@just70hq nah I don’t recall him saying anything about the prattling Pate, even in the description of the Pate it doesn’t say anything regarding Boc, only that it’s a Demi-human and it’s likely a mother speaking. On a side note, considering Prattling Pates are clay sculptures, made in the image of someone, it’s probably that they can absorb the souls of those who they’re constructed after, like the “You’re beautiful” being constructed after Bocs mother, and the “Let’s get to it” is likely a construction of a Colosseum Warrior, who died in battle, with the Clay fetish made in his honor. Further evidence of this claim is that when you use a prattling Pate the voices are in-human and Emit a sort of ashy wind, almost like that of the Tibia summons. Ik it’s definitely not wind from you speaking as when you do either of the waving emotes the tarnished doesn’t have the same smoke being emitted from his/her mouth. The implication that the wind is that of the ghost flame definitely has implications of souls. Perhaps the things the Clay says were their last words. A colosseum warrior would definitely say something along the lines of “let’s get to it” or “let the battle commence” and considering they don’t talk, perhaps he knew he’s lose. And I speculate Boc’s mother’s last words were such, as on her death bed, she used her last breaths to show her compassion for her son, saying something as solemn and simple as… “you’re beautiful” Along the lines of the other Pates it implies comedic deaths. For example Prattling Pate Hello: the soul likely found an imp statue, and jokingly said “hello”, just for it to spring to life and butcher him. Prattling Pate “Thank You”: the soul likely thanked a partner or friend, and was either betrayed or shot in the back of the head by a stray arrow/bolt from a sniper Prattling Pate “apologies”: the soul was likely pleading for this life, before execution Prattling Pate “Wonderful”: perhaps the soul was the sarcastic type, and was also executed, saying wonderful as he was killed Prattling Pate “Please help”: Do I really have to explain this one? Prattling Pate “My beloved”: likely a similar case to Boc’s mother. Alternatively considering it was found in the Haligtree, it might have been a Cleanrot knight attempting to rescue Miquella from Mohg, as Mohg likely left through the branches as we know he can fly using the Bloodboon ritual, and it’s likely this Knight was the sacrifice for the ritual, muttering something like “Miquella… my beloved” as he bled out (further confirmation is that of everyones immense love or respect toward Miquella)

6:30 Actually it's probably in reverse, the scarlet rot transforms regular dogs into mutated dogs, then into those disfigured giant dogs and then into crows, it's not muscle memory that causes them to hit the ground, it's conditioning, the rot is affecting their brain. There aren't any crows in the game that I remember, so my theory is crows are servants of rot, they get the ability to fly and hair in turn.

The point of the dogs hitting the ground is part of the process, giving them that reflex so that when they become a fully made crow they can use it.

Just a theory I wanted to share with you: It seems fairly obvious to me that the second Round Table Hold that you find in Leyndell is the in the current timeline and the one Melina brings you to is in the past since the one in Leyndell is identical but dilapidated. The biggest clue to this is the description of the Coded Sword that is found upon the throne of the Two Fingers in the Leyndell version of the Round Table Hold: "Hidden sword once granted to the Tarnished of the Roundtable by the Two Fingers. A formless cipher comprises its blade, which deals holy damage no shield can repel. Champions would gather at the Roundtable Hold in days long past, when the Two Fingers were masters of oration, their flesh yet full of vigor." Its not a secret that many believe that Ranni the Witch is Melina, and time travel would highly support this since Ranni’s real body is long dead. So Melina could be the past version of Ranni. In my theory, the event of the shattering actually fragmented reality itself, making different times as well as realities collide. I believe some characters are aware of this phenomenon, and some are not. Possible effected characters: Melina: Melina is Ranni Support for this theory is: 1) Ranni has a ghostly figure next to her that shares an eye with her, the eye is closed and would match Melina’s closed eye, it even has a similar symbol underneath. 2) Both Ranni and Melina fade away in similar fashion. 3) Both Ranni and Melina know Torrent Millicent: I think Millicent is Malenia, either from the past or from an alternate reality. Her ‘sisters’ could be from alternative realities as well (making 6 versions in all, more on that later) support for this theory includes: 1) her missing the same arm 2) her knowing the water foul dance 3) Gowry saying “No, she must embark on her journey, and stare her fate in the eye.” when speaking of her visiting Malenia at the Halig Tree. 4) Millicent believes she is related to Malenia in some way but can’t even ponder it herself, even mentioning she might be an “offshoot” of some kind. 5) Gowry when speaking of her death and personal decision to take out the needle he remarks “Millicent... Malenia... Do you detest us, so utterly?” of course he can be speaking of 2 people, but with everything else in consideration it can certainly be seen both ways. All of this of course would mean that Gowry is aware of the fragmentation of reality. Goldmask: I believe Goldmask is part of a paradox within the fragmented reality. Him wanting to study the Golden Order leads him to actually creating it! His ‘mending rune of perfect order’ would end up becoming the ‘Golden order’ An interesting revelation I had is that Goldmask is very similar to the 2 fingers, as he does not speak and moves his arms (and fingers) in a method of communication. Brother Corhyn even mentions this a few times. Other loose possibilities: Abducted Miquella is from the past alternate reality as he is in his seedling form before he was able to sprout into the Haligtree Jar Barin becomes Alexander when he absorbs his heart. One of the more important parts of my theory is that every alternative reality is governed by each of the six endings or (ages) being the perfect number as I mentioned earlier there are six alternate versions of Malenia/Millicent. Each possible age all ready has influence in the lands between even though they have not happened yet as they are all part of this fragmented timeline and clash of alternate realities. When an NPC invades it does so from another world or ‘reality’ the Urd tree and minor Urd trees act as conduits to the link between these worlds explaining why when you kill Urd Tree Avatars certain NPC invaders can no longer invade. When the Urd tree is set ablaze the the link is weakened causing the fire to seep into the time rift which results in the past version of the round table hold burning down, leading to it’s eventual current state that you find it in Leyndell. Another thought is about Melina's hands: Melina has scar tissue on her hands. This could mean she has been the burning maiden before in previous ages, she keeps trying to fix the broken timeline, in every age (alternate reality).

Morgot's weapons of light would definitely be cool incantations for faith builds. Wondered if they would appear as since the same concept exists for magic users with the Carian spells. Hopefully that could be an addition with DLC. Also the origins of species in the game definitely could lead to more interesting discoveries. I recently talked with one of my friends about the Norse mythology aspects in the game and he pointed out that he also noticed the idea of Animism in the world's physical make up. The body and hands becoming living creatures had similar logic behind the origin story of Ymir. Ever wonder why as time goes on species get smaller? In Norse mythology it's because life came from one great giant and divided into smaller beings that became the gods that divided further and became humans and elves and every other creature. It's also interesting to note that Ymir also became the world itself. His bones the mountains, blood the sea, hair the grass and trees, skull the dome of the sky and thoughts the clouds. With all the references to parts of the body in this game it appears to have some circulation to this idea. Could the lands between be made from the body of even larger primordial giants the same way Farum Azula beastmen seem to be entwined and part of the land and architecture in those areas? And why is each area in the game so environmentally linked to the beliefs of each Demi god that presides over them? Calid and the mountaintops are full of imagery of giants becoming part of the land, and knowing From Soft the symbolism definitely means something. If you'd like to go looking in that direction I'd definitely point you towards the Giant Ymir's story. My theory is that this might mean that the setting is telling us that we may be in the mind of a very large entity. Or like the world is on the back of a giant turtle in Hindu mythology.

"To" is the neutral article, but the word itself has weird meanings for a word connected to battlemages: it means (from most used to least used) "blood", "massacre", "bloodline", "kinship" and "wine" in Christian ancient greek (you can guess why). Also, I'm referring to mainly atheniese ancient greek, since it's the most used nowadays in topics like medicine. If anyone wants to correct me, I will greatly appreciate it.

for the golden weapons from morgott what if when u defeated margit he drops along with the talisman pouch, an idol or something thats called margits will and its like the infants head using fp for an attack but it randomizes which golden weapon you get and you can only get two when killing margit. For example u kill margit and he drops the item and then u get randomly chosen to get two out of the 3 weapons he uses (the hammer, the dagger, or the sword) You use the item and it will either use the dagger as a throwing, the sword as melee (and you can use light attack to continue on to do a combo) or you can get the hammer and its a mini swing and then jump and slam. All three do decent dmg and dont take that long to start up but you only get access to 2 and its random which one you use when you use it. The highest dmg btu slowest is the hammer, and the fastest but lower dmg is the dagger. Then after you beat morgott esscence fills the idol and it upgrades (upgrades dmg too) and then you could do all 4 attacks and the last one that would be added is the spear. Which you swing in a circle then slam it down to the ground to create a mini morgott raining spear attack that lats like 6 seconds. Instead of randomizing when you use the item it will use them in a cycle and maybe you could edit it to change the cycle. idk im really high after a 2 day T break and just thought of this shit off the top of my head would be cool tho.

If you speculate on the nature of what the Elden Ring represents you might find an interesting correlation with the lands between itself also representing a ring or a spiral. The ring being a metaphysical representation of the rules that govern life and the life cycle it creates. At one point the Giants mountains and Farum Azula could've been connected, and like the ring of a life cycle, it was broken at the point of death before rebirth. So if Farum Azula is a domain of death, the Lands between must represent life as a ring as one climbs and grows with the spiral of its landscape, until death forms a loop in the ring of the life cycle and resets it back to the beginning. The setting might be a succession of diminishing world trees. The lands between being the original heartwood and the mentions other lands being the outer layer, then a large tree that was the mountaintop of the giants, and then the Great Tree. The diminishing stopped when the Great Tree was not allowed to die under Marika's care, instead being swallowed up by the Elden Beast's Erd shroom. This is reflected in the stature of man as well, we start with the fire giants, then trolls, then Godfrey and gladiator sized humans, then humans proper, and the next era was already emerging in the vulgar militia pygmies.

I started my first ng+ just before the patch, so I was mid exploring the world again, and my near/far invasion range is the entire game (all catacombs/mines and I basically ignored these in NG+, endgame areas I'm not back to yet). So if there is an exploration requirement for near/far invasions it looks like you don't need to re-explore the world in NG+ cycles to expand that range for invading.

I also found a small detail while playing the game. During Boc's questline , you find him in the coastal cave writhing in pain. If you cast heal near him he will become more silent ( as if part of his pain is relieved ) . Reloading the game cancels this action tho . I know its a really small detail , but I found it very interesting !

Something I noticed is that the rot infested growth (the big white things) in Caelid actually bleeds when you attack it. I thought it was and interesting detail and I'm pretty sure it's not a glitch. It might have something to do with how the god of rot lives within anything the rot infests, kind of like the fell god with the giants. It could also correlate with Elden Ring's themes of life within death. Like, the rot kills things but it also creates new life in a twisted way, like with the dogs and crows. I just thought it was cool and maybe someone better at lore hunting could look more in depth at it.

The dark moon dispels all sorcery that touches it, and temporarily reduces magic damage negation for those it strikes. This moon was encountered by a young Ranni, led by the hand of her mother, Rennala. What she beheld was cold, dark and veiled in occult mystery." It says right there that its the Carian Queen's spell. Not the Lunar Princess's spell. Which means that Ranni is Carian Queen. Which means... Rennala is also of course still there after we defeat her and take her remembrance. She is also Barefoot which is characteristic of suicide particularly in Japan. And we all know she isn't exactly in the greatest place mentally after Radagon leaves. Haven't you wondered why Ranni was raised by an Ice Witch and not by her mother? Or why Rennala's personal Queens Guard just up and defected to join Miquella? Because Rennala is dead. Play the fight again. The whole first phase, Rennala is floating. Like she is being held up by marionette strings (she is a puppet after all) and the second phase is Ranni using her mothers ashes to create a Rennala Spirit Summon. Theres even a bell ringing just before Rennala reappears as a blue spirit summon. Ranni of course gave us the ability to summon spirits in the first place. She is the puppet master. The majority of her forces are puppets. She is a puppet herself. Selvius is a puppet. Pidia makes puppets. The Rennala we fight is a puppet of Ranni. 100% no doubt in my mind. Nothing tells you this. This is all environmental storytelling. Just because no one says this in dialogue doesn't mean it's not true.

ThingFishy has a great video about the new light roll and Waterfowl as well. I'm still convinced there's a way to dodge it up close on medium load without the 360 run first. If you do WFD with Malenia's sword and no FP, you can see the path the blade takes, and I think you should be able to reliable roll through/around the first flurry up close. Also, I'm here for all the Miquella lore speculation. I never really paid attention to the painting in the intro but those are totally moth wings on his back! Malenia the butterfly and Miquella the moth is so intriguing. Also, his arm is super skinny and looks like a shorter, slightly deformed version of the one in Mogh's palace. I never noticed before. I think Mogh was communing with Miquella through a blood ritual, trying to grow him artificially to speed up the arrival of his "dynasty" when we interrupt him. Thinking it's anyone but Miquella is too far of a stretch in my opinion. I know From likes to be obtuse but sometimes the simplest answer is the right one.

I wonder if there is a real life mythological origin for the crow/dog mutants. I mean, this isn't the first time this theme has been explored in a Fromsoft game. There are dog-headed crow and crow-headed dogs in Bloodborne... could be a mix between the persian Simurgh and the norse crows & wolves... or a maybe a norse version of a griffin... idk i'll keep digging for something feasible. In terms of the 3 sisters by Solo Marika, they all have insect references, and all are in forms of butterflies. Malenia is the Aeonian Butterfly, Miquella is the Nascent Butterfly (nascent - coming into existence; Miquella is forever a child and potentially evolving), and Smoldering Butterfly is Melina (Melina was killed by Maliketh's Black Flame, and the smoldering butterfly is obviously burning)

there's no way the dogs and crows could be the same species, considering the dogs have actual mammalian features that birds just couldn't have even if you make the excuse that they've been distorted by rot. i think it's worth noting that no other rot-afflicted creatures exhibit any sort of mutation from scarlet rot except for the ones suffering from it like ekzykes, the rotten strays, rot afflicted zombies, etc. neither the birds nor the dogs deal any sort of rot damage, so it can be assumed they're not universally afflicted what's more realistic to the dogs being formerly birds is that the dogs emulate the crows' behaviors, since they appear similar and are constantly found in the same environments. dogs and many other animals are known to do this when exposed to other species they've grown up with

I'd have to hard disagree on the theory about the caelid dogs and birds being the same species, their only similarity is their big head and how they use their big heads. Their arms are in completely different positions in where they connect to their torso's, and your comment about birds not having teeth shows you've clearly never looked at a goose's mouth, they have teeth on their beaks and even their tongues have teeth. Now as for something I noticed recently when I was playing through Farum Azula, Placidusax when you look at him looks like, before he became mangled and disheveled as he is when we fight him, looks like he had golden skin. And, interestingly, imbedded into the some of the cliffs in the environment of Farum Azula, there appears to be either statues or corpses of dragons, who also appear to have golden skin. And this may hold an interesting connection or rivalry with the Godskin Apostles. Recently there came a video translated the latin lyrics of the Godskin Apostles OST, where one of the descriptors used in the lyrics about them hunting godly skin, was a lyric describing the godly skin they are after as golden skin. This could imply that Placidusax's fall from his status as Elden Lord may of been at the hands of the Godskin Apostles.

I really wish they would add mild changes (mostly of items) for new game plus. I almost feel like NG+ is a more satisfying experience being able to play the game with weapons, skills, and spells that you're now familiar with and have upgraded. It'd of been cool to have item swaps for things that are either redundant or capped, like seeds, tears, and memory stones. New, exclusive items, even if they don't translate to much gameplay-wise would be so appreciated.
@violettreglio29332 жыл бұрын
The golden seeds especially are annoying because even without going into ng+ you can collect more than you can use. You can't even sell them for runes. I think it'd be cool if you could exchange them with an npc in exchange for special items, kinda like dragon hearts, starlight shards, or deathroot.

Honestly being naked with a collosal sword(light rolling plus big sword and some incantations) is the strongest I've ever felt in the game. I definitely was getting more damage out of dual greatsword(blasphemous blade+ sword of Milos) but with the godslayers great sword on a medium equip load, I just never get hit. My rolling is ridiculous and then they even increased the attack speed of "strength based weapons" which technically, god slayers happens to be even though it favours Dex. The only time I've ever felt stronger was the one time I tried using RoB on a faith build. It was still more powerful than my build which has been buffed into Valhalla. I'm just so happy that noone ever experienced the aids of light rolling plus rivers of blood. That would just suck balls to defend against in PvP. And honestly even sounds kinda broken for pve
