I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding about the FX operation. Note the color coding on the mixer surface indicates what controls pertain to what sections. EQ, pan, and FX send (blue area) are each separately set and stored for every input channel for which the SEL button is pressed and lit. The controls to the right (gray area) FX programs and the two adjustable parameters for the selected program, are not set and stored for each input. They are global settings pertaining to master channels only. The individual inputs do not separately access the FX controls.
@sugarcanerush10 ай бұрын
Yes, there are limitations to the effects. Once you set the type and the parameters, they apply to all the channels and mixes equally. You have to consider that the board is relatively inexpensive and for the price it does offer a lot of features!
@artysanmobile10 ай бұрын
@@sugarcanerush The implied notion of different FX programs for individual channels is something that simply does not exist anywhere for any price as it would not even be a good thing. I just wanted to clear that up for beginning users this product is aimed at.

Great Videos. Very clear and concise. I have 1 question. Do you hear the channel FX on the monitor mixes?
@sugarcanerush11 ай бұрын
Thanks for listening! Yes, you should hear the channel effects on the headphone mixes. I find that you have the have the "master" mix on to hear the effects on all the other headphone mix. Also remember to have the EFX return fader up.

Could you please explain how to set up speaker monitors with this mixer for a live performance. We can't seem to get any monitor sound from our unpowered speaker. Thanks.

Thank you for your great tutorial. I have one questio - is it possible to add different FX type (hall1,hall2,etc) to different chanel; so vocal has different type of fx from drums, just an example. Or it’s just one fx type for all? This one I can’t figure it out…
@sugarcanerush Жыл бұрын
Thanks for tuning in! Unfortunately, you can only use one type of effect for all the channels. You cannot, as far as I can see have a "hall" effect on one channel and then a "room" effect on another. If I can find anything else I will let you know. Also remember that the effects are basically used for monitoring. Hope this helps.

I have the L-8 and this was a helpful tutorial although I didn’t get what I was really seeking. I’d simply like to add echo to my mic but I don’t see anything about echo.
@sugarcanerush Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the tutorial! I don't have an L8 but I have a good friend that uses it and loves it. To set the effects on your monitors so you can hear effects on your microphone, You have to press the select button on the channel you are using, Press the "Effect button on the bottom right of your board. The current effect should display on your screen. Push the function button with the type of effect you want. Your choices are Hall 1, Hall 2, Room, Plate, Delay, Chorus and Vocal 1 and 2. You are probably looking for one of the vocal effects or maybe the delay. Adjust the amount of effect by raising the "effect send" on top. Make sure the "Effect return" fader is up. This should give you effect on your mic in your headphones. The effect will not be recorded on the individual track. I hope this helps you! If you haven't subscribed, please do so and make sure you listen to the music that we have created and posted in our channel.

Hi. I'm wondering how to connect a stage monitor? I noticed that when I connect with a mono cable using a guitar cable, I can only hear one channel. (the monitor has a Combo XLR/Jack) the same with the stereo jack/xlr cable. I can only hear one channel on the monitor. but if we do not insert the jack all the way, both channels can be heard. I'm not sure if this is appropriate. all outputs are the same.
@sugarcanerush8 ай бұрын
There are a couple of things that you can try. I am assuming that you have powered monitors. Try plugging a 1/4" guitar cable into the Monitor out L and right. If you are panning all your faders to center, both signals should be the same. This way you can plug in two monitors. One using the left and another using the right. You can have a different mix for your monitors than the master mix if you assign the "A" to the "A" monitor. You could have the same mix as the master if you assign the "master" mix to "A" Another way would be plugging a stereo cable into the Headphone outputs and using a splitter to separate left from right. It's not the ideal way but it should work. The L20 has a better monitor section that allows for plugging in monitor speakers for live performances. Hope this helps.
@jaroslawzytkiewicz8 ай бұрын
@@sugarcanerush I only use one stagepas 200. yes, if I use two cables, output A left and A right. are two channels. this is a solution with an additional cable. I have a 1/4 stereo jack to xlr cable. the same problem. There's a stereo input for music here, I'm thinking of using it. I have already ordered a 15m stereo 1/4 cable on both ends. I think it will be ok. Thank you for the tip
@sugarcanerush8 ай бұрын
@@jaroslawzytkiewicz If you are using your stagepass 200 just as a monitor, you can plug into the input one the left output "A" and into channel 2 the right output "A" that will give you both signals from your board.

Loving your videos. I have a question if you can help. Seem like all recording to DAW or on board SD are pre-EQ.... Is there a way to record post EQ whether it be instrument directly in or mic? If anyone knows I'm basically trying to find this out before I decide to buy one. Thanks again, keep up the awesome vids
@sugarcanerush Жыл бұрын
John, thank you for watching! Remember to go in the channel and listen to our music! The separate tracks that you record whether directly to the SD card or as an audio interface to you DAW will record pre EQ and effects. This is not a bad thing. If you are doing mixing and mastering on your computer DAW, you can get better control and better sounding effects on your DAW. On the other hand if you want to do it all on the board, you can record a stereo mix to the Master channel that will have the EQ and effects that you use on your board. The advantage of this is that if you maybe used too much effects or didn't eq properly, you can always fix and redo the stereo master track. I hope this helps, let me know if you want me to include anything on my next video. I am planning to start doing segments on recording as an audio interface to Cakewalk DAW.

@@sugarcanerush thanks so much. I can see the benefits of pre EQ output. I was just not able to find if there was a way to capture a sound I liked in the case I wanted to. Thanks for the tutorials for this, I'm debating between this and a Tascam Model 12. I've heard other demos where if I'm not mistaken, they said this Zoom unit does NOT record effects. Is that true? So if you're recording vocals with reverb or delay, the effect bypasses the recorder? I hope I misunderstood that.
@sugarcanerush Жыл бұрын
This board uses the effects only for monitoring. When you record a track the effects or EQ will not record. The recording is Pre effects and EQ. That said it is not a bad thing, because if you record clean tracks, then you have the ability to transfer to a DAW on your computer and play with the effects and eq that you like. If you record using the effects that come included in the board, then you will not be able to change it when you are mixing. So the answer is you cannot record using the effects on the board to the individual tracks, you can only use the effects for monitoring and for the "Master mix" that you can do to the master channel.

Hi there, is it possible to ajust EQ for each monitor out? or just the volumes?

You can adjust separate eq setting for each channel but for different monitor mixes, the only thing you can change is the volume. If I find out more, I will let you know.

If we're all sharing an IEM transmitter meaning there's 4 IEM receivers all connected to the same transmitter. How would I fully control each members in-ears by lowering or raising instruments/vocals individually? I want to lower some instruments and raise the vocals and my own instrument in my In-ears only? And also do the same to the other members
@sugarcanerush Жыл бұрын
I think you would have to have a transmitter per mix. You can plug each transmitter to the monitor mix out (A-B-C-D-E.) If you only have one transmitter sending to all in ears, you will only get one mix. I don't use those but that is my best guess.

I can hear anything from the computer although the meters are hot

I use it on my PC and this is how I have it set up. Turn off the mixer. Put the mode switch to Audio Interface. Connect a USB cable from the "USB device port" to your computer USB in. Set the "Class compliance mode" to Off. Turn on the mixer. Make sure you have the right drivers installed. In Windows make sure you go under settings to "Sound" and select "line" and pick the Zoom L12 audio. On Channel 9/10 the USB 1-2 light should be red. Try plugging your headphones to "A" and the switch to "master" On the Fader Mode buttons make sure the Master button is red. You should be good to go. Hope this helps.
