*Question of the Episode:* What never before featured animal attraction would you'd like to see in 2025? So far I'm aiming for Dallas World Aquarium, Roger Williams, Woodland Park, and Denver as priorities. This video tour will be redone within the next couple of years (so heads up on the quality), but for now, you can compare the Asian Forest Sanctuary with its 'almost for certain' inspiration - the Louisville Zoo's Islands. A complex that was the first in the nation to rotate so many large animals at once: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZLVl4KMpNBofqs Watch this if you would like to get a full breakdown of the Point Defiance Zoo, rather than just one exhibit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJmsiWx7ntGVqtE Species List: 1. Lowland Anoa, Sumatran Tiger, Siamang, White-handed Gibbon, Malayan Tapir, Wrinkled Hornbill, Asian Small-clawed Otter 2. Clouded Leopard (Cats of the Canopy) Here is my ideal list of the rotation I was hoping to see: 1. Exhibit #1: Siamang 2. Exhibit #2: Malayan Tapir 3. Dayroom: Wrinkled Hornbill 4. Exhibit #3: Asian Small-clawed Otter 5. Exhibit #4: Lowland Anoa / White-handed Gibbon 6. Exhibit #5: Sumatran Tiger Remembering Suki: www.pdza.org/remembering-suki/ Overview on the Zoo's Conservation Fund: www.pdza.org/care/holly-reed/ Link with all of the Sanctuary's signage: www.lindafeltner.com/projects/asian-forest-sanctuary-pdza/

The Dallas world aquarium is amazing. Funny, cause I live close to Tacoma and my Dad lives in Dallas, so I've been to it multiple times. Woodland Park is also incredible, but it's huge so I'm sure that would be a lot more work.

Of the ones you listed, I’m torn between Denver and Woodland Park. I’ve been to the Denver Zoo many times and would love to hear your opinions on it. But I’d also be up for an evaluation of Woodland Park, since it’s on my list zoos I’d love to visit in the future.

I'm a lifelong resident and have been to this zoo many times over the decades, so have had the pleasure of watching its change and growth. They've done some wonderful things. Best bragging point for the zoo, though, has to be the red wolves - which I figure will be discussed in another episode. The story of this zoo's connection to the wolf is a must!

Philly is getting a new and improved bear exhibit and new flamingo habitat and when I was their earlier this month they were enhancing some habitats so Philly could be nice for a visit. Also adventure aquarium would be cool being one of the only aquariums to have hippos.

Of your priority ones listed in your pinned comment, definitely Roger Williams, Woodland Park, and Denver are preferred. Otherwise, my personal preferences: Philadelphia Zoo is a major one to check out. Though a good part of me thinks it’s best to wait until after their Bear Country exhibit is renovated in 2026. As an NJ resident, I encourage an NJ trip to visit Adventure Aquarium, Turtle Back Zoo, and Cape May Zoo. Any or all. I can gladly give insight on their history (most/especially Turtle Back) Whenever you go back to NYC to do Bronx again (which you should definitely do after Summer 2025 when World of Darkness returns), definitely try to hit up any or all of the other WCS facilities (Centra Park, Prospect Park, Queens, New York Aquarium) along the way. They’re all small but deserve representation! Keep doing the good work Zach!

Visit the San Francisco Zoo, Phoenix Zoo, & the Sacramento Zoo soon in 2025! And here are 6 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend, Zak..... 1) How many zoos around the world are famous for housing sacred ibises in their aviaries? 2) Do you wish for the Oakland Zoo to house star-nosed moles at the California Trail in the future? 3) What year did the San Francisco Zoo welcomed Gauhati the Indian Rhinoceros to his new home at the former elephant enclosure? 4) Which zoos in America are known to house mayflies in their Insect Zoo attractions? 5) What year did the Sacramento Zoo welcomed a rare okapi to the African Habitat area? 6) How many rescued brown bears has the Woodland Park Zoo housed so far?

I think the best Asia area in a zoo I have ever been to is at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo (which is convenient for me as it is only 40 minutes away from me). The Asia section has a couple of nice paddock like exhibits as well as a large Asian Elephant habitat which is 7 acres The Zoo is currently only home to 1 Siberian Tiger at the moment but they want to bring in a female to start breeding again. The Rhinos of Nepel exhibit is excellent that features 2 Indian Rhinos (one of the paddocks is currently home to a White Rhino until he is moved to another zoo). One of the highlights of the Asia section is "Passage through Asia" a drive through which features several species of Deer including Pere David's, Fallow, Barasingha, Japanese Sika, Hog and Chinese Water as well as Bactrian Camel, Przewalski's Horse and 2 elderly female Blackbuck. They have also recently acquired 4 Javan Banteng. In the paddock next door to the Indian Rhino house is a mixed paddock for Visayan Warty Pigs and 1 Philippine Spotted Deer (another recent arrival) And opposite that paddock is a large field for their Yak herd. But I think the best exhibit in the Asia section has to be the "Monkey Forest" which opened in April 2024 which features 2 very large paddocks, one for Sulawesi Babirusa and Francois Langur, and the other for Lowland Anoa and Sulwesi Macaque. The Zoo also houses 4 other Asian Mammals that can be found elsewhere in the zoo. The UK's only Indian Gaur can be seen in a large paddock near the Giraffes and in the paddock next door are Nilgai. Red Pandas and Asian Small Clawed Otters can also be found in 2 island exhibits around here. Hope everyone likes the list of Asian mammal species at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.

They have confirmed that they are ending their elephant program. Point Defiance was a pioneer in “No Contact” elephant care and training. For years, they were used by the AZAA to house problematic elephants. Suki, for instance, loved human interaction but was extremely aggressive to other elephants. This lead to her having to be isolated. I agree that Indian Rhinos would be a great use of the space.

I would like you to visit a zoo in South America. I am from Chile and in our country there is the Bioparque Buin Zoo, it is considered one of the best on the continent and it has a large number of species that are organized according to their distribution and they also have an area for nocturnal animals, a herpetarium, an aquarium, an arthropodarium, there are like 3 aviaries, one from Australia, one from South America and another from Chile, there is also an area where you can pet farm animals and there is also a marine show with sea lions and penguins (there is no animal abuse). It is one of the best there is on the continent and in our country, and the animals are very well cared for, they have a large space to roam and their enrichment every day. Buin Zoo is also involved in conservation projects for several endangered species, as well as plants and fungi since it is a biopark. I hope you can visit it one day, you will like it.
