I just got this and found it has a locking mechanism to keep the chutes open, but it doesn't seem to work. You are supposed to pull the release handle back and then lock it. Has anyone been able to get this feature to work?

Has anyone talked at Swardman headquarters to order parts, or get advice? My Swardman was at first difficult to start, it reminded me of the mowers in the 60's when I mowed the lawn with a Toro reel mower. It did a great job back then. When I call no one answers the phone and I have to leave a message. I have emailed too and thats a slow response too

How is your perennial ryegrass doing now? I'm in the northern part of Illinois where temp sometimes goes -20 or -30. There was even year we had polar vortex and the temp was like -50F for 2 days. Anyways, should I plant kentucky bluegrass instead? I owned KBG before but unfortunately in the 7th year, it died. Maybe my fault since I wasn't fertilizing nor watering it well.
@theperfectcutlawncareАй бұрын
Depends on the cultivar. Older ones do better with the heat, but don’t look nearly as good. Newer cultivars, like Aftermidnight, look great, but are very high maintenance and require a lot of water. The rye has been tolerating summer and the cold temps with out a problem

Question. nice video and I understand and agree with all the steps. But, I have 2 1/4 acres of grass, 18 zones with 9 heads per zone on the irrigation system. Central Idaho. How DO I OVERSEED? No way to do all the steps you did, and if there was a way it would cost $19,000.00. What happens if I just simply broadcast 200 pounds of seed? No other steps, just broadcast 200 pounds of seed? Give it a try and see, or complete waste of 200 pounds of grass seed?????????

If you waited until Labor Day where you’ll have ideal temperatures, spread the seed and then top dressed with soil by renting an EcoLawn top dresser you’ll have decent results. You’ll do much better germination wise than just spreading seed and hoping for the best. You’d need a lot of soil to top dress two acres. Close to 20 tons.

Your lawn looks great. But one cost you’re not including with this video is your time invested. Compare the time that it will take to maintain it vs how much you earn per hour in your job. Include those costs with the price of your lawn supplies.

Beautiful lawn!! What variety of Kentucky Bluegrass did you use on your front lawn? I was disappointed with my front lawn renovation last fall. I used a premium seed 50% Kentucky Blue 50% perennial rye. And after 7 weeks I am still trying to get rid of all the perennial rye seed stalks and stems. It gives my lawn a brown cast. Next month I would like to overseed with Kentucky Blue seed with the darkest color I can find.

What do you think of mixing the two? They supposedly look enough alike that it won't look permanently patchy, but they do have different characteristics, including drought and disease resistance, so possibly complementary.

Have to admit it - when I saw this video to watch, for some reason "blowing lines of coke" wasn't on my radar. Speaking of TruGreen - I moved into a new home in Nov and in early spring I thought I saw someone on the property - turned out they were doing a treatment on the lawn and then left the bill near the door. (they added that I had winter mold on the lawn - the horror). The reason for this was that the a-hole daughters of the owners (they were acting PoAs) who doubled as real estate agents (probably counting bathrooms was a hardship) - neglected to advise anyone that they moved - we continued to receive their mail (which was good as I used as hostage when we had a move-in issue) and they never advised any services - and TruGreen was one of them. I called up TruGreen to have them stop and told them they are a-holes and you probably will never get your money. And yes - your explanation and high-fives is valid. (if you google "youtube market place lawn care" you will see a video on this exact issue). Thanks for the info - I don't know much but want to grow more lawn and force the weeds out - and your phosphorus comment was great - I definitely have weed concerns - along with the iron coloring. Another major issue I have is in part of the yard there are mini-hills/valleys - hard to walk nicely there - My dad used to have a round device you push around the lawn to compact the soil during early spring but in lieu of that I heard you can use soil to fill in the valleys and then seed. thanks for the info.
