Spider-Man is also such a unique idea. Anyone can think of a hero with super strength or flight or a robot suit, but it’s the limits of Spider-Man that make the mantle cool. Not impervious to bullets, but still super strong. Still travels quickly, but through webs. The average Spider-Man is simply someone with those abilities and their own unique flavor, it’s an awesome foundation

I love how each Spider-Man we see on screen focuses on a different part of what makes Spider-Man, Spider-Man. Raimi’s focuses on the responsibilities and the tolls it can take on a person, Webb’s focuses on the vigilante aspect as well as the tragedy that can come from it, the MCU focuses on the growing up being Spider-Man requires and how it matures the barer of the responsibility. And Spiderverse? Well it takes these aspects and brings to question if they are needed to be Spider-Man. Do you need to suffer to be Spider-Man? Btw great vid, despite me being a year younger I would say I grew up with every live action Spider-Man in a way. Though the fact that your only a year older and making this good content makes me feel super old.

Great video man, you do pose a good question. You would think that at some point we would eventually get tired of Spiderman content. Yet still, I also am probably more interested in Spiderman content than ever, I'm genuinely dumbfounded by how the stars just aligned with all of the Spiderman movies. When spiderman beyond the Spider-verse comes out I know it's gonna be the movie of the year what more is that I'm sure it will somehow find some way to deliver visuals beyond (pun intended) what we thought was even possible. Keep on making great content man.

Spider-Man is basically Batman on the opposite end of the spectrum. He’s emotional, feels real despite his heroics, and fights crime on the street level (as opposed to cosmic threats). Beyond the movies take into account all his TV shows (animated and live action) and video games, Spider-Man is one of, if not the, only comic book superhero that’s always drowning in adaptions and there’s still no or little fatigue. Not everything is fantastic, but there’s not such massive gaps between quality content that the audience becomes disillusioned

I think another reason a lot of people like spiderman is because there's always been a new spiderman show or movie for each generation to grow up with. Everyone knows his story and origin and that makes a very easy IP to make more content for while having a large audience that will at least give any new show or movie a try. There are a lot of great shows that don't have that and need to get you invested in this new universe just to get you to watch episode 1, but anyone can pickup a new spiderman series and know what's happening. Very good video. I almost crumbled to dust hearing your age seeing how good you are at dissecting topics in videos and putting it all together.

My take is, and has been for a while, that Spider-man is closer to classical mythology than a media franchise. If you keep finding different ways to rearrange the fundamental building blocks, you'll keep telling stories that resonate with people. Even if someone writes a garbage spiderman story, there's always someone who loves the concept enough to come along and write a good one.

Stan Lee single handedly gave us THE BEST comic book hero ever in history. When done right, Spider-Man is one of the hero’s you can never get tired seeing their movies. The fact that we can all relate to Peter Parker/Spider-Man is what makes him so popular, just a dude trying to get by with so little and always choosing to do the right thing when life goes wrong for him. We have yet to see so many iterations of Spider-Man, so many storylines and comic books we could get an endless amount of Spider-Man movies in our future.

i think another thing that makes spiderman such an icon and hero in real life, is that his character alone has literally saved countless lives, whether its stan lee going to bankruptcy very early on in his life, more unfortunate topics like self harm or suicide, his character has made people who struggle with these things reconsider and find new meaning in life and helps teach that no matter how tough things ever get, you need to be able to always get back up on your feet, that message is something that always stays constant throughout spiderman, toby, andrew, tom, miles, yuri lowenthal, all have segments in their own spiderman media that shows them at their absolute worst and still managing to get up and get better, the sinister six scene from spiderman ps4 is the biggest indication of this, as well as tom after aunt may dies or when hes about to kill goblin, he still manages to see the brighter side and wear a smile, and i think that message is beautiful

I think people don’t get tired of Spider-Man because they grew up with either the Garfield or Toby movies and their exited to see what these new spidermen have to offer and what part of their storylines gonna be different. And, Spider-Man’s a lot of people’s (I think most peoples) favorite comic book character/superhero, except maybe tony stark. But anyways, when a new hulk or Superman (I know he’s not in the mcu, sue me) movie come out, that big group of Spider-Man fans would be more enthusiastic to watch a Spider-Man movie. Due to that reason, they’ll watch the Spider-Man movies first because their hopeful that it would be different this time, but it won’t. They’ll try to be optimistic on the movie even though the directors copy and pasted it from Toby’s or Andrews movies. They see through that false reality. And because of that, their not tired of the movies. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

2:14 I share the same sentiment about Toby & Andrew’s Spider Man movies. I was 7 when Spider Man 3 came out so I remember watching that with my parents but the other movies less so until Homecoming & ITSV came out. Where I really fell in love with the franchise was with Ultimate Spider Man from 2012 - 2017 & Marvel’s Spider Man from 2017 - 2020. After this is when I really got into other aspects of the franchise like Tom Holland’s Spider Man & the Spider Verse trilogy. Those 2 shows were all the Spider-Man content I needed & it was interesting to see how the stories developed & what new predicaments Spider Man & his group of other characters would have to deal with.

Spider-Man is also one of the most relatable super heros. This ties in to the idea that anyone can be Spider-Man. Most popular versions of him are ones where he's just a average person when he's not Spider-Man. He's not a billionaire, he's not a norse god, he's not a super soldier made to help end a war, he's just an average human being trying to make a living and persue his dreams. Him just being an ordinary person but still becoming a super hero makes him easier to relate to and can even inspire people.

When the first Spider-Man movie hit theaters, it was a huge surprise, because no one knew if adapting Spider-Man for live action cinema would even be possible. He had a popular 90s cartoon, in spite heavy censorship. But live action Spider-Man was The Electric Company. Audiences were still getting used to the weird redesigns for the X-Men, and praying that the Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck wouldn't be entirely horrible. In the end, the best thing about it was Evanescence on the soundtrack, and the chili dog deals at Wal-Mart. And then, Spider-Man and the X-Men saved the genre after the total stink bomb that was Batman and Robin. A stink bomb not even Blade could clear the room of! And Blade was trying to bring respect back to dark superheroes right around the time that three years had passed since Mortal Kombat and Spawn were both given horrible adaptations, and one year after the sequel to Mortal Kombat nearly killed that entire franchise by how horrible it was. (Let's cut costs by replacing almost the entire cast with porn stars willing to work for peanuts, and then shoot it like a low-budget porno, but with bad CGI dragons and poorly choreographed martial arts instead of sex. What could possibly go wrong???) Audiences accepted Tobey Maguire, even with all his franchise's flaws, because it was still better than the other schlock audiences were getting.

Part of the appeal for Spider Man (or other Spider People) is they can be written for any audience. Younger viewers get a friendly colorful hero, while the older viewers can get a deeper story that focuses on important and sometimes difficult topics. Neither feel out of character. Additionally, you'd be very hard pressed to find someone who doesn't at least know of Spider Man. He's a familiar name, making it easy for the audience to get into the story. P.s. Spiderpocalypse sounds pretty cool

Its interesenting seeing the perspective of someone who wasnt around since the first big screen adaptation of Spider-Man. For me, who got the chance to watch all of them in the theatre I never had enough of it. The reboots didnt feel bad for me, I got excited with each one of them but they were all their own version of Spider-Man and, since there are a lot of comics of him with different versions, I didnt feel that weird either. Thats why Spiderverse worked so well, it was a combination of all that stories, making the one "created" by the community, the main character, Miles Morales.

Spiderman was a huge part of my teenage years! He was my favourite and still is after all this time! What makes the idea unique is the adaptiveness of stories and characters, as well as the focus on different aspects of the character and his life, wether internal or external. For example, I was inspired by spiderman to start training on parkour just to be able to "climb walls" like him (maybe the Assassin's Creed parkour videos helped as well but that's besides the point). It's not only the fact that he is relatable and is just a normal person etc. I think because he is also an underdog compared to big names like batman, superman, Iron-man etc, he represents the idea that the little guy has a chance to fight the big bad guys and come through it (possibly). He is a figure of hope in a world full of darkness if I may. He goes against the negative mindset of "if you don't have money or power in general, you will never achieve anything in life" which is somewhat true but the character of spiderman tells you that "even from nothing, if you have the will to do it, you can do it" and it ties well with the "great responsibility" that he also represents. He represents the people who stand up to the big guy and protect the little guy! And the fact that "anyone could be under that mask" gives people the ability to gain hope from him and think what their lives whould be if THEY were superheroes. And that's the first superhero to ever do that (if I remember correctly). Spiderverse movies are my favourite spiderman movies because it enchanses the idea of "anyone could be under that mask" and it was a saving place for my teenage self!

"I know this video is just me just kind of saying how good Spider-Man movies are..." It's so much more than that. Your perspective on Spider-Man is vital to his success. I'm sure it's shared by many of your generation. I was born in 1972, and Spider-Man was already an established brand - I have a picture of me opening Star Wars toys in 1978 wearing my Spider-Man pajamas. I had no idea, but in retrospect the character was only a decade old when I met him. He had comic books, cartoons, a quaint TV show, etc, but there was just one Spider-Man. Flash forward to the massive Spider-Man franchise you were born into. It has to be overwhelming to get into *any* comic book mythos when their histories span half a century (nearly a full century for the DC leads). Your perception of how No Way Home and Spider-verse helped to tie all of that together for newer fans is a great insight. It's like saying, "All of these pieces are valid. Enjoy the ones you love." Aside from his universality and compelling suffering, a big part of Spider-Man's appeal for me has always been fantasy wish fulfillment. It's fun. It's fun to imagine being an ordinary person suddenly given these extraordinary powers. Who doesn't want to walk back into high school and send the bully flying down the hallway? Sure, we can imagine being Superman or Batman, but Spider-Man sits in this sweet spot between them that says we don't need to be an alien or billionaire to be a hero. And web-swinging. While I love the characters and stories in the video games, if they released them as only web-swinging simulators I'd still buy them. Spider-pocalypse... It'll catch on.

love the subtle Igor reference in the beginning. (song name: A Boy is a Gun*). Both this song and Bound 2 by Kanye use the same sample from the original song in case anyone heard similarities.

i think a big factor in spider-man's rise to being literally the greatest to ever be made/written/just greatest superhero in general is the fact the he is not only a super badass superhero as spider-man , but also a relatable human as peter or whomever may take on the mantle , from struggling to balance his real life with his secret identity (not relatable obviously) to being smart but absent or late very often to school , or even his financial struggle and relationship issues . not only is he a cool superhero , he's a person we all in some way are able to relate to . that's why we find such joy and hope in that symbol , it represents so much more than his abilities

Fun fact, Spider-man 3 came out on my third birthday where I chose to have a spider-man themed party and actually did NOT get to see the movie till years later when I turned 13 and my mom bought me the entire trilogy set. That’s right, they allowed me to continue life NOT knowing the spidermen movies were even being made

That's exactly the thing! Spider-verse allows each Spider-Man's story to be valid in it's own right without undermining any of the other ones out there. Exactly like the comics! It's brillant 🌻

They gave AVI ARAD a big thank you in the credits of NO WAY HOME But you know who else deserves a big thank you? LAURA ZISKIN It was because of her and her partner (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the original trilogy and TASM1 had depth Arad on the other hand just wanted to use the movies to sell toys
