Eli David was like a lot of men who had great power and responsibility thrust upon him. He was a man with flaws, caught between 2 worlds who eventually had to make the choice to stop straddling the line between them and step fully into one or the other. It was obvious that his choice led to a loss of some of his humanity, but you're right, he was still her father.
