Regardless of who likes it, dislikes it, feels included, or feels excluded. If you want to make a chocolate chip company that only makes chocolate chip cookies, you are excluding fans of snickerdoodle and THATS OK. You’re free to make what you want. Please explain to me why EVERYONE must be made to feel included, because that doesn’t always make financial sense, let alone moral sense….(it makes zero sense for a company to cater to 1% of its’ customers, taking a financial hit just to appease them, all for the sake of “inclusivity”.)

I actually wear everything in my closet except my headscarves, but that's because I gained 60 pounds and got a job that required a work uniform that I leaned way too heavily on, in the transition. So now, I have maybe ten dresses, two jumpsuits, two pairs of ripped linen pants that need mending before I can wear them out in public, two shirts from my work uniform with brooches over the logos, and an 18th century petticoat that I wear around the house like a skirt. I even wear my two formal dresses, just for variety. That's it. I'm currently sewing and, in some cases, designing myself better options. But it will be a while.

To me, all the brands mentioned in this video are Quiet Luxury, because I never heard of any of them 😅 I'm really into buying few pieces of clothing of high quality that can last me decades. But my question is, are the prices of these brands proportional to the quality? Or are they just "the price of the label", pushed up prices because they market mostly to rich people that are able (and want) to splurge? Because I get the impression that even buying fabric and hiring a seamstress to make custom clothes would be cheaper (and I think higher quality too).

I have a question for future podcast or for now. I would like to know how to research your consumer/client. For example in this video you mention the ultra rich client or perhaps say the haute culture client you need to aim at for quite luxury brand. I am not this client not do I mix in these circles but I do aspire to create and design fashion/clothes for this client. So how do I create a customer profile or attract this type of clientele? Where and how do I find information about them. I assume this information would be also important when writing a business plan etc.

Thank you sooo much Zoe for mentioning the Pantone issue! This was def worthy of a huge rant. Wth. As a darker skin person, I can tell you that this is why we Black ppl still have hard feelings today toward white supremacy in this world. Even tho it's 2023 and we've already spent the last several years ranting, educating, posting online and having open dialogues about things like racism and colorism, it seems like these white-owned establishments continue to make the same dumb and offensive mistakes, and it's apparent that it's clearly by choice! I've been saying for years that they need to get rid of the name "nude" for a color, cuz it's not MY nude. The standard always seems to be through the white lense. We have always and still continue to feel not seen by the majority and put into such a small box. If we are seen it's only in one kind of way, in the negative stereotypes that alot of lighter ppl subconsciously carry around with them. Makeup companies never thought twice about making products for darker ppl until Rihanna did it with Fenty and they saw how well she did. They can miss me with that. Thank you again Zoe for calling this out because I had not heard about this until now. What a croc! 😡

Hey Zoe. I love your luzury brand video. But I have a question. Why other artist like writers and painter is protected by copyright and fashion designers are not protected by copyright. I would like to hear your opinion.
@zoehongteaches Жыл бұрын
It's about how easy is it to prove. If you have a published work and someone copied it word for word, it's easy to prove. Painters aren't protected much at all, people can claim they were inspired by the original work, people can claim it's "different enough". Textile design only needs to be changed 10% to be declared safe and different enough. It's not only proof of concept but also who did it first and there are rarely new things in fashion.

When you dropped that Pantone picture, I wanted to tell “exCUSE ME????” If your skintone range doesn’t look like a smooth gradient value-wise from the darkest to lightest shade, y’all need to work harder! The only exception I’ll make is for brands that focus on the darker end of the spectrum, because they’re filling a huge gaping hole in the market left by all these other racist brands that apparently can’t be bothered.

How is Phoebe Philo’s Celine quiet luxury? The fact that her line was kind of minimalist and without logos doesn’t make it quiet luxury. Would you call the yellow fur Minnie Mouse heels quiet luxury? Or the colour-block pleated skirts? Or the paintbrush stroke print? Or the market bag checked coats? For the same token, anything that doesn’t have a logo could and would have to be classified as quiet luxury and that’s simply not the case.

the root word of "exclusive" is "exclude" which is the opposite "include," or "inclusion," obviously. it's no surprise the people who enjoy the artificial scarcity and short term value "created" from "exclusivity" are people who make their money artificially manipulating markets/strategically aligning with public opinion to "create" value. (sidenote: pantone🙄) i love finding pockets, like some spaces here on youtube, where people are looking for insight on how to build more stable/satisfying connection, community, and identity. also to answer your question, i only wear a small fraction of my wardrobe because i obviously do not yet understand what my clothes need to communicate about me, yet.😅

This is the difference between virtue signaling and actually putting your money where your mouth is. I'm sick of all the virtue signaling. I'd rather companies just be honest - if you want to cater to a certain group of people, then go for it! It's a free country - cater to whomever you want. I have no problem with any company that decides on a demographic and focuses their products, marketing, etc on that demographic. What annoys the hell out of me (and pretty much everyone really), is companies who virtue signal. It's insulting - like they think everyone is too stupid to know exactly what they're doing.
