Dr Mounce did a fantastic job, but also it has helped my spiritual growth, staying out of being depressed (of not having a permanent job) and gives me a focus to start a day if I don't have work. God bless you Bill!

Very interesting. I learnt some Greek with the Open University, a UK institution setup in the late 60's early 70's . Pressurised to pass exams and to complete within their set time. It took the enjoyment out of it. Im onboard.

3:00 thing one of the things that took place around this time though was that attic greek ended up breaking into kind of two strains it became standardized for the purpose of poetry and literature and this became the ingrained classical greek that we have today and then there was the regular greek the popular little greek that everybody on the street would just speak the classical greek the the attic greek that literary greek that was standardized which means it wasn't supposed to change it was a standardized set of sounds and forms that were supposed to be used consistently Koine Greek: What is it? Where did it come from? And who should learn it? **Join mewe/groups/Learn Biblical Greek Group ** for quizzes, discussion, history of how we got the NT

Though remembered primarily for his widely used commentary on the NT, Henry Alford (1810-71), dean of Canterbury and author of several well-known hymns (among them "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come" and "10k Times 10k"), deserves mention here as an ardent advocate of the critical principles formulated by those who, like Lachmann, had worked for the "demotion of the unworthy and pedantic reverence for the received text, which stood in the way of all chance of discovering the genuine word of God." *Bruce Metzger TNT* pg 174 *MeWe Learn Biblical Greek, Discussions, quizzes, TC history* 1970 Alumni Azusa Pacific University

just a point of interest In *1734, Bengel* published at Tubingen an edition of the GNT in a handsome quarto volume. He did not venture to correct the traditional *Textus Receptus* in accordance with personal judgment but followed (except in 19 passages in the Book of Revelation) the self-imposed rule of not printing any reading that had not been previously published in an earlier printed edition *Bruce Metzger* TNT pg 159 MeWe Learn Biblical Greek, discussions, quizzes, TC history
