I know it's not cannon. But I like the idea that to make a zpm. It requires a star to be entirely drained of energy. Like how the destiny ship feeds on stars.

That’s a good idea. It make ZPMs essentially pocket Dyson spheres. It was also explained why the never found a means of creating them in Atlantis as they’d only be made on site at whatever star they used to generate the micro universe in the ZPM.

@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y I wouldn't be surprised if it takes at least a century to create one. With the longevity of the Ancients that wouldn't be an issue

@geography_guy335 yh or the reasouces needed where very hard to come by like a particular element only found in specific places and was out of reach during the war with the wraith

@@geography_guy335 my head cannon was, In order to make a zpm. The shell would be made first. Then the pocket of subspace would need to be created inside the shell. To do this an insanely large amount of energy would be needed. We know that the ancients. Knew how to draw energy from a star. So to make and charge a zpm. I bet it would require draining all the energy from at least 1 star.

Fun fact: The three ZPM's are needed to power Atlantis is a nod to the Steam Boy Anime which uses three ' Steam balls ' to allow the Steam Castle to fly.

I ways wondered if the ZPMs were rechargeable, and if not, why not?

I don't think so as its a artificially creative pocket of subspace time once it reaches maximum entropy it ceases to exist to generate power, so a new zpm is needed, I can imagine theres a method to recreate the depleted zpms pocket of subspace time but that knowledge only the ancients know probably be easy for them to just make a new one

Entropy ~ the energy inside is one temperature and once that happens no more energy can be provided - we speculated on the Stargate mmo forums ( 2010 that it held 10^33 to 10^42 power ) the Ancients/ Atlantians could make them so for them they were throwaway AA batteries.

@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y It would be such a waste if it wasn't able to be recharged SG-1 and Atlantis went through about a dozon of those things, as well as the wraith

@@dragonweyr44 From what I figure... No, actually. The pocket of subspace time costs far more to make than the visible 'ZPM shell'. Basically, candybar+wrapper.

@3:20 Humans have created a ZPM if you count the one Jack O'Neil built to get to the Asgard galaxy. Though he built that using the ancient knowledge accidentally downloaded into his brain.

@IRMacGuyver I'm not sure if that was a zero point energy power supply as it used liquid naquadah from a staff weapon and was one use and done, so I respectfully disagree with you there

@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y3 I've always understood it as needing the naquadah to get it started. Like a battery that starts a gasoline engine. Also aren't all ZPMs one use? I didn't think they could be recharged. Besides it sort of fried itself so it couldn't be used a second time. I'd just call that a flaw of being made from jerry rigged parts. We'd have to ask the writers I guess.

@IRMacGuyver a zpm harnesses zero point energy from a artificially created pocket of subspace space time contained within the crystal like a micro universe I a bottle the zpm has almost unlimited power if not used. but when used the zpms eventually run out of energy by the micro universe collapsing but the speed of this it dependent on how much energy you draw from it l. the zpm is a one use module yes but ita lasts a long time again depend on energy output atlantis runs on only zpms no naquada the only naquada seen used is the tauri generator that the brought with them to power the city when they don't have a zpm hope I answered your question

Why did they never find out where the ZPM factory was or at the very least use the "Ancient" database to learn how to make one. Maybe I missed that episode. One would think something that vital and important would have a record of how to be made.

@indianoutlaw5702 apparently In season 6, it would have covered a zpm manufacturing facility as well as another city ship, so we would have got it. if it continued

because it would be "too convenient" for story telling reasons. It would make a lot of sense from our perspective, but for a story... It would be vastly trivialize a lot of things. For example, they can just slap together a bunch of ZPM and dial destiny and sending them a bunch of ZPMs, and bring those people back to Earth. No need to find some "special planet" that can support the power requirements. Fly a routine supply mission between earth and atlantis witha daedalus class ship... heck why not fly atlantis between milky way and pegasus on a regular basis?

It's all about scarcity. If you could just recharge or make new zpms. Then there is no more stress for Atlantis. It would turn a zpm into a glowing AA battery.

@@madbr3991 I agree, however whenever they "needed" a ZPM or three, they suddenly "found" them.

So....a ZPM is only about 5 times as power as a Naquada generator? That means Atlantis could easily be powered by 15 naquada generators.... Makes you wonder why didn't they just do that instead of hunting for ZPM's

Because finding and refining naquadria to use on a naquada reactor is still very hard. They haven't exactly mass produced naquada reactors, yet. So, any that they have is generally considered for only specific uses. They did reach a point where Atlantis had backup naquada generators from Earth, but given how valuable they are and inefficient the pwoer conversion vs using ZPMs to directly power the base, they remained just as as backup power source.

Naquada is not found on earth. The episode with Unos race and the mine; so far as we know it is earth's sole source. Mean mining production is fixed. How can earth demand increase in production even if earth needs to go up. Negotiation was one sided in the episode. Add the earth ship lost to the Ori and Wraith wars. That naquada is lost and not removable and then naquada bombs are used up too. How many years do you need to create these 15 generators? 30+ year, maybe? Decisions do we build ships, bombs, or generators with naquada earth can get.

@@SCI-FI-NERD-DRMCK4Y ah okay first so you know how you talking to i m lanakayo (my wifes account) i have one suggestion towards future videos. Stargate an ftl the imagery was perfect, if you do units in the future i would suggest using some cinema views from the mod also. You know to link this channel to your gaming channel. Another idea would be a lore accurate playtrough ( thou i dont know if its possible withe the ai). I wish you all the very best for your project, not much stargate channels out here

@@DieSuper-Influencer ah with eaw lore accurate in the scenario I played would be tough as in the show they only had the main hero ships so it would be quite impossible with units it maybe some what possible with planets but again you have to take the planet next to you in order to get to the next so hoping from one side to the other would work but I get where you are coming from I do believe thought that there is a galatic conquest that follows the show so I have to check, i do plan on doing a few skirmishes with the diffrent faction land and space to showcase the diffremt units so stsy tuned for them thank you for all your feedback and I hope you enjoy all my feedback of I do believe I have linked this channel in my gaming channel I even did a update video showcasing the new channel for anyone interested 😀
