Hi.
This is the second part of my full service. Please see other videos to change the engine oil and filter.
This will also be the video I will refer people back to when needing to remove the seat, fuel tank & air box.
Thanks for watching.

At some point, a chain and sprocket change would be a great video. Buying or recommending a chain splitter / joiner etc.. Keep up the good work..

Hi. Thanks for the kind words. I always worry that my videos are long but I like to get the details in. That's a good shout. My chain isn't great, its only done 4000 miles but is the original one so a little rusty. The front sprocket is a mare to get off. Had to buy a 1 metre extension bar! & put wood between the wheel spoke and swing arm. I've started videoing for Ulez Euro 3 test and saving money to do a radial 320mm big brake conversion. Dosent need it with the Brembo master as the brakes are mega but should look well cool but factory, hopefully lol. Thanks for watchin. Tim

I second this, i have the same bike as your old yellow one. Was thinking of dropping two teeth on the rear sprocket, would love to hear thoughts on it
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 Жыл бұрын
Hi. If your just looking to put two teeth on the rear, make sure you have enough chain length. If you haven't stretched your chain to around the middle markings the chain won't fit. Also on the J2 where I had -1 front +3 rear I had to take the rear wheel off, put the chain round the sprocket, then mount the rear wheel and put axle in. If you put the rear wheel on then try and fit the chain, even with the wheel pushed forward there wasn't enough slack. Also remember your speedo will read incorrectly so your need to buy a healtech speedo healer. Hope that helps.

Great video! Thanks man! I’ll do my own servicing from now on. When I got to the K&N air filter, I discovered that the shop that worked on my bike last, put the filter in BACKWARDS!!!…. even though it says in BIG LETTERS This Side Up!!!! SMH!!!

Thanks for the message. Glad you enjoyed the video and was of help. Just give the k&n a really good wash both ways through. Make sure on the, this side up, there are no big insects that can now be pushed into the carbs. Thanks again Tim.

Hi. That's for the message. That's great news. So during March I was filming the Ulez video but unfortunately the Go Pro corrupted the files. I've had loads of issues with Go Pro and from Dec 2022 to June 2023 I've had 3 replacements and is faulty again and they wanna send a fourth. I've asked my credit card company for a refund as Go Pro refuse. Anyway unfortunately after filming I've been unwell so still not done the video. I've currently got conjunctivitis and can't see well so hopefully September I'll do a video. Now I know that's late but I have alot of friends who have said they ain't gonna get their bike tested and just pay! Crazy but hopefully a video showing how easy it is may help alot of people. Again congrats on getting it through. All the best and thanks for watching .Tim P.s I hate Khan!!!! #moneygrabbingrobber!

Super glad you made this video and that I watched it before pulling the trigger on parts. I was about to order a new “INTAKE-SILENCER” from an OEM parts place for $68 plus shipping as the rubber canister portion of it on my J1 is crumbling apart and I thought it may be contributing to some of the issues the bike has. Do I just remove it and everything connected to it and then block off the hole it went to on the right the airbox?
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 Жыл бұрын
Yeah so if tour talking about, what we call the secondary air intake then yes. Pull that off with all that is connected. The two tubes on top of the engine block off, also the two tubes that come from the middle of the carbs block off, plus the plastic part that goes onto of the carb inlets that hold the trumpets where the airbox screws down, that plastic part needs to be blocked off underneath. This link to another video I talk about it. Go to 2 mins in the video and show where to block off. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqLKiKWHirx8mqs

Love the channel, I’ve got an “01 in blue. I want to get a gear indicator. Do you happen to know which one I need to get? I can’t find anything nor do I have any idea how to install it.
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 Жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks for the comment. Healtech gear indicator is the one to get. Simple ish fitting. Your need to remove tank and fairing screen. Under the tank, just infront of the fuel pump area is a connection which the healtech just loops into. The hardest bit is there is then a single wire that needs to connect to your revs indicator/pick up wire. You can channel neatly up the side of the carbs, through the frame upto the back of the display/speedo/dash/clocks. Disconnect the dash and push the wire neatly through the rubber seal. They supply a little splice connector which if memory is correct goes to the blue/white wire, this is the rev pick up but please check this as I done it a while ago and would need to look at wire diagram. Once fitted it just needs calibrating which is simple on a paddock stand. You can choose your colour display on purchase so if you want red,white,blue,yellow make your choice. I buy all my healtech stuff from here: www.bikersdiscountstore.co.uk/gear-indicators-intruments/healtech-electronics/gipro-x-type-g2-gear-indicator-shift-light-pd-42.php I have no affiliate with them and always paid full price. Any questions fire them over. Tim

@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 Жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for the question. This is tough. The obvious is paperwork for service and mot. I'd personally want to start the bike from cold and see how it starts. Should start on choke with a push of the button and a little throttle. Once warmed a little take off choke and leave to tick over till about 80oc. Even if the guy wants to start it you can watch, doesn't have to be you. Once upto 80oc or more turn it off, wait about 30sec to a minute and try to restart. May need a little throttle but if it doesn't restart it may need the valve clearences checking/replacing. Cost is around £350 to have a garage do this. General maintenance really is the key. These bikes are really easy to do General maintenance on. Do you have any mechanical knowledge or looking to do any work on the bike yourself and where are you looking to buy the bike from? Ebay or alike?

@@kawasakizx6r813 Hi thanks for replying, i have a zxr 400 right now as my first bike, so far i cleaned the carbs and air filter, changed brake pads, oil, oil filter and spark plugs. Currently im living in Greece and i found a Kawasaki ZX6R J2 from 2003 with 18.000 kilometers going for 2000€ with aftermarket turn signals, a license plate tidy up and full system exhaust(no name). Should i settle for that?
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 Жыл бұрын
Having the experience of the zxr400 will be a great help. Your be use to starting with a choke and using the idle screw to adjust the tick over. Anytime buying a used vehicle its a risk, a calculated risk where you look at a bike and take all the information you have and weight it up with what could go wrong. No one will be able to say if the engine is gonna blow up or clutch gonna go. These zx6r do seem to be pretty bullet proof. Yes things can go wrong but they are cheap and easy to work on. Prices are all over the place and I can't comment if that's good or bad value in Greece. The full system could cause flat spots, however if you have stripped a carb and cleaned it, rejetting is a piece of cake. Seems low mileage and it will be about condition which will be down to your opinion. I love them and think that they are a fantastic sports bike that is super easy to work on. Go look at it and your know if it's the right one as they talk to you!!. The yellow J2 I had is one of the best bikes I've ever owned and that had 7 owners 23,000 miles and a little of a rough life but when I collected it and rode it, honestly it spoke. Just wonderful bikes.

Hi fella wicked videos, looking at one of these soon, are they more comfy than a gixer? That killed my back and heard these are more upright? Is maintenance on carbs more hassle than Fi? Cheers!
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment bud. Yes more comfortable. Maintenance on carbs and FI are pretty similar. I like carbs because I can do it all myself. I can honestly say this is the best bikes I've owned. If you watch the other videos your see the yellow J2 which I've just sold but spent more time on. Both have been super comfortable but I've really set them up for me. I've raised the rear and dropped the yoke to take pressure off my back and onto my wrists as I've a back and neck issue. The great thing is you can really taylor it to your style. Have a watch of my four year review on a J2. I go through the whole bike, performance, brakes, handling. Any questions fire them over. Thanks Tim.

@@kawasakizx6r813 thanks for the reply, just watched the yellow one, really helpful sounds like we are very similar I have slipped l4 l5 and sold my gixer and got a gsx1250 but that is mind numbing boring hence me looking at an older 636 i want a silver! so I can enjoy riding it, can I ask how tall are you? I know ergonomics is relative!

I'm 5'11. 12 stone in kit Honestly the best bikes I ridden. Absolutely love it and that's the reason I looked for as low mileage one as possible. My A1P is like a new bike. Brembo master, sbs pads and braided lines are essential if you have ridden gsxr/r1 anything like that. The Maxton is over the top. The upgrade to a 2021 rear shock is awesome and worth doing. I actually preferred that on the road compared to the Maxton but I'm now spending time doing a street set up and then something for track. Get on the forums and bang any questions over. If you need help with your search for a decent one or if I'm local and you want me to run over it let me know. Tim.

@@kawasakizx6r813 thanks dude, maybe a silly question but are the ergos of the J1 and A1p the same? Ie clip ons etc and is it best to hold out for the a1p or if find a clean j1 to go for it?
@kawasakizx6r813
@kawasakizx6r813 Жыл бұрын
That's a tough one. So if your bothered about a little extra power then get an A1P. Standard at the rear your get about 100-105bhp, J2 will give you 95-100bhp. However my Yellow J2 was quicker than a standard A1P but I'd spent alot on it setting it up and full race system. On the same dyno both have been through the same process and mine were 106.5bhp on J2 and 112.4bhp on the A1P. Ridding round town I personally find no difference however again I changed the sprockets which I'd recommend on any 600cc imo. If a super clean J2 came up with super low mileage I would get that. I really only noticed the difference on the track, Wednesday just gone where I had the A1P at Brands for the first time. If you find to much pressure on your back you can lower them or raise them. I like to be more perched over so raise the back and drop the yoke. What I love about them is they are a real world bike. Fast enough to have fun but slow enough to feel in control. My R1 was like hyperspace over 9k and I felt out of control. They are super easy to work on and defo feel a bound. Light enough to throw around but heavy enough not to be blown from lane to lane on the motorway. Just great bikes. There is a Red A1P with 16,000 miles for £2400ono on ebay which I think is the best buy at the moment. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115767795446?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=XK7PaQlGT3S&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=vcuATcjbTK6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

So in the UK they switched to fuel injection in 2003. With fuel injection the fuel pump and filter are in the tank. If your bike is carburettor it will be where I showed, if its fuel injection it will be in the tank. Hope that helps. Tim.
