Thanks Andrew, great video as usual, short, informative, and to the point! Others will make this into 10 episodes series!

Hi Andrew, as always thanks for your video. I've been waiting for the review of this model for a while, if one day I buy it I think I'll transform it into a VTOL because this way I'll have a more versatile model that doesn't need a landing strip. Good flight!

It does look ripe for VTOL conversion

I really wish reptile-tech would revise the reptile dragon v2. Its such a good plane just needs some HD updating.

gorgeous. how do you think it would fly with a slightly flatter tail using thrust to steer?
@AndrewNewton9 ай бұрын
I wouldn't flatten the tail, that might reduce the yaw stability, but differential thrust would work fine

Great setup insights. Nice close views in the camera work to show details. Any thoughts on a 2 vs 3 blade propeller setup? I'd be bit worried with catching 3 blade on landing. 2-blade is also more typical of an efficient cruiser.
@AndrewNewton9 ай бұрын
Yes I have some 2 bladed props coming but the three bladed are smooth. I'll compare the efficiency

Yep, still going well

do you know which servos will be compatible with the tail? spleen counts perhaps? 24 25 etc?

What do you think of Altus vs swordfish?
@AndrewNewton9 ай бұрын
I prefer the Swordfish for speed, efficiency and wind penetration. But the Altus is more suited for VTOL conversion.

Hi Andre Your video is very good, I have this same model, I would like some help, I can't mix my radio master 16s with express elrs as vtail, for the zohd altus, can you help me with this
@AndrewNewton3 ай бұрын
I have done V-Tail mixing videos. Same as elevon mixing really
@bruno_souza_FPV2 ай бұрын
@@AndrewNewton I'm here again, I managed to solve the mixing problem, but I would like to share it here. When I bought the controller, I updated its firmware to the corresponding model, which was the Speedby Mini Wing, and inside INAV, I set all the mixing options, and it was not compatible with the radio mixing... in short, the firmware that worked was the Speedby 405 Wing, as soon as it was updated, all the channels and servos responded. In the Mini Wing version, the controller channels did not work as they did in the mapping sampling, that was the problem I had. Now I have enjoyed the model airplane, I like it more, stable, quiet, slow flight too. Thanks for always sharing your hobby here, @AndrewNewton
@AndrewNewton2 ай бұрын
@@bruno_souza_FPV Ah yes, that is tricky. The F405 Wing Mini is not the same as the F405 Mini so you must read the manual to find the correct INAV target.
@robertburroughs63467 ай бұрын
Do you think it would still be stable if you were to shorten the tail? I would like to fly it with a much lighter set up and by shortening the tail I could run a lighter battery and set up.
@AndrewNewton7 ай бұрын
Yes, it's very stable as it is so you could shorten the tail boom by a few cm maybe.

Hi,first of all thanks for your help with my fimi manta👊🏻,I’ve just got a Altus with the atomrc fc,but when I flash inav 7 to it the saving defaults screen at the start never goes away any ideas?
@AndrewNewton5 ай бұрын
That's an annoying bug. Will be fixed in INAV8. Close that screen and reapply your diff if you saved one. Otherwise set up mixer pids etc from scratch.
@wastedworldexploration28425 ай бұрын
@@AndrewNewton oh ok thanks,I’m starting from scratch so it’s ok to just cancel that screen and continue as normal,or is that bug present in let’s say inav 6?

When ZOHD makes good stuf why the Fuck provide only 3Pin Conectors in the Wingpocket? Every Modern RX or VTX need 4 Wire for telemetry or Smart audio

I thought the same thing but maybe for VTOL tilt servos, not 4 wire components

The "9+2 Connector" appears to be a common connector. Have seen it used by U-Wing/Fin-Wing on their models. Also can purchase the "9+2 Connectors" online. (9+2 being 2 larger power pins, 9 smaller signal pins) It would indeed be nice to see a "2+12 Connector" A work-around for this would be to use a signal multiplexer like CANbus, etc. to a remote signal distribution embedded out the wing. Another work-around is for multiple 3-pin connectors to share power/ground, so freeing up a couple pins to allow more signal pass-throughs.
