Honestly, I think your criticism about the climax with the Lady is a valid point. Especially given her tall skinny appearance, it should have implied that she was withholding her own hunger to maintain her composure and control. If the bossfight was more about her revealing how starved she's made herself and showing the facade falling apart, that might have worked better imo. Not to mention how Six; whose given into hunger is the one to undo her.

Every time I see someone talk about this game, I want to hear an essay on Typoman: a puzzle platformer about the power of words.

I haven't heard of that game before, I'll have to check it out sometime

LOVE little nightmares, thank you for this! I feel like in video games especially fidelity is used to judge a games quality and games like this really slip through the cracks and deserve to be celebrated! Its not perfect but its clear visual language and intentional gameplay means it stands the test of time a lot more than games who had high fidelity at the time.

Lmao when you where talking about depth perception problems i was like "Reminds me of when i used to play little big planet" and then you compared them. Fairly sure mine is just a case of false memory but still a funny coincidence.

Do you think you will also be covering Reanimal when it releases? While not in the Little Nightmares series, it will be made by Tarsier as well.
@ZuldimYT9 күн бұрын
Probably. It looks really good, and I'm interested in whatever Tarsier does next. That game still seems really far out though, so I can't say I've really planned ahead that far.

I have an odd question that I don’t know where to ask but I feel like you are the right person to talk about the Alan Wake/Control connections. Do you have any plans for anything like that?
@ZuldimYT5 күн бұрын
What an out of nowhere question, but yes, I'm in the early stages of planning a Remedyverse retrospective for after the Little Nightmares videos. I hadn't announced it yet, so I'm impressed. 0_0

To be fair, I don't think the perception and surveillance stuff was a "theme", just part of the visual worldbuilding. The recurring eye motif is there to help set in that feeling of just "being watched"; the very first level is literally a prison for other children, and Six needs to avoid being seen by any monsters lest she be instantly snatched up and killed. It's kinda like _Bendy and The Ink Machine_ where bright gold coloring just represents that universe's life force/soul energy; it's not part of the overall primary theme, BECAUSE it's just a fine part of the wider lore. *ESSAY AHEAD:* I disagree about another point: *the Lady DOES tie into the theme of hunger. It's just that the Lady's "hunger" is **_different_** from everybody else's.* As far as we can tell, the Lady has _THE BEST _*_BEST_* spot in life over everyone else. It's the Lady who has dominion over this hellish place, it's the Lady who bosses everyone else around with her spooky magic, and it's the Lady who keeps the best living quarters with the best furniture and the best clothes. The Lady has ALL the practicalities needed for a comfy life above everybody else, but she's still so greedy and hungry for perfection that she can't stand her own imperfect face and goes out of her way to chase Six once the Lady discovers her. Think about it: *Six is just **_one_** escaped child* who really should not pose any threat to the Lady's operations on the Maw. If the Lady is so powerful that even other adult monsters bow down to her, then a tiny kid like Six shouldn't even be worth the time/energy for the Lady to personally chase her down. She could just ring up one of her minions to come up to the Lady's Quarters to catch Six. But instead, the Lady is so hungry for total perfection that she _CAN'T_ tolerate a singe escaped child and personally uses her magic power to chase Six in her fancy quarters. But the Lady's refusal to be satisfied with everything she has is what *_directly_* leads to Six finding the magic mirror and defeating the Lady. If the Lady had noticed Six in her quarters and just dismissed her as a harmless little child, then Six would've had no reason to fight back against her and The Lady would still be alive. *_TLDR_* Just as the Guests are a reminder that Six's hunger is not unique and applies to other types of people, so too is the Lady a reminder that hunger can be spiritual and not just physical. The Lady _LOOKS_ like she has her physical hunger in her control (she has a healthy bodily physique, not starving or fat), but it turns out that the Lady just transferred her hunger from a physical desire for food into a spiritual desire for perfection. It only feels "out of place" because it's such a stark reminder that you don't need to be hungry for food like an animal to still have a hole in your being that you cannot fill.

Theres a lot of people who are kinda cynical over Little Nightmares 3 due to it not being made by the original devs while Tarsier themselves are making their own new project "Reanimal", but I genuinely hope both are good. I don't really like the idea that two games of the same genre _always_ need to be contrasted and opposed to one another, I just want this to be a "Holy Shit! *Two* Cakes!" situation.
@ZuldimYT3 күн бұрын
I'm with you on that. I wouldn't necessarily say I'm expecting LN3 to be good, but I'm keeping cautiously optimistic about it. Supermassive Games have made good games before, so I think it's possible it'll surprise people.
