I own this cassette the rainbow design on my XC with Deore 12s GS and its been past a year already and its still working great.
@Speedy.V9 ай бұрын
I have the same cassette. The main issue is that you have to clamp it down real tight. After having it torqued down i had to tighten it up some more. Great buy ans weight of 398g. I mainly use it on my xc bike.
@thewreckingball11509 ай бұрын
I actually wore down a specific tooth on the cassette so it slips. But it is great for non Ebike applications.

Your chain was skipping because it has wear (AKA stretch). Drive train wears together and if you change one of the three you can have problems. Try a new chain and chain ring with the new cassette.
@thewreckingball11509 ай бұрын
You think a new chain ring will help my cassette? Chain definitely , however you can visibly see where the teeth are worn down. I also put a new chain on with the cassette.
@red5rich9 ай бұрын
@@thewreckingball1150, If you keep the chain ring you could have chain suck (stays stuck to the ring when it should be releasing it). Change it all out and the tolerance/spacing will all start off at the same level. I run my drive train past where my chain checker can measure :) I use a Garbaruk cassette and oval chain ring and a Xo1 chain so I'm going to run it for as long as I can and it still shifts great.

That kinda gave me an idea about a video. A light bike really does feel good so I should compare 5 lbs of body weight vs 5 lbs of bike weight to see if it’s all in my head
@daniellarson30689 ай бұрын
@@thewreckingball1150 I doubt if the 5 lbs is in your head. If like me, it's on the gut. 5 lbs of fat at 3500 calories a lb. So 5 X 3500 = 17,500 (Body calories are actually kcalories.) 1 cal = 0.001162 Wh 17,500 X 1000 X .001162 Wh / calorie = 20,335 Wh Like a battery. There are 31,000 kilo calories in a gallon of gasoline. 17,500 kilo calories X 1 gallon of gasoline / 31,000 calories = .565 gallons of gas If you are in Canada .565 X 3.785 liters / gallon = 2.14 liters of gasoline Those extra 5 lbs may not make you faster, but just maybe you can burn them to go further. It's just a thought.

I had one branded ztto but gold finish, with a sumc chain both from AliExpress but I recently switched it for a 10-45 XT because I didn't have a HG body for my "new" set of used wheels, it didn't have time to deteriorate much since it was on a hardtail I mostly lend to guests but I noticed had some bits eaten on some of the tooths, for the very low price it's not that bad sunrace alloy cassette are pretty soft too...

The idea of the hardness test was genius but implementation needs more attention. Assuming of being able to replicate the load consistently, you'll need a microscope, or any means for high magnification, to observe variation in the indentation. This way perhaps a difference can be spotted.

@thewreckingball11509 ай бұрын
I’ll give trw a try do you have a link, also not a gravel cassette
@kobakakhidze1009 ай бұрын
no, because I myself live in China, although I think that other manufacturers try to make cassettes as light as possible, it is by weight that their products can be sold (there is a SEQ 11-28 cassette weighing 150g, for example), therefore, they are intended for road or gravel bikes. For MTB, I would pay attention to those cassettes that are made of either steel or 7075 aluminum, for example Sunshine makes these, but they are very expensive, around $250, but they weigh 367 grams (they also produce similar cassettes for SRAM in iol slick design). Big brands do not produce such cassettes, but simply combine small 7075 chainrings with large steel chainrings to reduce the weight a little (from 650 to 450 grams).

🤔 Assuming you maintain your bike (and chain) wet conditions really won't accelerate wear. UNLESS... you don't wipe off the water/dirt/mud/grit etc., then lube the chain after each ride in wet conditions. I suspect the premature wear is a product of a combination of variables instead.

This cassette is not intended for e-bike use. There is much greater load on an e-bike cassette, that's why it has worn much faster than on the regular bike.

Have you tried the Spedao 12 speed cassette ? Its just as light, but it's better built (by Lexon). I have 3 of them in test and all work very well. I dont have an ebike so I didnt test it on that. But these super light cassettes are not for heavy E-bikes anyways, you need special cassette for that because of the higher loads.
