I don't understand nothing about music (technics, etc), I just love music and art. I've never heard a music from MM before (!!). But this version, for me, is one of the best music I ever heard. All the video is perfect, his performance, the other instruments, the host enjoying, the respect, the fans, this video touched me so deeply... how I love to see moments like that I saw all the time in this video... the singer enjoying, the fans, an unexpected version of a wonderful music, this is art... thank you for this impartial analysis (after saw for the first time, I searched more about him, and well, I just think this video is very, very incredible - just how you enphasized: "no judgement", I just love the art). Thank you again.

Marilyn Manson is not the greatest singer but his voice works really well on his albums imo. There's some good songs in his catalog too, again imo. If I were forced to listen to say, Dimash (clearly a master at his craft, no doubt) or Marilyn Manson for the rest of my life, I would choose Marilyn Manson without question because at the end of the day it's about the songs to me. I'm not saying that as some big MM fan either. I really not. it's just music I would actually listen to for the songs. I never listen to Dimash for just the sake of the song. Not really my thing, but that's me.

he was very good singer, he had a voice that could span four octaves and produce five different tones simultaneously. He's had problems with his voice before, and now he's just old. I recommend listening to concerts from 1995-1998 where he was singing sweet dreams when he was top in terms of screams and voice.
@klepcik Жыл бұрын
his career ended for me in 2012 because It was a time when he had already spoiled his voice. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fILFfX6qrcupnqM look at this performance from 2009, it sounds amazing.

Vocally, the original cover of sweet dreams is probably is best work on my opinion. His voice on those trilogy of albums was just so sonically compelling and potent. Infact the band as a whole just kept getting better and better. Unfortunately this performance is during his older years and I believe he didn't take care of his voice and I think he was drinking heavily during this time.

Ah ok, thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that he drank. You never know, I liked the performance too (not sure about the spitting at the end 😵💫)

Given that Manson long ago destroyed his vocal cords with uncontrolled screaming, he still manages to sound pretty dang good all these years later. And before the Manson fans come in like I'm hating on him, I'm not. Tom Waits has vocal cords that are absolutely shredded and yet he is one of the most brilliant singers in the world as far as I'm concerned. At nearly fifty myself, I have been a Manson fan from day one. No hate on him, but his voice is mangled compared to the way he started and not in a way that comes from healthy singing - even for metal.

nice reaction. i love Annie's version...in is quicker, upbeat and portrays the positive side of the song....I also love Marilyn's version..it is slower, darker and portrays the more negative side of the song....BTW, the video version is much better.

This is not eurythmics song anymore. Manson covered it in 1995 and made it way better. It’s known as a Manson song now.

Hmm still a cover of a Eurythmics song.... you can't "take" ownership over a song like that.... unless he bought the rights?

this performance honestly kinda makes me disappointed, mostly because MM doesn't sound like he used to be, not anymore, and the people wre applauding only because he is MM, if it was a random guy everyone would've booed and made fun of him. Not to mention that literally nobody, not even the show host gave credit to Bates, wich isn't just a random guy at all

First, I hate to burst your bubble but, as a nearly fifty-year-old fan of Manson from day one, he destroyed his vocal cords over the years by being drunk/high and just screaming uncontrollably on stage. I think he can still make music and sing, but he has a very unhealthy way of creating his sound and consequently, there is much he cannot longer achieve vocally. He clearly has caused himself permanent vocal damage. Second, what she said was 100% valid and not being negative at all. She is encouraging people to not destroy their vocal cords like he has. Pointing out the real dangers of his "technique" is valid. Third, saying that someone can only criticize someone else if they out-achieve them is not good logic. So, no one can ever say anything bad about Taylor Swift's music? You've never said, "This sucks," when some song comes on the radio. By that logic, you have never done that because they clearly achieved more than you in the musical field. Anyone can critique based on their knowledge of a subject. It's just an opinion and I don't think there is any need to get offended *FOR* Marilyn Manson! He's doing alright! 🤣
