I actually have a fun memory of this exhibit. My mother and I went on a trip to the Bronx zoo, I noticed that one of the cockroaches escaped its enclosure. In order to save its life, I blocked the cockroach’s path with my shoe and I informed other zoo goers about the escaped animal while my mother (who actually hates bugs like cockroaches) got one of the zookeepers and he put the roach back where it belonged. I performed a good deed that day.

This was another one of my favorite exhibits at the Bronx Zoo, and it is probably the only exhibit I know of in any zoo that actually focuses on Madagascar! From the amazing exhibit designs to its rare and one if a kind animals, this place really lives up to "You can't judge a book by its cover". It's a hidden gem all to itself, just like the real Madagascar.

in the zoo of frankfurt (germany) there is also a whole exhibit dedicated to madagaskar (lemurs only ofc). unfortunately it's very old and looks like a swimming area hence to all the tiles.

Yes! Childhood unlocked. Every single time I go to the Bronx Zoo and visit Madagascar, that theme song plays in my head as soon as I see the Sifakas.

I believe Nashville Zoo is the other US zoo to have Ring-Tailed Vontsira but like all of their cool and rare small mammal species they are kept BTS

The exhibit that was the top of my list of exhibits to see at the Bronx Zoo and nice tour. And I like the thumbnail, too. 🙂👍

Nashville Zoo is the other one in the United States that has Ring-tailed Vontsira, though the individual isn't on exhibit. It was possibly on exhibit though via the Veterinarian Center last year for a brief time.

They actually have multiple pairs of Vontsira and breed them regularly.

I would get rid of the Children’s Zoo at Zoo Atlanta. And then replace it with Zoo Miami’s Amazon & Beyond. Great tour as always, Zach.

Last week we visited the Bronx zoo on a very quiet day. We had the whole Madagascar exhibit to ourselves. Was amazing, especially the fossa asleep right by the glass window

I would get of Adventure Cove at the Columbus Zoo and replace it with Houston Zoo South American Pantanal because I just realized there’s no South American exhibit there and that’s one of the best ones. Overall fantastic tour Zach and this definitely gets me excited to visit the Bronx Zoo sometime in the future. Also just want to ask if the mouse house is your favorite area of the Bronx Zoo or is it another area?

Beautiful video. There is a small Madagascar exhibit at the Catoctin Zoo in Frederick, Maryland and they have 3 beautiful Fossas that are always active and on exhibit.

The other zoo with ring-tailed mongoose is the Nashville Zoo, which has an absolutely insane small carnivore collection

I would get rid of the Kalahari Kingdom at Franklin Park Zoo and replace it with St. Louis's Red Rocks! Great video! Hoping to go next month!

I've actually been lucky enough to see a ring-tailed vontsira since one of my local zoos, Hemsley Conservation Centre has one and is the only place in the UK to have them.

in the berlin zoo (germany) at the carnivore exhibit they have a big breeding group of the ringtailed mongoose and also the narrow-striped mongoose which is endemic to madagascar as well!

1:11 i'd bulldoze the Lost Valley from Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and replace it with Africa from Australia Zoo. Not to say that Lost Valley is a bad bit of the zoo but Africa is just better

Oh, there are so many red ruffed lemurs in this one troupe in the zoo. the dominant female👸🏿, 3 adult males🧑🏿‍🎤🧑🏿‍🎤🧑🏿‍🎤, 3 yearlings siblings🧍🏿👫🏿 and 2 young sisters👩🏿‍❤️‍👩🏿.

I would get rid of the small mammal house at the Philadelphia zoo and replace it with animals of the night from the Memphis zoo.

Philly native here--the small mammal house closed years ago. Currently the building holds Spiders Alive!, an arachnid house which is meant to be temporary, but future plans are uncertain.

If you’re going to talk about the Bronx Zoo, you’re far from done because there are still plenty of areas to explore there such as World of Birds, Aquatic Bird House, Children’s Zoo, Africa, and Gelada Reserve

Just saying but if you go to back to the Omaha zoo you should do the Madagascar exhibit and I am saying that you should do that exhibit because I remember it and I really enjoyed it and they have Madagascar animals that the Bronx both has and don’t have and species that they don’t have that Omaha has are the Mongoose lemur, Collared and common brown lemurs, Malagasy giant rat and the Aye Aye which is the world’s largest nocturnal primate and what I meant by species that Omaha has that the Bronx has are the ring tailed lemur, The Red and Black and white ruffed lemurs, Fossa and radiated tortoise and what I like about the exhibit is that they give their fossa outdoor space.

I would bulldoze the Primate, Cat and Aquatics building at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and replace it with the Toledo Zoo Aquarium. The primates can be moved to the upcoming Primate Forest.

Not really an exhibit, but they replaced the pond at the fort wayne children's zoo in the African adventure, for a kids obstacle course. I'd love for them to bulldoze that and replace it with any small animal, like guinea fowl or upgrade some of their animals habitats. Such as moving the porcupines that are in a way too small enclosure
