something I learned recently, you can check all teammates items on the scoreboard which is insanely useful

I stopped playing ranked 2 months ago, was stuck in Divine 1 because I was so toxic and my behavior score dropped to 5k. Last couple of weeks I've been just watching pro players, videos from you and Dubu and I realized what's the problem with my gameplay (besides the toxic mentality, of course). It was playing on automatism. I approached every single of my games the same way. Same items, same playstyle, literally always. Now, I've learned to adjust according to enemy team. They have aggressive carry, I start with boots. Their carry is passive, I take more dmg items to harass him. I've started playing ranked again last night, won 4 in row with pos 5 Treant, 2 of those games were comebacks. Every single game I played and itemized differently. So a big thank you for this video, this is another segment I have to improve.

I love this video. It relieves me to remember that we all go through the "play awkward games until you acquire X habit". Cause when you get used to something new, it feels so good that it makes all those awkward moments worth it!

For sure! I actually really enjoy being totally lost and learning a new game. It's one thing I like about Dota, I always feel like I'm learning a bit more and improving. But it's still a bit different to be completely confused in a new game haha

something I started paying attention to recently is minute 5,10 and so on. And not only because it's a day or night change but also it's a catapult wave, which is really important when you play against summon heroes

Make sure you comment for the algorithm. Great video!

Incredibly useful video! I like this spontaneous format, the scripted videos are much more insightful with the visual explanations however: like the Lane Matchups video with the spectre vs lc undying slides. Those explained the concept really well.

Thanks for your videos. I actually play AoE2 a lot as well, and part of your "how to practice" also applies there! A lot of the early game in AoE2 has a "build order" with specific timings like when to pull a boar, or how many villagers you should have by minute x, how much food you should have by minute y to advance to the next Age, should you put villagers on wood or gold instead, etc... Back to Dota: One bit of info I use more often, since I play a lot of pub no-voice chat games, is the ultimate marker below the character portraits. It helps to coordinate with rowdy teammates on a game where big ults impact fights, like having a Faceless or a Tidehunter. I'm guessing on more coordinated, ranked games that info should come naturally with voice comms though, but yeah. I feel playing heroes like Wisp/Io and Spectre helped me get better map awareness. I'm working on the timer since with new runes and their placings everything changed again, but I feel that's a matter of memorization. AoE2 gave me good timer watching habits.

Your videos are fantastic, thank you, you explain everything so well! As a new player i found many youtube videos on the topic i research to be overwhelming, throwing you at the middle of something, trying to explain some concept while 10000 other things are going on at the same time)

Great video! I will definitely try some unranked games and stare at the mini map as much as possible! I do think being able to take in all the information available to you is a massive skill and is highly correlated to MMR.

Yep mini map is the most important think. I would say the best hard supports are going to do this the most but it is up to everyone.

Very useful, I definitely auto pilot at this point it's so ingrained into my playing it's hard to consciously think to look at minimap or enemy items etc.

I got it from Reddit. But shifting the minimap early when you just start could be GAME CHANGER! I will try it out.

If you click alt you can see ally hp's. You can use this to heal teammates if you play treant

Bro, I have stopped playing Dota coz I was fostrated, I stumbled at your channel by mistake, I liked it so much coz of two things, 1 it is all about support Pos 4 & 5 (I only play those) 2 you talk a lot that is great coz u give a lot of small info that help me know what are you thinking at specific second so I know what to do when I'm facing the same. A great help would be a video about how to itemize early 10 minutes comparing to facing enemy items & heroes types. Example: one of the followers said something about passive & aggressive carries, I only play few Pos 4 & 5 heroes (cm dazzle ogre wd jakiro grime) so with such a limited pool of heroes it is crucial to be able to read opponents items and heroes type and itemize accordingly, plz hellpppppppp. :)

Two things I've done that have made me have better minimap awareness. - play pos 4 and put up a deep ward at start of game and try to snipe every courier - play a hero with a global

I think there's actually a eye movement tracker thing on the market. Maybe you can record a few games and find out how much you're looking at the minimap each game. Could be worth a few videos' .

I want to one day! Unfortunately, they're a bit expensive for just one type of video right now. But I think it would be a really cool type of video and would like to get one eventually

What if you've people who are trying new heroes out in ranks? I met a BB who doesn't even know that his passive lets him to take reduced damage and emit quills without using mana(2nd skill) and that may eventually kill the enemy hitting BB...
