Hocus-Pocus is a great background piece for this masterpiece... An amazing build! and the 'antiquing' effects are award wining.. I loved this video with my favorite song and the model itself is just a killer model.....Wao...Ama-friking-zing!

I have stood in front of the Ho-229 at the Paul E Garber facility during a private tour some 30+ years ago and your model looks like I remembering seeing her. This was while the plane was still in original condition waiting to be restored.

I have seen quite a few builds of the HO 229 but no one has ever had the idea to tackle the project from that angle. Your idea was fantastic. why not build it like one of the prototype that was found during the liberation. Your skills obviously show your mastering at weathering techniques !! all the wiring added is top notch. This build is by far the best I have seen !! I have a great attention to details and I am blown away ! So few views...Ridiculous. I build mostly WW1 but I will do A HO229. Always wanted to do one. You are a great source of inspiration. Now you should do another one restored lol ;) .

Thank you for the kind words, lots of trial and error on this but that is how you grow as a scale builder.

Such a nice kit! They also produce a dual combo of one 1/72 and one 1/144 HO 229 for about 40 bucks:) the 1/72 model almost has the same detail as the 1/32 model!

One of the things that I turned up while doing research on the Ho 229 before I start to build mine was the information on the NASM site about the things that were discovered during the process of conservation on the V3 was that much of the plywood and lumber components, particularly on the interior, were painted in a greenish coating that appears to be a fireproof paint.

Nice painting. Why the wing panel lines tho ? Real ones are of laminated /plywood. Whats' up with the Silly oversized hose fittings in the wing. roots?
@pajbwj1
@pajbwj1 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, the panel lines and fittings are there because I have eyes and can see these features in the 229 pictures at the Smithsonian. ( airandspace.si.edu/collection-objects/horten-ho-229-v3/nasm_A19600324000) Out of scale maybe but I obviously used artistic freedom of this build

What a pity this amazing flying wing was not put into action by the Luftwaffe. It outperformed the Me 262. What a surprise it could have given the "terrorflieger" of the American 8th Airforce and British Bombercommand. Great piece of modelling work! What a scale beauty!
@barenekid9695

Actually recent Computer Aero analysis found that the IX performance was.. Markedly Less... than the Bros Horten 'claimed' it would be. Certainly Less than the 262 . the He 162 s' proven higher performance would have seriously embarrassed the Horten. The IX's Too thick airfoil reduced the speed envelope significantly and the things direction stability was poor... at best.

Could you tell me which products you use for the rust effects? Looks amazing!
@pajbwj1
@pajbwj1 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words, the rust effect were a combo of Model Master enamel stains and a combo of different oils and pastels. I tried to make different looking rust stains and corrosions on various areas using a "see how it looks" format. Some of the parts were salt chipped before applying the decayed look in the areas chipped

@@pajbwj1 i am thinking about to get started on working with oil paints, i dont know why but i always had this exaggerated "respect" of working with oil paints before:) but oil paints can achieve such an realistic shine and finish! Could you recommend some oil paints for modeling? And thanks for the salt tip i didnt knew that one before, i actually once used grounded pepper mixed with brown paint to recreate some kind of mud:)
@pajbwj1

Dr. Ziegler I use some Winton oil colors but any oil color that you can find will work. Experiment with diluting it with mineral spirits on different spare parts. One caution is that it can be harsh when applied to paint especially enamel I have found

Hello, I wonder whether or not you still have the Instruction Booklet which came with your Zoukei Moura kit? If so, is there any way I could persuade you to sell it to me? I love this aircraft and am determined to build a model of it myself but can't get hold of any decent plans. I will happily pay (via PayPal or Patreon) so please help me out if you can. Many Thanks

I thought to ask you in a PM, but don't know how to. Is this a 'what if build', as the few surviving 229 were in various stages of construction, and I don't think enough time passed when the war ended for any of them to have become derelict to the degree you modeled, but point me to your sources if one did become rusted and neglected to this degree. Fantastic degraded air frame effects, just want to know if there are sources, or an imaginary 'what if' build in fun.
@pajbwj1
@pajbwj1 4 жыл бұрын
It was built as a "what if " theme as would have been found almost finished in production many years later. I loosely followed the survivor bird at the Smithsonian and in finding the different materials that it was constructed with it was pretty much just made with a picture of what I had in my head of what it would look like. There is a model constructed by Sampson WS Yu that is a stellar copy of the Smithsonian exhibit.
