Thanks! I try to review for the average buyer, not the highly technical one... Frankly I think the power connector issue is actually one of the most important, how many people have bought the "Amp! Edition" version of this card and been stumped by the pair of 8-pin PCI-E connectors? Whatever the number, I'm sure it is more than 0.

Great review! I've always been aware of the drastic price increase for 1 or 2 frames when it comes to the top of the top end of cards, but things like adding an extra fan or power connector just to look more expensive was never something I'd considered. Just ordered a Zotac 1070 mini and can't wait!

At 1080p 60htz (which is what my monitors are) its GREAT! No frame drops, plenty of memory, never an issue. It also has GREAT (I think its the top) OCing ability compared to some other 1060's. I also LOVE the MSI software that comes with it. I got it on Black Friday special for $229.99 but I wouldn't spend more than $260 for it. Any more than that and I would just save up for a 1070 or spend a little less and get an RX 480 8gb, if you can deal with AMD cards/drivers. My biggest complaint about it is completely aesthetic (the red accents.) I'm working on that right now. So all in all I would say its one of, if not the, best investment for my computer I've made in the last 3 years. I paired it with an I5-6600k build OC'd to 4.2Ghz, M.2 storage, MSI Z170A SLI Plus mobo, EVGA 650GQ PSU. I'll link the PCPP list if you want.

Nathan Elmore Getting a very similar setup, same CPU, same PSU and card. I've heard great things about the twin frozer cooler and general design of MSI's graphics cards and you preety much confirmed it for me :). Mobo im going with is the z170 krait x3, going for a red and black colour scheme with the fractal define C and Cryorig R1, saw it on OC3D's review of the case and thought it looked very good. Unfortunately all your pricing information is kinda redundant for me :b since i live in Australia. Here in Aus, the 1060 costs $429 and the 1070 $769 (Both the MSI gaming X versions) But the thought of the info is appriciated :) RX 480 is actually the same price as the 1060 here for the gaming X model intrestingly, so its all for preference. Been an nVdia boy most my life tho, started with the gtx 275 and been commited ever since so the 1060 it is. Again, thanks for the useful info :) Also i plan on playing overwatch at 144hz which from benchmarks i've looked at online is easily possible, plus maybe some fallout and skyrim modding on the side.

Great video, I have just bought one of these and am very pleased with it. You mentioned that it is overkill for 1080p at 60 Hz, however my previous card, a GTX 1060 3 gb, struggled with Witcher 3 and GTA V at ultra settings. Now that I have the 1070, I have cranked everything up to ultra and get a constant 60 fps (at 1080p 60 Hz).

I was deciding between this Zotac mini and the Gigabyte mini. I decided to go for the Gigabyte 1070 Mini after reading an in-depth review of it somewhere that said the temps on the card are actually pretty good. I have it in my Corsair 380T Case and it never goes over 60 degrees according to MSI Afterburner. It's a wonderful card.

I can confirm that keeping original packaging helps you sell graphics cards on craigslist. Sold my Gtx 960 for a decent chunk of cash to fund an upgrade to a Radeon 480. Blew some compressed air on it, took 6-7 nice pictures of it from different angles, put it back in it's original anti-static bag with the foam material it came in. Sold it in 48 hrs.

I've had this card for about a month now. Although my mid tower supports the (much) bigger cards I decided to go with the Zotac Mini since it was one of the cheapest 1070s (400-415 Euros in Germany) and it comes with a 5 year warranty when you register your card online. Performance is great.The fans are quiet and keep the temperature below 70 Degrees C but because of that it can get a bit loud when under extreme load i.e. playing Witcher 3 at 1440p max settings (I can't hear it through my headset though). I'll probably tweak the fan curve so it can go up to 75 Degrees C. All in all, a great card for the price. I have no complaints at all.

I got the 1070ti mini in a prebuilt for 1200 dollars along with an AMD 1700 and ripjaws ram with a 600w powers supply, along with an AIO cooler master liquid cooler..idle cpu is under 25c! Common light tasks are at 29c..I do keep my place cold though.. I cant find a better deal and 4k with minor tweaking(average of two medium settings, 75% high settings and maybe a few utra if I am lucky) is a thing 4k@60 or really close to it at all times. Right now there is less than 12 dollars between the two on amazon..GO 1070ti ALL THE WAY. This card just honestly shocked me and it stays under 70c with a minor boost of 2005 +/- on the core and +/- 380 on the memory. I use my rig for tv gaming so 4k@60 is just amazing guys. This card will fit in almost anything I want into the furture as well as ITX and Matx form factors. The case I am in now is the MATX IN WIN 301 a case that currently costs around 85-115 dollars. Also my card is insanely silent even at a custom curve of 73 percent once 45c is reached. Guys this pre built I got is insane, I have searched for over 15 hours and have not found a better price to performance and features comparison and its MATX to boot so its semi portable without being so small that it gives up performance. If you could tell me that I could get 1080 like performance, a 8 core hyper threaded cpu (Yes I know its SMT), a liquid cooler, a 500gb SSD boot drive in a good case for under with a name brand memory module for 1250 with a 5 year warranty a year ago I would not believed it. Your content is just a bless to watch and to help educate some friends that have trouble understanding concepts like price/performance ratios. Just a thought about nVidia Surround on 3x1080p: it´s 75% of 4K pixel count. A 4K display is equivalent to 4 1080p displays on a 2x2 setup. So it´s easier to play on 3 1080p on surround than on a 4K, and it may only tax the precessor a little more due to the greater horizontal FOV and some extra geometry to bem displayed at the same time. Titles that play well on 4K (and support surround properly) should play even better on surrround.

I don't know about Tech Deals opinion, but he seemed to approve of it in this video. I can tell you, I decided to get this card for my Office Build, where I VR on my Oculus between jobs, and it literally chews up anything I throw at it, no problem! I have a 1080 at the house, and to be honest, at least with the games I play, the 1070 is more then enough most of the time. I think your son will love it. Although since this was 4 months ago that you wrote this comment, hopefully by now, your son IS enjoying it, and you are enjoying his old 960!

I hoped youll talk a bit about temperatures. Its worth to mention that this card turn off fans at 55C and at gaming temps will go up to 75C and at idle it didnt go less than 44C (note: i got this last winter so it still didnt live trough the summer). You can use MSI afterburner to manually set the fans how you want them but meh. I dont know how healthy are these temps but just so you know if anyone is planning to buy it 2nd hand now when the prices went down. Its a great card overall. All games are running smooth at 60+ fps on ultra settings except AssAss Creed Odyssey which drops sometimes at 50-55 FPS. Good buy.

I have this graphics card. Very neat of ZOTAC to create a short-length version. Default fan settings are too low, antagonizing GPU Boost, which begins to reduce frequency at temperature 50 C. I achieved overclock to 2062 MHz, in-line with the average of Pascal. Temperatures at maximum power (averaging 165 W: 110% of TDP), maximum fan speed, ambient temperature 20 C, and Gelid GC-Extreme thermal interface material (not the default) is 66 C.

I bought one of these and I love it. Mine has some coilwhine but it doesn't bother me. It's fairly silent and cool. Boosts to 1924 out of box with 70-75c at 55% fan speed. I bought it cause it was the cheapest 1070.

"Shortest GTX 1070" ... *skips ahead, sees a 2-fan card* ... but what about the Gigabyte Mini ITX OC 1070 (6.65")? The Zotac 1070 Mini, according to pcpartpicker, is 8.27" (210mm). (Then as I'm watching, I hear you mention the GB card. :) ) I recently got the EVGA GTX 1060 3GB SC card, influenced in part by your reviews. :) (It's paired with an i7-4790K, ASRock Z97 Extreme6, Corsair AX760, Rosewill Thor V2, 3x 4TB + 1x 5TB HDDs (+ some uninstalled), 256GB Crucial M550 SSD, Windows 10 Pro.) My 3DMark Firestrike went from like 775 (Intel HD 4600) to 10490. Rise of the Tomb Raider (1080p high) went from 5.5 to 91 fps on the benchmark. GTA V on high-ish custom settings (est. VRAM use ~2 GB or so) got 60-100fps on the benchmark. Interestingly, though, cranking everything up to the absolute max in GTA V (so it'd show as using 8-9 GB VRAM at 1080p, although yes I did set the scale factor crazy high), the integrated graphics actually CRUSHED the 1060. The iGPU got 1.5-1.8 fps at the first segment of the benchmark, the 1060 3GB got 0.3 fps. (I didn't let the benchmark finish, of course.) I'm suspecting that's due to less latency from the CPU to system RAM, than from the GPU to system ram, as the GPU has to swap out with system RAM when its VRAM gets overwhelmed.

This guy is so right! The actual fps difference between all these cards with factory overclocks or not, fancy pcbs with several power inputs etc etc.. Is within margin of error territory, a couple of frames per second at the very most (Not even worth mentioning) Overclocking is a lottery, So that is not even a done deal on one card more than another. A second bios is one benefit, So you have room to push the shit out of it with custom bios, The second is better cooling... Apart from that, There is no performance benefit between them.

Just received my Zotac GTX 1070 mini. Interestingly enough my card has two 6-pin power connectors rather than one 8-pin. Also, this card didn't work in the new rig we were building or in my old system, so I had to send it back to Amazon. Nothing like forking over a big wad of money for nothing I suppose.

Well, it didn't work, so I suppose that's a possibility. The card looked the exact same on the outside. I didn't disassemble it or anything like that, though, so who really knows. Got it from some vendor off Amazon (LaLaLand?). Returned it and purchased a Radeon R9 Nano, and it fired right up once we installed it - like a card is supposed to do!

6.5 Teraflops = GTX 1070 or Titan X (Maxwell). Skip the GTX 1080 as performance increase is not worth it for the price point. Do not SLI when you can get a single more powerful card. 12.5 Teraflops = GTX 1080Ti/RX490 or Titan X (Pascal) in Q1 2017. Consider AMD for lower price point and competition to drive prices lower. Get Nvidia for better optimization in power, heat, and drivers.

I really like your videos, but you miss one of the important things about your recommended videos, which is the noise. Yes, asus is around 30cm, but for 3 fans the card is loud around 40db with 3 fans, insane. Msi gaming x is around 27 cm, which will fit most casses, and have 35 db noise at full load and.37 oc I tried zotac 2 fans 970 and i have card is noisy, without head phones it is not a optimal solution to have this in your pc. When it comes 1070, palit jetstream is a way to go, a quiet card and cheap one ( 34,6 full load/34,7 db after oc), msi gaming x 35,6 db at load and 37,1 db after oc. So overall, the best 1070 is jetstream ( it has 285 mm, compared to 279 when it comes to msi, they are quiet when compared to other cards). So good luck with your channel.

You're assuming the Zotac 1070 sounds anything like the Zotac 970... :) Further, each card is going to sound somewhat different, they aren't all exactly the same. Finally, the case you have them installed in will further affect it.

Sorry but i do not have db number for the mini but i do have for amp edition. 38,3 db on load and 40,9 db when oc'ed, these numbers are from open test bench. Still no bad db when it comes to others 1070, asus when oc'ed is around 42,9 db. I have to agree about every card sounding different, i do not mean the sound on db scale.

I have this card and its great. I don't think there is any card but the gtx titan X that will play 4k perfectly. I'm very satisfied with this card on my old 144 hz desk top because my 4k tv only plays at 60 hz anyway.

Good video, but really don't like how you recommend a low quality 400w PSU with a GPU like this. For a budget build sure, but if someone buys a card of this grade he should definitely invest in a high quality PSU with much higher safety. This PSU isn't a total bomb, but it surely isn't good one either.

U can overclock 3 fan cards a lot more. The base mhz is also a lot higher so its like precloked a little bit already. A lttle bit is a 100 mhz

john smith depends on what you want, I saw a video showing the extra overclocking power you get from the galax and it was null, I'd say if it's the same price it just comes Down to which you think looks best / fits in your case
