The FOUNDER of the Original FAMOUS FLAMES singing group, and the man credited with the discovery of JAMES BROWN, BOBBY BYRD was inducted posthumously with the rest of THE FAMOUS FLAMES (Bobby Bennett, "Baby Lloyd" Stallworth, and Johnny Terry), into THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME in 2012.

Uh, what a entertainer. I just found him. You know why? He was performing together with James Brown the SM-Hit in a TV show in Italy, back in 1971. One year after I was born. Thank you very much for sharing.

He DISCOVERED James Brown !!! Bobby was the FOUNDER and ORIGINAL leader of THE FAMOUS FLAMES...The group with which JAMES BROWN first became famous ...You can see BOBBY and the other Flames, BOBBY BENNETT and LLOYD STALLWORTH with James on THE T.A.M.I. Show clips here on KZbin. BOBBY was inducted with the rest of the FAMOUS FLAMES, including JOHNNY TERRY , into the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME in 2012...some 27 years AFTER Famous Flames lead singer James Brown's controversial SOLO induction.

THE FAMOUS FLAMES were a SINGING GROUP..NOT BACKUP MUSICIANS. (contrary to popular belief) That means people like MACEO PARKER, JABO STARKS, MELVIN PARKER, ST. CLAIR PINCKNEY, CLYDE STUBBLEFIELD, FRED WESLEY, and other JB band members were NOT The FAMOUS FLAMES . The FLAMES were: JAMES BROWN, BOBBY BYRD, BOBBY BENNETT, "BABY LLOYD" STALLWORTH, and JOHNNY TERRY. The Famous Flames were retroactively inducted alongside lead singer JAMES BROWN. The JB Band has NOT been inducted (not YET, anyway.)

You are clearly correct. Ppl do think the Famous Flames were his band, but they were singers.

No Bobby Byrd, no James Brown. This man never got the credit he deserved. Some of Brown's greatest hits, were written or cowritten by Byrd. But the record companies refused to give Byrd credit on the label. Brown didn't complain because he was a greedy bastard and this has been well documented.

Although there may have been a short-lived attempt to assign the Famous Flames' name to instrument-playing JB bandmembers, the fact is that The Famous Flames were originally , and will ALWAYS historically be remembered as, a SINGING GROUP. Which is why the BAND'S name was finally changed to the JB's. This fact was verified by James HIMSELF in an 1982 interview on the David Letterman Show, where he said, and I quote: "The FLAMES is a SINGING GROUP. The BAND is the JB's" Click on THIS LINK to see that interview: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3u7eoeCndetgNk The Flames were a part of James Brown's R&B Era, when he was known as "Mr. Dynamite". Not his Funk Era, when James was known as "The Godfather". Actually , JAMES BROWN HIMSELF was a Famous Flame. He was the group's Lead Singer. And, to see the REAL Famous Flames, click on THESE LINKS: 1) www.bsnpubs.com/king/flames.jpg 2) kzbin.info/www/bejne/naPFgqmVipmmjqs 3) kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6C1ZHR-oNFse6s 4) facebook.com/famousflamesgroup/ 5) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Famous_Flames

Also, further proof can be found on The Famous Flames' Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction page: Only FOUR names are listed as inductees: BOBBY BYRD, BOBBY BENNETT, LLOYD STALLWORTH, and JOHNNY TERRY. The SINGERS. Not, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Jabo Starks, Sinclair Pinckney, or any other JB Bandmember. The only reason why Bobby Byrd was the only Flame there, was because all of the OTHER members of The Flames QUIT due to salary disputes with James Brown. Check out my 2012 interview with Famous Flame BOBBY BENNETT for GOLDMINE MAGAZINE to get the REAL STORY: www.goldminemag.com/blogs/bobby-bennett-the-last-of-the-famous-flames-speaks-of-james-brown-more And , check out the names of the inducted members of the Famous Flames on their Rock Hall Website: www.rockhall.com/inductees/famous-flames And The Famous Flames Official Facebook Page HERE: facebook.com/thefamousflamesbysandibennett/
