You're smarter than a lot of young guys out there. You at least know and respect yours. and the cars, limits. I've owned a Z51 2006 Corvette and also driven a Z06 and the Z06 is a different beast altogether. Even with a lot of driving experience I managed to get the Z06 sideways at an intersection just by giving a bit to much throttle...Crazy machine!

I have a Viper GTS as well. The C6Z is more refined, and a good looking car for sure, but the level of attention they get are in two different leagues. The GTS is just much more exotic and draws a crowd everywhere.

If your looking for a vette and aren't sure about buying a base model or Zo6 (might have a little too much for you to handle), then you should buy a Grand sport instead. A GS is the bridge between a base model and a Zo6.. The GS has wider fenders, tires, better suspension, and a dry sump oil system....

BigKittenGaming Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with the z06. I do have a lot of respect for that v10 though and it revs like crazy. z06 is a ton lighter though, same hp and can be modified pretty easily and is pretty quick stock.

How is the ride quality for the C6 Z06? I have heard it is considerably stiffer than even the Z51 in the base Corvette. How much did he end up paying for it? Low mileage clean examples from 2006-2008 seem to be running about 40k. I have heard that the first year of the Z06 (2006) has the highest occurrences of the valve problem the owner was discussing.

+victor bozzo As I mentioned in the video, the Z06 suspension is noticeably firmer and less compliant over bumps vs the base C6. The car was right around 40k if I'm not mistaken, hence the comparison I made to an older Viper for the same money.

I really feel bad for people that buy Zs, or any American sports car for that matter, new. The depreciation on these cars is just insane. I believe C6Zs shipped out new in the 70s and 80s? But now you can have a clean one with relatively low miles for 35k. It's bad for the guy who buys one new with plans to trade up in a few years but man is it great for the working class man that wants to buy an insanely quick car lol.

Don't feel bad for me. We had a blast flying back to the museum to pick up our baby and drive it back to Kalif. And now that it is 10years old (75K miles) I did some work on it and have an AFFORDABLE 500+RWHP toy. You are the one who should feel bad as you're missing out...:)

I'm starting to look at some of these C6 Z06's. There are a whole lot of good deals out there! I was considering getting on '16 - '17 camero.. but if I can get a C6 Z06 with less than 30k miles for about the same price then is there really any question lol??

That's why they're holding their value. That 30k dollar mark is a tough barrier to break for alot of these. I've been watching the ads and these things are not dropping much, just excellent vehicles.

It's a good car but only if you replace the heads and cam because it can drop a valve. This car has a problem with that and it will cost you 20k to fix

tao l If you're willing to drive further from San Jose, then Hwy 130 and Mines Rd are amazing driving roads. They have steep drop-offs though so gotta be extra careful.

+Zygrene that's actually what I took instead of Calaveras when I was visiting San Jose. However I skipped Mines Rd and kept on going towards I5. My only complaint about 130 is the loose gravel when heading downhill from the observatory. It was so bad rocks were flying into my lap so I had to close my window.

tao l You should definitely check out Mines Rd then. 130 does get quite bumpy/gravelly in sections but Mines is much smoother with fewer hairpins and more sweepers.
