"This song gives me anxiety" That's exactly the vibe, 2 versions of eggman are threatening both dimensions' freedom and the super boss fights always have this balancing act between collecting rings as they drain away and fighting the boss The stakes are at their peak in this stage

Another Hideki Naganuma classic! ^^ Fun fact: Despite the title, the original sample is "Rappin' Black", instead of "Wrapped in Black", sampled from "Sell Your Soul" by the Watts Prophets. And the "Too black, too strong" part was sampled from Malcolm X's Grassroots speech. But Naganuma-san never directly sampled songs, it was always through Sample CDs that SEGA owned copies of. =)

Blaze is the classical orchestra part of the song and Sonic is the hiphop/rap part of the song. They both team up and there genres combine in the same song. When you switch between them there genre take the front stage while the other takes the background.

I'm glad that you mention that this song give you a sense of anxiety because I felt the same way when I first listen to this as a kid, lol. This song was for the true final boss, something you only unlock after collecting specific collectables throughout the game. Sonic Rush's vibe is pretty upbeat so I was really caught off guard at how serious and dark this track was. I remember getting chills and had my heart beating through the music alone. It doesn't help that you're on a time limit throughout so I had this overwhelming feeling of everything closing in on me, lol. I think it's really cool that the composer managed to do a complete 180 in term of tone, though. It helps make the experience much more memorable

8:05 that's Burning Blaze, her own version of Super Sonic. the main difference is that Burning Blaze can trow fire balls while Super Sonic can send back Eggman's attacks

Nice! I think it'd be fun to circle back to Frontiers at some point, there are more good track than just the boss fights. Some personal recommendations: Island themes - Kronos Island: 7th Mvt. - Ares Island: 7th Mvt. - Chaos Island: 7th Mvt. - Rhea Island - Ouranos Island - Theme of Starfall Islands Character themes (expansion ost) - Maybe If... - Amy Mvt. - Blood Flow - Knuckles Mvt. - Another Passage - Tails Mvt. - Second Wind - Sonic Mvt. Cyberspace - All of 4-A, 4-B... through to 4-I lol (cyberspace in expansion ost) - 1-2: Flowing (common fan favorite)

Don’t wanna be a dick, but just thought I should point out that part 2 actually plays when you’ve gotten the boss to low health, as is the same for the sped up version of the other boss themes in Rush. Trust me, I was addicted to this game as a kid lol

Pretty good remix, I like tracks with a strong definitive finish though, rather than peter out, the ending is your final impression, the last word you wanna say to the listener. Sonic Rush's WiB had its results screen for the context of the game and explosions and voices, so that obviously covered for the natural state of it not having a definitive end point, it's part of the whole integrated experience. and the OST release did have that end point, did the best they could to wind down into it, being as that it's a part one individual track release and it's the lower intensity of the parts, it winding down into just the wailing and the guitar does suit it well.

One of the best final boss themes in the franchise! Rush is always a win! In the future, you should react to original songs by the Sonic community, like Victor McKnight's Trilogy of songs based on the Sonic movies(Ready Set Go, Up 2 Speed, Darker Side of Me), and CG5's work(Speed in my Soul, Run, and his covers of Speed Me Up, Infinite, Vandalize and Blink of an Eye)

I doubt people really care but in case you're curious on the context of this music; throughout the events of Sonic Rush, two alternate dimensions have been connected; Sonic's and Blaze's and the Eggman from both timelines have teamed up to created a new machine that drained the power from Blaze's Sol Emeralds (Her universe's equivalent of the Chaos Emeralds) Sonic helps her to restore the energy to the emeralds and then they both transform, Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic and Blaze uses the Sol Emeralds to become Burning Blaze (the cool design she has during the remix that was watched in this video). Together they fight Eggman and Eggman Nega who are attempting to essentially make their own parallel dimension that they rule over whilst dooming the other two to die by colliding with each other and so Super Sonic and Burning Blaze team up to take them down, this theme plays during that and the music very well fits the fight (as I recall, this is one of the hardest final boss fights in any Sonic game due to the time limit and it being relatively difficult to increase it during the fight).
