I've been pulling my hair out over how to finish the tops with cut zippers by the yard. This is exactly what I needed! THANK YOU!!!

Oh, this is wonderful. I am recovering from zipper phobia which started in my high school home eco. class. I was terrified of Mrs. A., my teacher. I am 71 years old now. Somethings just stay with you for a really long time. Anyway, I lover, love, love this technique and am excited to try it. Love and blessings, Jo Ann from Mississippi

I love your tutorials and your bloopers!! :) This will definitely help keep it folded while trying to insert the zipper.

Thanks for the tutorial. I have the hardest time with that but you make it look easy. I am going to practice.

Thanks Debby. This is a professional finish ... I have always tried to fold it the way you showed initially. Will definitely try your way next time.

Thank you. New to bag making so this will be a valuable process for me. It looks so much neater than other applications I have tried to follow. So happy to have found your channel. 🌹❤️🌹

Debbie, when do you finish your zippers like this as opposed to making zipper tabs? The problem I find with using tabs instead of this method, is when your working with a smaller pouch, the tabs take up too much real estate estate rendering your zipper opening too small. Love your honest presentation by the way. It makes you very likable. Your very natural, and not that KZbin phony hyper excited. Really enjoy watching you.

Thank you so much for your kind words! Typically I use this method when I have a recessed zipper, but there's really no reason that you couldn't do one end when it calls for zipper tabs... You still have to have a tab on the "closed" end, but if you kept the zipper away from the seam allowance, you'd have that extra bit of opening.

I just started one of these and put the fold in the back, then remembered I should watch the tutorial! Will that matter, do you think?
@sheilalance77465 жыл бұрын
I fold it that way, too, but I stick a pin in and sew up the outside on the machine

Great video! Do you allow an extra length for this method? Meaning if you need a 16 inch zipper do you cut 16.5?
@DebbyHunker5 жыл бұрын
Yes. You need to allow for the extra that’s bent over if you’re using zipper tape. Having said that, a prepared 16” zipper is longer than 16”... A 16” zipperhas 16” of zipper teeth, but the entire length of the zipper is about 17” long.
