I have a distinct memory when the Mania soundtrack was being teased a few tracks and a few trailers at a time, I actually tagged Tee Lopes on Twitter and told him "you CANNOT tease us with jams like this, this is beautiful, and this will make the wait for this game even more difficult." Act 1's past remix is so clever in it instrumentation, and is so gosh dang smooth it almost eclipses the soundtrack its paying homage to. It still blows my mind.

I love how not only Stardust Speedway BF theme became Metal official theme, but also each alliteration became more and more... *Violent.* More and more reflecting the true nature of Metal Sonic. A weapon of destruction that doesn`t care of anything. A bloodlust machine at the peakest.

Fun Fact: Sonic CD was actually a obscure game. Since the Sega CD was priced higher than the Sega Genesis, many people didn’t buy it because of the price or they just felt like they didn’t need it, causing the Sega CD to fail. Because of this Sonic CD ended up becoming a weird and obscure gem since it wasn’t played by most fans. This might be part of the reason Stardust Speedway’s theme is also associated with Metal, since many weren’t able to play the original game to know that it was a stage theme and not a character theme.

To that one guy that keeps spamming me: No the Sega CD did not come out in 1991, it came out near the end of 1992 close to 1993. Wouldn’t you know this was close to when Sega started failing in the console market, where in the original comment I specifically said, “near the fall of Sega.” I also specifically said that this might contribute to Stardust Speedway’s theme being thought up as Metal’s theme instead, big word is might. To answer your question at 31:03 yes Forces attempts to be more serious in it's tone since the plot is about the war to take back the world from Eggman who managed to successfully take it over, so the US version was used since it's more intense and dark than the JP version

Generations just had the US version of Stardust Speedway as an alternate soundtrack you could play in any level. It was an unlock-able you got for collecting enough red star rings

So, by default, Generations plays the remix of thr JP theme. But it also included a new remix of the US version you could unlock. Once you've cleared a level, you can change the music to any unlockable music

The red character that appears on the thumbnail of Sonic Forces is the custom character, in the game you have the ability to create your character with a ready-made mold, having the ability to change its type of eyes, type of head, species and colors, as you complete missions you are given random items to change the type of weapon you will use and the clothes you will wear although the latter is somewhat limited...

The fun thing about the Mania and Forces remixes of Stardust Speedway is that they were joint anniversary games and as such, each had their own respective version of Stardust Speedway. Mania got the JP/PAL version and Forces got the US version. Please check out eventually original songs done by the Sonic fandom, like Victor McKnight's trilogy of songs based on the Sonic movies(Ready Set Go, Up 2 Speed, Darker Side of Me), or his other originals like Blink of an Eye, All my Fears, Starry Sky, Beyond, Start Again, Shine, Aurora, etc. His covers, like Endless Possibilities and Vandalize, are also fire too!

Sonic has basically every genre of music out there save for country as far as I know. The modern games are more known for rock, and the classics are more known for this type of music, though they aren't mutually exclusive.

I can't believe I forgot 2 of those remixes, thankfully ZachGrahamVGPiano was there to link you to those other 2! the Team Ultimate song is short because Team Ultimate is a mechanic in Team Sonic Racing, in this racing game you'll play in teams, and by making coop actions with your teammates you'll fill up your Team Ultimate where all the 3 Team members can use to gain a big amount of boost+get invincible for a few seconds, while their theme plays

😮 Ayyy! Thanks for the shoutout! As a lifelong hardcore Sonic fan, it brings me great joy to see others enjoying some the the best video game music ever created. (Biased opinion, of course.. 😅) But yeah, to answer some of your questions: I'm /fairly confident/ I got these to u in the correct order or release.. Hopefully.. (nbd if not) In Generations, the default song when fighting Metal Sonic is the JP version, but throughout the game, there are a lot of unlockable extra songs that you can choose to play in any stage/boss, one of which being the US version. So both are in the game & you can choose either version. Sonic 4.. is complicated, as it released in two "episodes", two parts of the same game (tho Ep.2 is more or less just a sequel to Ep.1) with Ep.1 releasing before Generations, & Ep.2 after. & the red guy between the 2 Sonics in Forces is the 'default' Custom Character - one of the main selling points of that game. Sonic Generations is a 20th anniversary game, and it definitely delivers on that front. There are several remixes done for many songs from most Sonic games all the way up to that point! They probably didn't want to leave US fans from having the version of Stardust Speedway they grew up with (Sonic CD ports to mobile came out the same year). The US version is an unlockable that can be swapped out, along with many other tracks playing over the stage. The JP remix in this game will always be my favorite iteration, but it's excellent that Sonic Team delivered music on all fronts!

Stardust Speedway is such a good track! Never gets old; glad you enjoy it as well! There is one more Metal Sonic theme that isn’t in the games that I think you’d like though. It’s from an awesome little series called Sonic Mania Adventures. I continued to play Stardust Speedway Act 1 in Sonic Mania (the smooth Past remix) because it was a game that demanded my finishing it! And the whole song could be heard naturally going through the act, too, lol. It used to be the original Past theme that was favorite, still love it, but Sonic Mania's version took over SO HARD.

If only the Metal Sonic fight in Forces went as hard as the song implies it does, but just like the rest of the game, reality is often disappointing. The music is honestly the only really good part about Forces, but the instrumentation held it back a lot.

8:30: The JP version played in the Console/PC version, the US version played in the 3DS version 13:37: Sonic 4 is an episodic mobile game later ported to Console/PC, Episode 3 was never released due the game's poor reception and negative response to it's misleading title 22:42: Weird fact about this one, this boss fight has a "Mandated Mandela Effect", when the game came out, the third phase of Metal's boss has Metal chasing you alongside a giant spiked wall, when version 1.04 came out, the boss's third phase changed for no reason and has Metal Sonic transforming into Giga Metal Sonic, removing the spiked wall entirely 25:07: That's you, Sonic Forces let's you play as your custom character, also the Metal that you fight isn't even the real Metal, it's giant replica/illusion created by the Phantom Ruby (Basically the Reality Stone) 30:10: because whenever a character does their Team Ultimate move, their respective theme plays

The Generations part is incorrect, both versions play the JP theme during the battle. The US theme is an unlockeable song in the Console/PC version only.

That first one is false. Both console and 3DS use the JP version by default. You can unlock the US version in console Gens. I know this because I actually own the 3DS version and used to play it a lot.
