Warrior is the only class playing poe2. The other class are playing Poe 1.5 and the monsters are still in Poe.

Stun duration is a joke. Some enemies don’t even get stunned too - like the Balbala map boss on Fortress. They also need to reduce the fixed attack times on all slams

Stun does feel very underpowered especially for Warrior/Mace. The enemy goes flying back. You have to walk back up to it. Charge up your slow ass attack. Then hope to hell it lands. After that you wait a year to be able to stun the enemy again. I feel like I can stun just as easy on some other classes and be able to get many more hits in.

I like the slower style of the Warrior, but it needs to hit harder and more explosively to make up for the lack of speed. It should act and hit like tank. A lot more area effect of slamming mace attacks.

Sometimes you cant even get a slam off because its so slow, and you die before the slam goes off. It's a problem. Currently running Stampede which stacks with MS and not attack speed, so it's better. But you have to either not use a armor base chest, or not use a armor based sheild, or both. They slow you down too much for Stampede to feel good.

Or just off screen the whole map with spark, or most any ranged skills. Warrior has that 1 ranged skill, magma balls or w/e. Only on 3 link, I have no passives or weapon for it, does crap dmg. Still feels nicer and chiller to use sometimes than my other skills that do way more damage.

Correct, they need to change the gem levels also for leveling. For example it will help a lot to have sunder on level 12 or even the ancestral warrior earlier in campaign. Or something to be more like here what Ziz is doing. Look how fast and easy is to deal damage with spark. Warrior is bad.

Yeah the only payoff for Mace/Shield skills feels like the high gem level scaling on totems, magma barrier and hammer of the gods...and those are still jank as hell to actually utilize, and other than magma barrier cost obscene amounts of mana at high levels, even if they kill pretty much everything if you get them off. Magma barrier can 1 shot entire packs with wildfire at +10-14 gem levels, but it takes forever to do so cause ignite prolif has 2 WHOLE SECONDS delay for some reason, really expecting them to buff that to at MOST 1 second...also a lot of bosses and even some white mobs don't really use any manual block-able hits...which seems kinda dumb, especially when some enemy "slams" are borderline indistinguishable from "strikes". I've been really enjoying 1 shotting bosses as Gemling Legionaire giants blood raise shield + weapon swap to dual 2h, but the build either completely obliterates content, or is completely obliterated by it, there is no in between and the main determiner is literally just "does this enemy have a blockable that doesn't just miss me all the time cause blockables are, for some reason, harder to get hit by than unblockables you have to dodge"....

What carn said is what I've been thinking about for a while. The animations of abilities seem in line with the new bosses and style, but the monsters feel like they're from PoE 1 or have the modifiers from it. It's so crooked. The amount of times I got killed using an actual 'escape skill' with escape shot or toxic growth locked me in too long. I can see what GGG are trying to go for but I'm seeing 2 big seperates here and they don't go well together.

The slow animations on melee feel sooooo bad. if it was just a long cooldown on the skill but it was a short animation to use it it would probably not feel so bad. its insane how many times i died inside an attack animation

Honestly just feel that the issue isnt the slow attack animation but the time it takes to die is too fast. Disagree on the CD take btw, worst part about some builds in Last Epoch were the ones where you'd use a 3-5 skill combo all with different cds.

the clunk in the skills as set up / payoff is okay, if the rest of them game was set up for it. The mobs are way faster then the player and so the ''slowed'' skills feel terrible because you cant actually set them up. As they said, warrior is a poe 2 class playing against poe 1 mobs.

Warrior really needs to be faster. All the skills are insanely clunky. They need to be more fluid and be able to chain into each other better and not all have massive attack speed penalties. 60% of base attack speed feels like such trash.

In terms of strong ascendancy nodes, Titan has Hulking Form, that's it. Most of the entry nodes, eg "Slightly more inventory", "Slightly more health", and "disable boneshatter", are just awful.

It seems like their design for warrior is way too cautious. IMO they have been more concerned with how to stop warriors from having fun or feeling powerful than designing the class to be enjoyable. I'm new to poe with 2, but I've played thousands of hours in every balders gate and Diablo. This is by far the worse experience I've ever had in an arpg with warrior. Around t10 maps warrior was miserable. I switched to a caster and it's so much easier and more enjoyable the differences felt like 2 different games. I'll be honest if GGG doesn't significantly fix warrior idk if I'll want to play my favorite class in poe2 again.

Could not agree more with Carn on the state of warriors. The damage is there and nothing else. Slow movement, slow attack, no defenses and clunky skills. Stampede should push mobs away with the exception of Unique monsters.

Feels clunky because you can't take the heat during those animations. Fix the melee phsysical defenses (armor/life) and it will fix a lot of problems. The mace skills being slow, but devastating is not the issue. It's just a different gameplay and one that quite a few people enjoy, so we shouldn't try to take it away.

@@papis7676 Agreed. Giant's Blood needs to have that serious drawback, else why would you ever choose to not take it? A guy with a single 2h hammer should not be completely disadvantaged, and the guys with a 1h hammer and shield should have some advantages as well. Of course, currently, the defensive situation makes shield mandatory, and the 1h hammers are garbage, lagging way too far behind their 2h counterparts. GGG balance at its best.

The mana issue is real. After leveling my Ancestral totem to level 37 I need to almost build my entire thing around recovery only to pay for skill cost. Definately not ideal, and no real way to reduce mana cost outside of 1 inspiration support. Nice interview, we all need Carn! :)

It feels like one person at GGG playtested Warrior to about tier 5 maps and decided it was good enough. The QoL issues aren't a big deal when enemies don't hit that hard, but as soon as enemies pose a bit of a threat, it all falls apart.

I just added armor on my monk, i'm pretty sure armor effects all hits, like how evasion doesnt make a difference between attacks and spells now, but... evasion states it only evades strikes, so slams and aoe spells basically always hit, but with just a little armor 20-25% which is pretty easy to get, feels like heavy diminishing returns after that, make a huge difference.

I started out as merc with an xbow, found a unique mace and went mace + grenade swap. I pushed to 91 in the early weeks and was fucking hating the game. Full res cap armor cap and block cap and I was dying more then my spark friends. I rolled a sorc and it was like I was playing a different game.

The worst part about mana costs with MELEE skills is that mana is an inherent INT stat, you literally get more mana by spec int nodes. Specially when attrib requirements are so high (and even tripled for some weapons), why would a fully melee warrior want to spec into that? If anything, Melee needs their own "energy" system where STR would give you the resources to "cast" your attacks. STR should give a character the power to swing big weapons MORE times.

Damage with two handed weapons actually doesn't work with some totem skills. The only things that work universally with most of the totem skills is attack speed, melee damage, global physical and area damage. My totems cost like 1100 life to cast at the moment, and I need to cast 4. That means I'm constantly almost killing myself just to get them off. The silliest thing about stampede is that the druid bear stampede pushes everything out of the way, lol.

A slower, powerfully hitting warrior cannot exist in a game where most skills pop enemies instantly anyway, even for DEX and INT classes. There's no trade-off. Which is a shame, because I like the concept, but it only works if the speed balances out overall. Also, as an additional note, Devastate Armor Explosion still works. I am doing the Stampede-Boneshatter combo and it still works fine... it just doesn't clear off your screen by hyper-chaining like it used to, which makes sense. Builds should not be able to clear something you can't even see, be it Boneshatter or Spark or whatever. It's dumb.

On the melee costing mana thing, I think it's ridiculous that you have to constantly upgrade your weapon hoping you get a good roll leveling while you have the resources, try to find enough accuracy to actually hit enemies with the damn thing, and also manage mana pool size and recovery while trying to find ways to stay alive against the almost unavoidable mountain of chip damage you have to take to finally land a hit against the damn enemies. I've played attack and spell builds and its honestly crazy to me that casters can just pop in a +1 level 40% inc spell damage wand with random other mods and never change their weapon till maps and attack builds still have to expend resources on accuracy on top of all the other bs Honestly I don't know why they insist on a feels bad mechanic like accuracy for the player, they already turned off the distinction for evading spells/attacks, but I would totally be fine if they decided to axe the exponential mana cost on melee gem levels and keep accuracy so there's at least one pseudo resource you have to work on as a melee guy. Carn is totally right in how odd it is that guy with big hammer needs to use arcane power to hit a guy in the face really hard. Edit: lol he even went into the accuracy thing afterwards, totally agree

There are many factors that contribute to an overall frustrating experience right now. I'm interested to see what will be addressed first and in what way.

While I play I say to myself well this sucks, I hope they fix it as soon as possible, so I'm carried by hope that after holidays GGG makes some changes so gameplay feels a lot better.

The slow attacks are not that hard to figure out. Make the attacks instant, give them a cooldown. We have CDR in the tree near the warrior. Give us a reason to use it. Sunder that casts instantly and didn't eat all your mana would be GREAT for clearing. A ton of mace skills would suddenly become viable if they just made them instant and threw a cooldown on them.

6:28 YES thank you. I'm running a HexBlast DemonForm build so I can't Build CI. I have 6k ES and still get 1shot randomly. I felt crazy with all the people saying ES is busted but it is only busted on 3 specific builds: Infernalist Minion builds, Spark CI MOM and Monk Invoker CI. I genuinely think Chaos damage is still overtuned, especially on white mobs where there is gonna be a whole pack of them waiting around a corner for you. I got flammed in global chat for saying this but I genuinely think they should make both the mobs and us tankier. The mobs should be tankier so we can play like they wanted us to, doing combos and multiple abilities. We should be tankier so we can actually do those combos without getting instakilled by a pack of mobs. I don't really care how they go about making us tankier (lowering the enemy damage or giving us more ways to get defense). I just hope they don't go the POE1 route where the game play is you 1 shot enemies or they will 1 shot you.

Magma barrier can 1 shot entire packs with wildfire at +10-14 gem levels, but it takes forever to do so cause ignite prolif has 2 WHOLE SECONDS delay for some reason, really expecting them to buff that to at MOST 1 second...also a lot of bosses and even some white mobs don't really use any manual block-able hits...which seems kinda dumb, especially when some enemy "slams" are borderline indistinguishable from "strikes". I've been really enjoying 1 shotting bosses as Gemling Legionaire giants blood raise shield + weapon swap to dual 2h, but the build either completely obliterates content, or is completely obliterated by it, there is no in between and the main determiner is literally just "does this enemy have a blockable that doesn't just miss me all the time cause blockables are, for some reason, harder to get hit by than unblockables you have to dodge"....

I love warrior so much and I'm mostly new to poe so I hope it gets to a good level. I feel like they expect you to use the active block and have time between actions so it makes some sense for the skill design but there needs to be more compensation for the downsides. Like give an aura that increases defense while using these additional mandatory attack speed slowing slams. And replace the Nodes that decrease attack speed and replace them with someting that removes these at speed penalties idk. And buff life and armor i guess unless you want to nerf all these es users who think their science will save them

Maybe carn missed that they increased the base mana regen from poe 1?, after watching alkaizer explain it, i just got some gear with base mana and now my warrior feels fine, ofc it can be hard to get that gear with the stats you wand AND mana in SSF.

Again, ANIMATION LOCK in an ARPG is mindbogglingly stupid. Especially in an ARPG trying to emulate a Soulslike. You need to be able to react to threats. Tying some obnoxious clunky animation to a damage skill is just clueless.

I ran a merc with 83% evasion WITH acro and like 50% armor and I still died so much. Accurate monsters or just one big hit still obliterates you

Think the forced clunk in Warrior is a great idea even though some skills feel a bit too slow to come out. Thought every weapon would have in some form forced clunk. Like quarterstaff have the "third hit" mechanic. Then you play it and that third hit doesnt really matter. Why arent the bow skills charge skills that scales the damage/aoe? Or sorcerer just waving their hand.

Maybe i am out of pocket here, but listening to them talk i find it kind of wierd that they think underperforming builds should do better on bosses to effectively oneshot them same as other builds rather than to re-balance bosses so that they cannot be oneshotted at all, if i understand correctly what they are saying. Oneshotting bosses, not having to really engage with them at all feels super bad and a complete opposite of what it feels like GGG wants to do with bosses. The bosses themselves are really good, and in the early game when you don't absolutely curve stomp them it feels really good to fight them. I hope they lean more in to this and re-balance boss fights in particular to not be oneshottable.

Guessing he just means cultist hammer + armour explosion, at which point if that gets nerfed we lose most breach clear or have to resort to skills that feel like shit. If they make totems scale with pdps of the weapon, then the SSF or event early league experience will turn to shit. I do think some of it needs to change with a major patch or league launch, but if you just take those things away without buffs... You delete the class, and people stop testing. Almost level 95 SSF warbringer here.

No monk isnt in a good place. Bell and the electric/ice attack are really good and that can be used by any class. Theres literally no reason to use any other ability. Thats kinda the same for most skills in the game. For casting theres like 2 good and rest are just time sinks.

melee basically just has the same range/area most of the time as ranged (spark excepted which hits the whole screen and more multiple times over) but armor sucks and there's basically negative attack speed in warrior area. Monk "melee" is as easy as it gets in poe2 and sword/dagger/flail/axe are just as likely to be fine as not; these problems are all just related to mace nodes, warrior area, armor, and on-death BS, and have nothing to do with "melee"

I still believe ES and Armour should be reworked. Armour not applying to ALL Attacks, regardless of damage type, makes literally no sense. It was fine in PoE1 because well, we got used to it I guess, but Armour should just apply to hits of all damage types (Though spells not being mitigated I agree with), of course at a reduced efficacy against elemental/chaos hits, but still apply it should. This makes armour stacking be a viable way of damage mitigation, you still need other ways to not die, but making a beeg beefy guy that just face tanks anything because YES, it's the warrior fantasy, but that fantasy dies the moment you see a monster that deals pure chaos/Elemental dmg. Plus, make armour just be better against Phys DMG. It is just abyssmal, specially in a game with "Armour break" as a concept. Guess what, armour break would be fine if, before it being broken, You essentially couldn't die to physical damage hits. I know, Mindblowing. ES, on the other hand, if they WANT it to be considered a "Defense" Needs to be able to mitigate SOMETHING, It's a Shield FFS, My pitch Spell damage, so ES mitigates Spell (magic damage essentially) Hits and AoE dmg, this effectively gives ES a "Natural Elemental damage Reduction" of sorts while still keeping it weak to, you know, getting melee'd by 6 guys perma-stunning you. This way you are strong against spell casting, but your defenses are no more than "big number big" against Attack Damage. They would have to add "Spell" and "Attack" tags to most mob abilities, but you know what? Worth it. Evasion? They're fine, Their defenses are MS and "DON'T GET HIT, MF" If anything, Give the Evasion some way to get ES or HP without having to sacrifice a metric shit ton of points. IF you bend my arm and tell me to also rework that to keep it "fair" then Add Mitigation to AoE to Evasion. You take "x% Less damage from AoE" based on your Evasion percentage. This just makes it have a little but more survivability without taking away the concept of them "Being squishy but hard to damage in the first place." They squirm away, jump over the damage, duck out of the way of a slam, yadda yadda. You know the drill.

if they just rename mana on melee classes to something relevant like idk stamina. it wont solve the issue. so realism wise it should just be like youre a high level warrior adept with melee weapon use it should get easier and easier to use the skills because you are the pro. yes we neeed mechanics to keep it in check but make it like idk giants blood also gives you a mana cost reduction when using the skills because you are HIM. blood of the gods running through your veins.

I'll just say that PoE 2 is already the better game, but Barbarian in D4 is some of the most fun and good feeling melee I've played in an APRG for that archtype - yes sometimes it was wildly busted but it was glorious while I played it.

Just play at your own pace and don’t compare yourself to the streamers. I have like 1500 hours in poe1 and started late on the poe2 early access and I’m barely halfway through cruel, but I’ve been enjoying it at my pace and using all my currency to make better weapons as I go. I’ve found like 10 exalted so far and I know you can just trade but I’ve been having fun creating my own weapons as I play. Not the most efficient way to play but for me it has been really fun.

PoE 2 is definitely the hardest arpg out right now. Build crafting is difficult and you have to spot dodge attacks. Don't feel bad for struggling in a difficult game
