1. Does it matter if you're hosting or not? 2. Can you do a video on switching your stuff to a new computer? What to keep, what not to keep, how to transfer software you don't have disk for (or CD or whatever...), duplicates, etc. I love your videos. I've been watching you on and off but decided to subscribe at the beginning of the lockdown to learn more as we've been using Zoom as a family. Great video (as always). I just finished a course on how to do Virtual InHome Events - and by far the most confusion/attention/questions were about how to use a green screen. I was shocked by the fascination with them, but in truth I usually use one myself. I have a very easy one to set up and that makes a big difference. It works like the old projector screens but comes up from the floor.

Your video was great as always, I know you said you are way past the backgrounds but if you want to have a green screen type virtual background and your computer isn't strong enough (Like mine). You can still have them if you use OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) it's free open-source software. If you add the OBS virtual cam plug-in to OBS it sends out the OBS feed into Zoom as a camera input. Works well not hard to do at all, and adds a bunch of features that OBS offers that Zoom doesn't. There are a lot of KZbin videos explaining how to do it just search, "using OBS with Zoom".

Thank you for this video. It answers the questions I have had about the virtual background. I need to use one because I am participating in my bedroom, which has way too many collectibles in the background. I have chosen a couple simple color backgrounds that are similar to the backdrops used by professional photographers. I still get a visual ringing around my head, but it is negligible.

Steve - a very useful video. I use Zoom with multiple groups, and want password protection, but have different passwords per group. It seems that it always uses the last password set up, not the one used when setting up a meeting that time. So it forgets a specific meeting password if the account is used later with a different password. This caused major problems with a meeting this week which was set up well ahead of time. Cant find anything in settings so assume this is just a feature.

Discovered I can use grayscale on my iPhone to participate in Zoom in b&w (wanted to use for special purpose)…Went to Settings>Accessibility Display & Text Size>Turned Color Filters on>Selected Grayscale…Turns camera into b&w

Hallo Steve, thank you for the clear video! I appreciate it a lot. I have a paid Zoom Pro, and organize meetings with my colleagues for our professional education. If I set up the waiting room, would it be possible for us to see an animated logo (created in Zoom) before we all join the meeting? A sort of introduction to our meeting? or maybe could we see it WHEN I open the meeting before we all see each other, as an intro to our coach? Thank you!

Thanks for all the tips, Steve! I'm an English professor who relies on paperback books for teaching. During class discussions (which now are all happening online), we often do close readings of texts (we read a passage and analyze the significance of word choices, etc.) In face-to-face classes, I sometimes use an overhead projector to write on the text and draw the students' attention to certain words, punctuation marks, etc. How can I translate that into an online setting (on a budget)? Could you do a video with tips and different options for projecting a text/object while on videoconferencing? Other then having an extra camera with a fancy "tripod" (which is too expensive and my university won't pay for), are there any other alternatives? Thanks in advance! Hi Steve, I‘ve restricted screen sharing for participants in the account options. On my Macbook I can change that setting during the meeting under the security button. On the iPad there is no security button. Any chance to allow a participant to share her screen while the host is on an iPad? Thanks! Btw, I really like your videos, always learn something new...

Can you please point me to instruction re how to set up a webinar / broadcast on zoom so only the host & delegates appear on screen - don't want to clutter the screen with any initials or anything about the audience, if that makes sense! I think given the audience this is intended for, it's important that their screen only shows panel and host so is less cluttered, and also important that they don't have to manually change their settings as their technological knowledge isn't likely to be up to that! Hi After this new updates, I see lot of bugs wrt zoom on MacBook air 10.12.6version. 1. Updates keep crashing. I must have updated the same patch must be for 20 times but every time it goes back to 4. 6...... Version. And again and again I have to install the same. 2. Biggest issue wrt live streaming on youtube. It's not showing me the page where I can enter url and key but straight it opens in the browser, my previous stream and showing that as live. I m really fed up with these 2 issues which started after 30th May, with new updates, 5.0.4 version onwards. I have reinstalled the latest 5.0.5 version but again it went back to old version 4.6....veraion

I am a court reporter doing Zoom depos. Sometimes I will have like ten participants (lawyers and the witness). Is it possible to move the arrangement of the people in the boxes around? In other words, if Lawyer A is doing the questioning, the witness is answering, and Lawyer B is objecting, is possible to move their "box" that they are in all onto the same row, as opposed to having Lawyer A on the top row, the witness in the middle row, and the Attorney B on the bottom row, if that's how Zoom arranges it? I'd like to drag the main speakers all onto the same row and keep forgetting to even try it. Is that even possible? Thanks in advance...

I tried to have a zoom session with a health practitioner. I am on an iMac with Safari browser. I think she was also although maybe not. I was able to join and see the video but no audio. A window appeared and said my browser didn't support computer audio and that I should download Chrome or two other browser choices. The practitioner was getting both audio and video. We finally both went on and did the session with FaceTime. Was there something I could have done while on zoom to make the auto work without downloading another browser? Thanks.

Hi Steve - great video as ever! I am planning to teach using Zoom and need to be able to use the poll facility but, i am having problems with polling. It's set to 'on' everywhere it is possible to do so. Yet, i do not get the option to include a poll when scheduling a meeting. Nor does the polling icon appear at the foot of my screen when i enter my meetings. Today i uninstalled and reinstalled Zoom but, the problem continues. I am using an iMac with Catalina 10.15.5 (the latest version) - is there an incompatibility between iMacs and Zoom that you are aware of that may be causing this? I can see in web chats (e.g. Reddit) that other people have the same problem, but all the replies say are reinstall Zoom or change you settings. Thanks for reading this.

Steve, participants in a meeting can invite others to the meeting. There is no way to disable this (confirmed by Zoom). To me this is a big security hole. Just doesn't make sense to me. What do you think?

I have not checked it out, but if it is the case, I agree, but I imagine Zoom will close the loophole soon, they have been very responsive.

Charles Erwin Yaoundé should be able to lock the meeting as the host and it should prevent this problem. I do appreciate that it would be difficult if you have many participants and may be difficult to decide when to lock in that case.

@@snh_lname Join a meeting, then click on the down-arrow beside the microphone symbol. That shows choices for all of the speakers/headsets and microphones on your system. If you can't see your choice it probably means that they have not been set up correctly. You can also test the devices from here as well....recommended.

You will have different settings if you’re using desktop, ipad or iphone... Desktops have more setting options and iphone has the least.

I use Zoom for club meetings. I participate on a group where someone else is the host. When I host a group, it is sometimes difficult for people to join because they have the message that I am in another meeting. I am not in another meeting. That meeting was two hours ago.

Be sure you Leave Meeting before just shutting off your computer. You might be sure to Quit the Zoom app, also before starting the Zoom app again for your next meeting.

Zoom now wants to charge you $149 for annual fee as you begin your meeting. Last Sunday, about 20 minutes into my meeting Zoom told me that my meeting would end unless I joined with a paid acct. So, I signed up, because it showed $12.49 as the amount.. it was only later that I was billed for $149 which was an annual fee. I am disputing the charge. I thought this was very dishonest or like a switch and bait charge. So now the free accounts definitely have a 40 minute time limit , otherwise you have to pay.

Two things I dont get about Zoom: 1: I am right in saying you cant "call people" - like you can in Whatsapp or Facetime. You have to send them an invite to a meeting by email ? 2. Its called Zoom - but that's the one thing you cant do -- why cant you "zoom in" (digitally) from your webcam - this seems a basic feature to implement ....

Yes you’re correct you can’t call people you do have to send an invite, and zoom does not control Your camera, you should have a driver app installed on your computer that can zoom in or out change the focus colour balance etc.
