VISIT BREAKDOWN, OPINIONS, AND TIPS ON HOW TO ENHANCE YOUR BRONX ZOO VISIT
The Bronx Zoo of New York City is one of the largest metropolitan zoos in the world. Spanning an impressive 265 acres, it is home to over 6,000 animals from around the globe, representing more than 700 species. Founded in 1899, the zoo has a rich history and has continuously evolved to provide an immersive and educational experience for visitors of all ages.
Beyond its captivating exhibits, the Bronx Zoo is committed to conservation and animal welfare. It actively participates in breeding programs aimed at preserving endangered species and collaborates with various research and conservation organizations worldwide. By visiting the zoo, patrons not only gain knowledge and appreciation for wildlife but also contribute to the zoo's efforts to protect and conserve threatened species.
This is the channel's first breakdown video that summarizes every single section of a zoo. Highlighting the must dos, must sees, and must don'ts for your visit. Bronx is the most requested zoo this channel has ever seen, and I am finally happy to be presenting arguably the greatest zoological park in America.

In case you didn't hear the news, I broke my zoom lens while filming the tree kangaroos... literally the fourth animal in on my two day trip. Seeing that I couldn't really get closeups of most of the larger animals, I had to adapt to the situation, and here is what the Bronx Zoo's tour schedule currently looks like: *1. JungleWorld (2023)* *2. Wild Asia Monorail (2023)* *3. Congo Gorilla Forest (2024)* *4. Mouse House or Madagascar (need more footage of both) (2025 & 2026)* *5. Aquatic Bird House, Birds of Prey & Sea Bird Aviary (2027)* *6. Gelada Reserve (2028)* *7. Zoo Center & Astor Court (2028)* *8. World of Birds (2029)* *9. World of Reptiles (2030)* *10. Himalayan Highlands, Tiger Mountain and Bears (2031)* *11. African Plains (2032)*

just a question… why does it take so long to record these? why not record all in one day or weekend
@ZooTours

Good question - I have become a perfectionist when it comes to filming. In order to guarantee the best episode possible, I need 250-300 clips of every major section. Time, fatigue, camera battery life, and animal cooperation all play a factor in preventing me from filming everything in two days. As for the schedule itself, it's not a matter of when these are filmed. All major zoos get one feature per year to make way for other parks and their turn.

Oh Jesus, the sarcasm at the start just almost got me! Lol, this zoo is my baby. 1. Shame you missed out on the Children's Zoo! I can understand skipping it but they have some really good theming in there! 2. Yeah, the "add-ons" are only required on Wednesdays when the Zoo is free! The tickets are super worthwhile for the price vs. what you get! 3. That gibbon loves to sit there all the time! She's super personable

And also, 2 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend..... 1) What year did the SF Zoo's only recent giant eland, Bubsy, passed away from old age? 2) What new animals & exhibits do you recommend the San Diego Zoo to add & build for the future?

As someone who’s visited Zoo Miami, St. Louis & Omaha and only wants to visit Bronx for a couple species is it worth the high ticket price??? Wild Asia monorail is my biggest issue. They have Gaur, Barasingha, Sambar, Bactrian Deer, Hog Deer and they won’t even stop the monorail to let visitors get good footage. I feel like its the whole historic vibe and exhibit innivation that makes zoo enthusiasts want to go but you can see those species at a much cheaper price at other AZA facilities or right behind glass at their Manhattan neighbor the AMNH.

The Bronx Zoo is my favorite and go to zoo! I’ve been visiting that place for years. First and foremost though, do not even traverse the immediate outer surroundings of the zoo grounds, trust me. I usually enter via a highway exit that takes me directly to the zoo’s river entrance where I either enter at Asia or near the bison. I go on day trips there so I don’t really need a hotel. A lot of walking but worth it!

It could just be that I'm not really a small mammal guy, but I wasn't overly impressed by the Mouse House. The exhibits seemed very repetitive, and it just seemed like one exhibit after the other for very similar-looking species. That being said, Bronx Zoo is phenomenal, and I was blown away by the ZooCenter monitor exhibit, Madagascar Spiny Forest, Congo Gorilla Forest, the Sea Bird Aviary, Gelada Reserve, and some of the massive ungulate herds.

It has been ten years since I have been to the Bronx Zoo. It is one of my all time favourite zoos; my family would make a trip there at least once a year during the summer because it was my favourite place to be. So much has changed and has been updated since I went. I still remember when they had the "World of Darkness" indoor exhibit.

This was an amazing introduction to what is currently my favorite zoo in the country (outside of Florida of course 😅). It's been over a year since my trip to visit the Bronx and it's 4 neighboring facilities, and it was the best zoo experience of my life. As a species list kind of guy, it was a solids goldmine when it came to all the animals that this zoo home, though the heatwave at the time prevented me from seeing all the animals. Still, totally worth it! I cant wait to see your tours through this wildlife paradise, and you can bet I'll one day make my return to the bronx for all that I have missed.

My thoughts exactly about Wild Asia. I have such a love-hate relationship with that attraction, as the lineup of animals is unbeatable (especially the gaur herd!!), but the fact that you can only see them for a few seconds at a time on a nonstop ride that’s open for a portion of the year is such a bummer. And thanks for highlighting the underrated gem that is the Mouse House!! Not enough people show it the love it deserves!

The Bronx Zoo used to have an incredible nocturnal house. I’m bummed that they closed it. It was in a massive building. It’s a shame they never repurposed that building. I do wish the Bronx Zoo would update some areas and add some new elements. I haven’t been there since 2009, but it doesn’t seem like much has changed since then.

JungleWorld originally housed black leopards. I don't think it's a "bad" leopard exhibit, but I agree it would be nice to see their Amur Leopards in a larger outdoor exhibit similar to Tiger Mountain and The Himalayan Highlands, especially since Amur Leopards are cold tolerant and can therefore be housed outdoors year-round. Similarly I wouldn't describe the Birds of Prey Aviary as "small cages", but it is admittedly one of the zoos older and less impressive/innovative exhibit spaces. Finally, it would be nice to see the old Monkey House repurposed for smaller species. PS) The Bronx Zoo had an excellent nocturnal house called the World of Darkness. Unfortunately it was closed after the city stopped supporting the zoo.
