Yes definitely you have done a great job, Sri Lanka has a colonial past under three countries (Portuguese Dutch and British) and it is world famous for tea ☕️ and spices as well as gems.there are eight world heritages sites in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 as a tropical country we have only two seasons it’s rainy or sunny ☀️ 😂 Southern and eastern coast lines are renowned for surfing 🏄‍♀️ Sri Lankan society is multi ethnic and multicultural. Majority is Sinhalese. Elephants 🐘 Sigiriya , Gall fort city ,ruins ,hundreds of waterfalls and much more. You should explorer Anuradapura, polonnaruwa, kandy they are unesco heritage cities, and Colombo, Galle fort city, Hikkaduwa, jaffna, Arugambe surf & other sports, tangalle beaches,Hambantota, Yala national park, wilpattu national park there are so many national parks there you can see so many wild elephants, leopards ..etc Udawalawa national park , Sri padaya(Adam's peak), dambulla cave temple, Sigiriya( lion rock),Mirissa beach towan, ALLA , negombo, horton plains, Pinnawala elephant orphanage, Sinharaja rain forest ,Knuckles mountain Nuwaraeliya and there are so many places

10:06 “Jetavanaramaya” yes it is the 3rd tallest ancient structure in the world (first one is the Great Pyramid of Giza and the 2nd one is the Pyramid next to it! 😂 and this is 3rd!) Also “Jetavanaramaya” is THE tallest clay brick structure in the World! And the construction of it was as mysterious as the pyramids and set to be built way faster for its time (no strong evidence though)... Best part of the island is that it has something for everyone who visits....

And 'tank' means a lake or reservoir, natural or man-made, usually of fresh water. Another word for Veva is Vila. Man-made 'tanks' are built for irrigation purposes. I live in Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte. Although it became the capitol city in the late 70s (or was it early 80s?) the commercial capitol is still Colombo. Great video. Thank you.

Wewa(වැව) is the sinhala word for man made lake. There are more than 25,000 wewa is Sri Lanka. Largest if them are Nuwara wewa in Anuradhapura ( built in 2nd AD), Kala wewa, Yoda wewa(giant lake in Mannar), Parakrama Samudra in Polonnaruwa.

Great video, On the flag reference, what you saw was the Buddhist flag displayed infront of an old buddhist temple. The flowers were indeed lotuses and this flower is offered in temples to a buddha statue as gratitude. You should definitely visit Sri Lanka one day..

That Tiny car is actually a tuk tuk (Locals call Three Wheel), The flag you saw is the Buddhist flag and its not a house it's a temple under construction. Next to it is a 'Wewa'. In English its a tank, a man made tank to store rainwater mainly for agriculture. The name Sri Lanka was given at the time of Independence. Before that Sri Lanka was called 'Helaya' and 'Siw helaya'. Its derived from 'Hela' language used in the country. Today we call sinhala language though there are some differences. By the way, Please blink your eyes :)))
