I don't care if this is different from her old stuff, evolving is part of human nature, everything and everyone changes with the time... Zola Jesus is great, I love her music, it gives me strenght and I think she is also an awesome person

Regardless of opinions of the Taiga era then and now, I remember listening to Taiga-Dangerous Days for the first time on a bus ride home in 2014, and my eyes filled with water because for the first time in all the years I have listened to Zola, her voice was mixed so far up front. The strength and confidence of the vocal delivery during this timeframe will always move me, and make Taiga essential for Zola's artistic development.

I can't believe I just found out she had new stuff out! Just heard her play this on the international public radio along with an interview. Sounds melancholic and happy at the same time which is a fantastic dichotomy. Totally gonna buy this track, Zola Jesus!

I love this song and video! They shot this only 3 hrs from Seattle. I think it's funny that people continue to post about the 'nature' when the nature is all around you if you are recording/writing in Washington State. I also love the use of the classic Rutt-Etra video synthesizer!

I dig the sound and concept of this song, and what an awesome bonus that the video was shot at my favorite place on earth! I've lived there a few times over the years, and you musically and visually captured the feeling of it, the transition in it, and the timelessness of the space. Just beautiful!

If you live/work/record/write in Washington State it is difficult not to notice the beauty that surrounds you. Most of this video could have been shot on Mt. Rainer just two hours southeast of Seattle-I just went camping there last week. The northwest is truly amazing... the moss, the gigantic trees... really gorgeous and inspirational. As an artist/musician I can't help but want to film it and juxtapose it with my harsh electronics. I don't think Zola Jesus is ripping on anyone, I just think she is showing us the environment she has been in to record this new album. I think it's a beautiful video and song!

I just heard this on FM4 in Vienna, Austria, and looked up the song and artist on KZbin. As a musician/composer/songwriter, I really like every musical detail about the song, and the lyrics too - which seem very appropriate in these times, and the video is very interesting to watch. I wish you must success and keep up the very good artistry.

You're gonna win these odd days You never stood to fight for your name And I will be there unspoken, curious You never were the one for us You never were the one for us And then I'd just lay here open On the floor, on the ground On the stairs, on the way On the floor, on the ground On the stairs, on the way It's a dark dark day And it's dangerous to go And listen what they say In the way, the way you hold yourself straight You never were innocent And then I just lay here frozen, curious You never were the one for us You never were the one for us And then I'd just lay here open On the floor, on the ground On the stairs, on my way On the floor, on the ground On the stairs, on the way It's a dark dark day And it's dangerous to go And listen what they say It's dangerous It's dangerous to know when it comes Are you gonna throw your body into the drain No word's right for your name Lose all that gold, it's all the same It's dangerous, it's dangerous It's a dark dark day And it's dangerous to go And listen what they say It's dangerous, it's dangerous

I don't understand what everyone is complaining about, "it looks like 'insert artist who is irrelevant to a zola Jesus video 's' name' she's totally copying". First of all the album is freaking called taiga which is basically a forest biome, you should have expected nature in this. Second, she has already stated that she was inspired by nature for a lot of this album so the imagery makes perfect sense. Lastly, why does it even matter that she's using nature as a backdrop and how is that enough of a similarity to call out "copying" I mean seriously you people need to get a grip.....your welcome :D
@ExperimentalAddict10 жыл бұрын
This is truly meaningful, Nika! As expected it's an masterpiece! It's great see you progressing over each new album! And guys her upcoming album is called ''TAIGA'', where the hell should be record? The video is deeply connected to the lyrics and to the new album! To the people bitching about being a copy of Iamamiwhoami, y'all need to chill and cut the bullshit because artists like Sigur Rós and Bjork use nature landscapes on their videos before Jonna even be known! Iamamiwhoami wasn't 'pioneer' of none of that!
