Sokka isn't sexist and sarcastic anymore, Katara is not motherly, Aang behaves way too serious for a goofy 12yo, Zuko didn't say the word honor even once. These character traits gave the show it's fame. It's like remaking the Witcher and making Geralt's hair brown and not white.

@therealajzaini they didn't have time for all the individual spirit episodes, so they tried to mush them together so we can see all the spirits. Also the spirit world is pretty weird in ATLA, so it's not thay wrong that this can't happen...but I loved they brought up the mother of faces which is actually canon and comes in book 4 of the comic which wasn't was made into anime (remeber zuko asked ozai about his mother after becoming fire lord? This book deals with that... spoiler: his mother request this spirit (the mother of faces) to give her a new face and identity.

It just made me feel like i have to stop and understand what's going on before pressing play again. I understood all the reference they tried to mush together. Just it could've written a lot better. Maybe it was because I watched it as a veteran fan of ATLA. Maybe new watchers might not feel what i feel.

@@therealajzaini I think people are way too hard on this show but the main criticism I agree with is mushing multiple plots together into one episode. Seems clear to me they tried to fit in all of the important stuff from book 1 while lacking the time to do it properly. I think giving them more episodes will be the best fix for this. Hopefully Netflix or whoever makes that decision will see that give it to them.

I love how they have enriched Zuko and Iroh and their relationship in this Adaptation. Even reframing Zuko's Crew development from The Storm to instead be the division that he stood up for not wanting them to get slaughtered - and their their recognition at the end for him is just.. so moving, and really highlights what makes Zuko such a good Firelord by the end of his story. Both him, and Aang (and most of the other Gaang tbf) are really good examples of being in a world that tells them how things are meant to be and should be, but they show that a different path can work - especially with those who are strong in their motivations and convictions to see it through. The fact that they are pushing this and laying the seeds for it from the start (to then pay-off by the end with the Ozai fight in Book 3) is reaaaaally beautiful to see.

I was full on tears streaming down by face at Lu Ten's funeral, when Zuko reached out the way he did, but then when he sat down with him too instead of just walking away like everyone else, I actually bawled a little. They really enriched the relationship between the two in this, regardless of what anyone else says about the show.

Prince Zuko gave up everything as he cares not only about the Fire Nation but the people as well and him speaking out in the War Room about the 41st to then the people of the 41st learning why they are there is just a powerful scene from his crew not respecting him to then his crew finally understanding they are alive because of what he did as a fan of the animated show I felt like Netflix did a great job with this and the actors doing a great job tapping into the characters to live action did a excellent job and I hope to see it continue.

I continued to watch that tv series only because of Zuko and his uncle. When he stayed with him in one of his most tragic moments, he became like the son he lost and when Zuko had to go to the mission to find the Avatar, his uncle went with him, because he doesn't want to lose again a son and even the words that everything he needs is on that boat shows that nothing unless his beloved nephew who was like his son was left on that world full with war and pain

Always love Zuko in the animation and now love him more in this series. Dallas Liu brings him to life. I enjoy the live action because of him specially his fights! And his facial expression, just by looking at his eyes, feels so real for his anger, proud, sad and frustration. Thank you for this video so I don’t need to revisit the LA just to follow and enjoy Zuko part again and again, and have to skip or fast forward many scenes 😂 It summarize beautifully his arc in this session. I hope they give him more screen time in the coming S2 and S3. Even for Aang, the best scenes are when he has interaction with Zuko. So yeah, more Zuko more enjoyable for me to watch the LA.
