For those of you who doesn't know what incident is referred to from the otters, on 2008, a Javan langur was drowned by the otters and it was recorded as well. It was said that the langur was disturbing the otters previously causing several tensions between them. Proboscis monkeys had been mixed without any incident prior to this, so its moreso an unfortunate case for an individual.

I live in Idaho, but got to go the Bronx zoo last month! I went to jungle world. I couldn’t the bats and small clawed otters, and the leopard exhibit was closed. (It was also raining up a storm outside) I also made my own video of the animals I saw, from jungle world, zoo center, (behind the scenes encounters), Madagascar, world of reptiles, and the Congo gorilla reserve. The only animals I took video of outside of those areas was the nyala and sea lions. Because like I said it raining so much water was flowing down pathways like a river. The animals that I saw and put in my video from jungle world was the tree kangaroo, Vietnamese pond turtle, ebony langur, silver langurs, tree shrew, marabou stork, Malayan tapir, Victoria crowned pigeon, frilled dragon, white cheeked gibbon. and Indian Gharial. I also saw the mouse deer but it disappeared before I could get my camera out. I also skipped the insects since they were near the spider, I’ve got arachnophobia. The magnificent tree frogs and sail fin lizard and carpet python were also hiding. (However I got to video the carpet python later in the behind the scenes encounter) It seems we all miss something with each visit.

11:47 - The leopard enclosure at JungleWorld originally housed black leopards, although it would make a great display for clouded leopards. Meanwhile, it would be nice to eventually see a larger, outdoor exhibit for the zoo's Amur leopards (which can tolerate NY winters). Perhaps the zoo can someday build something similar to the existing Tiger Mountain and Himalayan Highlands.

I have some very early memories of seeing the Proboscis Monkey in the late 90s or early 2000s right before they left. Unfortunately I was way too young to really appreciate how special that was, but I absolutely remember them being there. Glad to see the Leopard is still in the collection as the website doesn’t list it. It is the one exhibit in the zoo that’s a bit of a blind spot, though. I haven’t been in years, but many comment it’s too small for a Leopard that size. I believe they have a lot of space up by Tiger Mountain, perhaps they’re better suited up there in the future. It’s nice to see the Gibbons finally get some love in a prominent part of the zoo! Years ago they were alllll the way up in what I believe is the nothern part of the zoo off Fordham Road on monkey island. Many fond memories of dragging my family up there after a long day so we could be the only 4 people who saw the Gibbons that day.

On a side note, I'm trying to find the name of a zoo that I'd visited several times that was in either northern Ohio (or, possibly, Indiana) that was adjacent to a large, public beach. I believe it was up against the great lakes. My family used to visit it several times while my father had to do things near Chicago and we'd head north to stop by family who lived up in northern ohio and then west... I remember that it was a rather tiny zoo that was phasing out most of their larger animals due to space and upgrading facilities for smaller ones. It also had a large tower you could go up that was in the back corner of the zoo. I've got a trip near the area and was wanting to find it again, but couldn't remember the name of it and had just referred to it as a zoo. It was easy to go through the majority of things in a couple hours time which made it a good break point for a long car trip (The other place I remember stopping on several trips that was closet to the other end was the Dunes in Indiana, but that's not a zoo... Anyone know which zoo I'm talking about, I know the last time I went was a while after Ohio messed up with the exotic animal ban that wrecked several of them, and they were looking to get rid of their remaining big cats at the time...

Hello, Jungle World of the Bronx Zoo! Say, Zak, try to visit the Woodland Park Zoo & maybe the Honolulu Zoo sooner or later! Plus, 5 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend..... 1) What other animals do you consider the Alaska Zoo to add? 2) How many Mexican Gray Wolves did the SF Zoo bred so far when Prince & Garcia passed away from the past few years? 3) Besides the dromedary camels, what other camel species did the San Diego Zoo once bred back in 2003-2009? 4) How many new elephants would you predict to arrive at the Oakland Zoo to join Osh? 5) What is the name of the SF Zoo's recent Siberian Tiger that escaped from the enclosure & killed 3 visitors back in 2006? Heaving Pentaceratops!

Great exhibit, only flaw that Jungle World has.Amur Leopard do look out of place in that exhibit. The Leopard needs bigger exhibit, it would look nice if the Bronx Zoo build an new exhibit near Tiger Mountain exhibit. The exhibit in Jungle World would perfect for, Clouded Leopards or the Binurong

I feel awful whenever the proboscis monkey gets mentioned. Because I've actually been to the Singapore Zoo. I missed the exhibit without even realizing it. And the worst part is, the proboscis monkeys wasn't the only exhibit I missed. I missed the Ethiopia exhibit, primate exhibit, Australia exhibit, the fossa, mole rat, painted dog and leopard enclosures in the Africa exhibit, the babirusa and tapir exhibits and the otters were a no show. I'm not too bummed out about the tapirs since we have them in Yangon. I have hopes of one day revisiting the zoo one day, along with the three other zoos there and the upcoming Rainforest Park.

Apparently their male has passed but, and I'm just guessing, it could be a situation where there's no point on playing match maker for an older animal. Regardless, I wouldn't call living with 20 other species being alone - especially when they frequently interact with the tapirs.
