It's called workout pain effect in the settings. It can be turned off.

Workouts are for LOOOOOOSERSSSS… unless it’s late night and Zwift is so dead you have nothing else to do but a workout for bonus XP 🤪 They are basically a last resort if there’s no racing action!

Yeah I didn't really want to watch this, doesn't make for great viewing and I don't enjoy doing them either.
