Yess Ike Turner did a lot of horrible things but NO ONE can deny this mans talent and his contributions to music. Truly a talented man and anyone who denies that is just hating...

B.B. King said Ike Turner was the best bandleader he ever saw. Ike played piano on his early records. Ike was also a talent scout for Sun Records and Modern Records. He discovered a lot of blues musicians like Bobby Bland and Howlin' Wolf. Ike helped start a lot of careers. He relocated his entire band from St. Louis to Los Angeles. His contributions outweigh his vices. Towards the end of his life he made amends with a few of his ex-wives. Even Tina's sister Alline said he was cheerful and friendly.

Ike was a pioneer. I'm glad he received accolades acknowledging his contributions while he was alive. He loved music and continued to perform until the end. He won a Grammy the year he died. Ike was a pionner - musically, that I accept. He was a musical genius. As for his treatment of women and the people who worked for him, I have ZERO praise for him in that scenario. There is no doubt he was controlling, nasty-tempered, and physically abusive. Ike was one of the founding fathers of Rock and Roll. He and Tina both used each other to get out of St Louis. He needed a dynamic singer and she wanted to be in his band. Ike can't take credit for her natural talent but he gave her a platform to shine. For all his faults he was a talented musician and bandleader. No one is perfect but he surely wasn't the devil. People should keep in mind that the movie is only loosely based on Tina's book so the writers had creative freedom to fabricate scenes for entertainment. Ike and Tina were together nearly 20 years, they created a music legacy together. Even after her solo success people still associate them together. They're inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame together as a duo for a reason.

Ringo Starr, John Lennon, Miles Davis, James Brown, Al Green and etc were all abusive drug addicts at one point yet their artistry is still respected. Ike was a pioneer in music and deserves to be recognized. It's nice to see him honored for his talents instead of being bashed as usual. He had his faults but he had good attributes such as taking care of his friends, Little Richard said Ike gave him money to prevent his home from being foreclosed. He took Tina in when she was a teen mom with nowhere to go. She even thanks him in her book I, Tina. He was wrong for they way he treated her but she survived and thrived. At the end of the day they raised a family and are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame together so they're forever intertwined.

S E2333 That's Right !!! He electrfied the blues. The Rolling Stones named their band after one of his songs. A friend told me that his father was a close friend to Muddy. I didn't believe him. So he brought some pictures over to my house as proof. They was pictures of his Dad and Muddy together. I put the pictures in a wooden cabinet. I was busy and I didn't take the time to look at the pictures. That very night my house burnt to the ground. Those pictures was worth money. I never even got to look at them.

Ike was a great musician. He had drug and anger issues, but I am sure he saw that he was wrong. I think the Tina Turner movie was not a real portrayal. I think a lot of it was to sell books, but I still Tina!!!! She is my idol!!! And hey the girl made poor choices and so did Ike. It takes two to make or break a marriage.

Tina is still Ike bashing until this day.... whatever happened is over.... Ike deserved forgiveness like the rest of us... he made the first Rock and Roll record and he discovered and mentored the Queen of Rock &Roll Tina plus gave her that name and created her persona...that’s the part that can’t be taken from Mr. Ike Turner.... and that movie was fiction and full of untruths... too late to make good because Ike has passed......

So true! Ike was a damaged man. He did a lot of wrong, but he lived his life and dealt with his demons the best way he knew how. He was a brilliant artist who gave Tina her stardom while he squandered his own. I just hate we never really gave him a chance to make amends for the wrong he did. RIP Mr. Turner. You'll always be a legend to those who know and respect real musical genius!

If a woman treats a man like shit you never whine about "Two sides of the story" But immediately take the guys side and feel sorry for him while he might have done his fair share of pulling disgraceful stunts on her that made her retaliate that way. Sure there is two sides of every story but its still its no excuse to abuse another human being. He even said in a interview he slapped her to make her tell him whats wrong when she was sad and tried to hide her feelings. Ike was also on drugs and alcohol and those people are living time bombs that go off any time even when you walk on eggs shells 24/7.

Ike went thru hell bro!The act of abuse was uncalled 4, yet most married couples do have their upside down. He endured all the media humiliations and so forth. He had drugs problem which made him look mo' of low life (Junkie). His speech, motorskills & judgement sort of ended up being not so convincing, bt we cannt kick the man when he is down, thanx to Babby King and the who acknowledge his contribution and innovation into rock & roll music.

He has a look a like doing a Tina redition. Every song he does is like what he'd done with Tina. He said during an interview he regrets how he treated Tina and his kids. Tina stated she hated him until he died, after his death she forgave him because she realized he was a sick and mentally ill man. That's deep when someone hates you until you die. Most have been more abuse that being admitted. People are delusional when there's guilt and regret, but all he deserved a second chance. Forgiveness is what counts.

Tina was bitter because Ike didn't love her. Tina was a Buddhist, one of the main tenants is forgiveness because it breaks the soul tie. She held onto that. But Tina hated being black, so she went to countries where she could pretend. Ike at least was real.

Ike repented. He wrote a 5 page letter to Tina. He was a bad man to her but he was also a country like Tina. Childhood doesn't mean safety in the South, being black. Ike was furious to grow up that way. When an adult, he sadly became an abuser. But he was a lamb to the slaughter to the film company, by signing his image rights away for a pittance as he was needing cash and they knew it.
