I was on and off Lexapro for 15 years, but going gluten free and repairing my gut really stabilized my mood and now I don't need Lexapro anymore.

Dr. Jack, I'e been binging on your videos for a few days. I found your vids by way of the Entourage effect. Your videos cut down my study time in half. ty. Im here as perhaps one of your perfect patients. Severe Cuada Equina, Severe Spinal Stenosis, Severe Spinal Compression, and several other pain related issues at the L5/S1. I was on Paxil for about a year in 2013; It worked, and it was absolutely the worst experience I've ever had, coming off of them, until I had to detox off of Soma and Oxys (at the same time) in 2017. CBD and the other goodies from the hemp plant, have allowed my brain to switch over, and I can detox, off the pills. I'm into my 4th detox. right now, and its going fine. I absolutely can not detox without the help of that jolly green giant plant. The purpose for my comment it this. Is there any current research showing people who had a dependency on pills like Paxil, (at some point) and they developed a dependency on Pain meds? Is there any research showing how the entourage effect is helping people taper down other dependencies? For me the answer is yes... but, not one doctor that I've ran this by ever believes me. Thanks again, have a great day.

Hello. I’m glad my videos are being helpful and thanks for sharing your story. If u want research papers I’d suggest going to google scholar and just doing a search there as I cannot quote u any papers. However, anecdotally if there is ever a dependency on a chemical substance then it can lead to future dependencies on other pills. In regards to cannabis helping to get off of other drugs, addiction, etc, there are many studies showing how it helps.

I’ve taken antidepressants twice, and both times they saved my life. I can’t function with the level of depression I I get. I thought I was sick with cancer or something because of the severe level of fatigue I was experiencing. I felt like I had taken heavy sleeping pills every day. I began taking an SSRI and I felt like I could function but I also got all my energy back. I was shocked at that because I didn’t realize depression could have such a physical effect.

It destroyed my emotions and especially sexual function. You’re lucky if you don’t experience sexual issues. I wish I would have known the side effects before I started. Exercise and eating right is far better than SSRI’s. Good luck to all

What you described is actually textbook in the Psychiatry realm about how SSRIs should be prescribed and how depression should be managed, but often not for many reasons (some you've touched). Some additional include lack of training to appreciate this nuance (often see this w/ non-MD/DO psych providers tbh), poor business model which our overwhelming educational debt incentives us to do the opposite, etc

Depression an other mental illness are not only frpm imbalances environement social interaction play a role in depression we just figure that ssri change the adn of the cell so now because you will have more seretonin around the brain, depression symptom is reduced. Maybe the depression has nothing to with hornan imbalances.

I’ve recently come the conclusion that Paxil (and other ssris) do not ‘make you happy’ but rather regulates what I consider the most important daily activity. Sleep. Once you fix sleep it becomes easier to manage the temporary symptoms you may be experiencing from acute stress. I continued to take Paxil for the increase in sleep quality. Full stop.

I have taken Prozac at various points in my life over the last 30 years. Emotional numbness (some aspect of anhedonia) is a very real effect of this drug, and if you're not getting gratification from activity you lack motivation to pursue it, do you not? Also, the withdrawal symptoms can be extremely unpleasant if you don't taper down very slowly.

You are welcomed. Please know that doctors are not financially incentivized to prescribe such drugs. There are rules and regulations in place now where pharmaceutical companies cannot incentivize doctors the way they used to. That’s been true for many years now.
