Chicago's like that overall, it's crazy. Some of the rough neighborhoods have enough abandoned properties to give an obvious run down vibe, but the architecture of the homes still standing is usually pretty good looking and sturdy. And there are some really nice parks in the middle of the hood all over, but not even the parks are always safe

That's always the killer. Ultimate example will forever be Compton, LA. Although I've be we been, I don't need to have been to know that in actual FACT & for the most part, on the face of it, Compton is very pretty looking. Compton is dominated by pretty little houses, with nicely kept front lawns, with a garage & back garden(s), all underneath the LA sunshine, shaded by palm trees. The streets (for the most part) are quite clean as well. So in a nutshell, NOT high-rises, with graffiti all over it & a dodgy subway system that encourages even more crime, i.e New York, for example. It's the total opposite. But you'd never think a place that looked like that, could have such a high murder rate & such a massive problem with gang culture. In a nutshell, if you're not from there, you can easily forget where you are. For outsiders, that's the killer. This was pointed out during Michael Moore's film documentary, "Bowling for Columbine", 2002.

Every place on Earth is owned by government except antarctica or some shit like that, what does it mean?U pay taxes for where u live too. Just because u own ur house and u dont 'own' ur block dont mean shit.Your block is where u grew up,where ur family is,where u have all ur memories, where u had all ur fun and fights, where u have all ur friends.Ofc you'll love ur block and everything about it. I’ve only been over here once when I lived in Chicago. The one thing the video can’t transfer is the feel of the complex. I had so many mixed emotions. This is the Oblock keef rap about but this also a place where people make their lives. The complex history of “ghettotization” made me pause and think. Who is really the monster, my poor socially, economically and politically disenfranchised people or the state?
