Best Zorn Palette Painting demo I have seen. Beautiful combination of paint handling, painterly brushwork and aesthetics. I love how Peter communicates his thoughts, intentions and corrections as he paints. Good demonstration of measuring, building value and paint application in likeness construction. He is inside Anders Zorn head as he paints. I feel like I learned something new by watching these videos.

This series was excellent. It has inspired me to start using the Zorn palette. Focusing on just a few colours is a great way to pay more attention to the value range of a painting.

A brilliant portrait of bearded man. Thank you Peter for sharing this 5 part video using a Zorn palette. Very detailed commentary. Loved the detail brush work around the eyes. David Judd

I remember when I was about half way through my oil painting education and I had freshly read a book by Virgil Elliott titled "Oil Painting Techniques from the Renaissance to the Present". In it he had a section dealing with the Zorn pallet. I was excited to try everything new and see how far I could get improving. Well, I must say it was both very encouraging and discouraging. You made this look nearly effortless sir! Brilliantly executed and quite a lovely piece!

I really got alot out of this. You have a very good way of instructing. You don't go too fast, it's just right. Very interesting to see how the Zorn palette works. This painting looks just like the gentleman. I've saved your website for later, to get your videos.

bravo! Ditto to everything folks have said below about your series. I'm also thinking how excellent your commentary is for the many useful repetitions about restraint. As an amateur, the fatal attraction of detail is beguiling but your process and very mindful commentary will help me think along the same lines in my next few attempts. It really is very useful to hear a 'script', if you will, of thoughts I can adopt when I feel being sucked into tight focus. For example, your advice about working on regions and structures rather than isolating an element.

I love this and can't wait to try our this palette. It oroduces such beautiful subtle colours. A quick question, do you paint wet on wet and dont't leave the each layer dry first?
@peterkeeganartist31352 жыл бұрын
So pleased you like this Hannah and best of luck. Yes, I paint wet into wet - it's one of the qualities I love most about working with oils.

How long did you wait for the paint to get dry in between all these stages?
@peterkeeganartist3135 Жыл бұрын
Hi Victor. No waiting time at all. The whole painting was painted wet-into-wet (Alla prima).
