You inspired me to make an ecosphere, it is now two years old. Actually my kids and I made three. Two ended up barren wastelands. The third is doing quite well. I am sure there's little critters I cannot see, the plants would not survive without them. Failed to spot them, but my eyes are... not that great. Hang on, we think of you, and wish you all the best! And thanks for the update on the fruit fly jar. They seem so abundant and resilient, so I was surprised they all died out!

I have made my own water jar with isopods and also a jar with liverwort which has a large springtail colony both of which are about 8 months old and going strong. I feel that my life has been in a jar for the last year or so but life in jars, and my own jars full of life, has helped me enjoy the little things and kept me happy so thanks for inspiring us all and hope you feel better soon mate! I am so happy and proud of you! Thank you so much for taking care of yourself! You are the most important person in your story so it is an excellent thing when you step away and take care of yourself. The past several years have been incredibly hard and it's okay that you are focusing on things that have a greater impact to you. I spent nearly 4 years being unable to get out into my yard and garden (which was and still is my passion) without having mini panic attacks. Now, I after moving and getting the support I needed I can go a few hours and get stuff done on my own. I'm still slow at it, I still have to modify things and let other things slide....but I'm gardening again. You will get there too....even if it is just tiny steps at a time. I Understand. Sometimes it is incredibly hard to feel any motivation at all. The fact that you made a video to update us all took a lot of strength. I live on the Atlantic and there is a dam near my house that separates the saltwater/brackish water from the freshwater at the mouth of a big river pouring into the ocean. I've struggled with pretty much constant depression for years now and your content has genuinely helped. One thing that I've learned over time is that, while you should try your best, sometimes you just don't have that in you at that time. Shit happens, life happens, and it isn't your fault. We all have to do the best with what we have, and sometimes what we have just isn't enough, so you just have to do what you can, when you can, and try not to worry too much about what/when you can't. I don't know what you're going through, I won't pretend to, and it isn't my place to speculate, but what I do know for certain is that, eventually, it will get easier, you will learn to manage whatever's been going on in your life, and even if whatever it is never goes away, you'll learn to cope with it
