Hey hey party people, this is my last Sunday in Japan! I'll still be here for an hour after the video's over so shoot me your questions. I'm extra excited to share this video, since so many of you told me how much you love my color theory videos in the comments section of the pencil sharpener giveaway video!

Nicker is the brand used by the art department of Studio Ghibli in making their animation BG artwork. They use poster colors in particular.

Whoever invented gouache must have been a genius. That or he was simply sick of watercolour bleeding everywhere and acrylics being so stubbornly opaque so he found the perfect medium in between. Anyway, I love love love gouache!

They say necessity is the mother of invention but I think sheer bloody annoyance is the father.

Heyy zoe I love your videos so much, the level of detail is a refreshing contrast to many other channels. I want to get into fashion design, but I know nothing about fashion sketching or sewing or pattern making :(( Im horrible at art too!! do you think me getting into fashion is worth it? Where should I start, I'm so scared I have to apply to design school in 2 years. Please help :(( Thank you so much, Advait

Hi Zoe, I have a question: Don't all blacks make yellow greenish at first? And if it doesn't it isn't real black but a mixture of colors that appear to be black but isn't.

Thank you for making this video! I love the way that you breakdown concepts. It makes learning easy. I have a question regarding matching shades and tones. When you are using a matching pattern with multiple colors, can you mix shades, tones, and tints? For example, if I was going to use a split complimentary concept with blue, green, and orange, could I use a tint of blue, a shade of green, and a regular orange? Or should I use all of the same types of colors, i.e. all tints, all shades, etc?
@zoehongteaches4 жыл бұрын
>>a tint of blue, a shade of green, and a regular orange Yes, absolutely, these are far more interesting colorways than all tints, etc.

I mainly use watercolor but found working dark to light works better with how my brain works.....ass backwards maybe. Lol Hope you're have the best time in Japan!!! Safe travels!!!!

Have you tried M. Graham gouache? I'm planning on investing in better gouache and I'm stuck deciding between Winsor & Newton or M. Graham.
@zoehongteaches7 жыл бұрын
No, I've not tried the MG gouache, but I've used the W&N for years and years and highly recommend them.
@IHaveNoLaifu7 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) I've heard a lot of good things about W&N, I think I'll just go for those.
