Idea: a secret "stomach" area inside the Kraken, with some easter eggs (2 hermits by a campfire (1.14 should be installed by then), or a Nether portal maybe, a boat, a treasure, whatever you think of.) Accessible only by swimming into the beak.

You say you don't want the guy being thrown to be one of the hermits, but to be honest, I feel like Grian would suit that role quite well. With or without elytra. Perhaps the flollopping tentacle about to grab something could be about to grab a blissfully unaware hermit. Saaaayyyyy..... Mumbo :P

For a bit more comedy twist, when/if you make the Kraken beak , leave a space for someone to enter it, then inside, a table with pirates sitting playing cards, welcoming new arrivals. maybe even a bartender serving drinks, then in the very back a 1x1 hole as an exit (poop gag)........since your dolphine escaped...just an idea as a replacement.

Iirc vines can grow on the bottom side of blocks. Only horizontally growing ones I've seen have been in my face while climbing jungle trees, when I broke the block above them they disappeared. Edit: Maybe the last tentacle you have flopping onto the deck would work punching through the bilge and up to the deck instead?

Still think the eyes of the Kraken should bulge out the sides a bit so they can be seen from a front on view. When you look directly on at it you can only see the eyebrows.

turns out villager trading will actually be much better in 1.14 and it wont break any of the original trades

It doesn't 'break' the trades but it limits the villagers amount of trades per minecraft day. Also to get the trades the villager setup needs to include a bed, workstation and bell so itrade will need to be expanded and remade.

Would be interesting to have one of the people running on the tentacle to of fallen off and be tangled in the “kelp” vines. It could be Grian, Iskal or Mumbo although I feel like Mumbo would be better suited somewhere near the cannons on the lower decks messing with it using red stone.

Cleo. I leave this message because I know occasionally the Hermit's speak with Mojang. I think it would be a nice homage for "Grumpy Cat" (Tartar Sauce) if they add another cat that looks like him. TBH I have not tried to make him in pixels so I don't know how easy it would be, but it is an idea. I am posting this on many of the hermit's sites as I do not remember who communicates with them.

Actually 1.14 doesnt seem to effect the trading too much. The villagers keeps their trades from before 1.13 and all that.

The hermits isn't worried about that if ya didn't know, xisuma didn't update the server yet due to major bugs like chunk loading and a entities not transferring over to 1.14 unless in spawn chunks

the entities transferred just fine in the video Xisumvoid made a couple of days ago when he wanted to check how it would effect hermitcraft. And as a sidenote I can say it transfer entities in my own tests. I just mentioned it because Cleo seems to be under the impression that Impulse's trading hall wont work in 1.14.

About the only nerfing i have seen is that they will reset trades a bit slower than before.

They need their profession's block to reset the trades, the trades are more limited in how many you can do, and they only unlock twice a day; if you go after someone else has already traded, you can't trade. They also each need a bed. Impulse's villagers are too close to each other. The farmers at the ends would need to be moved, because a lectern that close would change them. The upstairs is going to need a total rework. iTrade just needs to be expanded a bit...each villager would need a tiny room.

The armor stand thing isn't a mod you fool! Its a datapack which uses vanilla mechanics and you can't makes the armorstand legs invisable without using a non vanilla mechanic.
